LetsGetTechnicl··on Memory executives expect RAM shortage to continue through 2028
Is there anyone in the AI sector that is making profit and re-investing it? I guess that really only applies to Microsoft, Apple, Google, etc. that other lines of business to prop up their AI divisions, vs. companies like OpenAI and Anthrophic. I wonder where NVIDIA will land...
LetsGetTechnicl··on Memory executives expect RAM shortage to continue through 2028
I'm sensing sarcasm but is it not true that the scale of obligations is unsustainable?

As for preparation, I'm not sure. I have a 401k that I'm worried about. I'm too young to really remember the dotcom bubble, let alone have any stake in the stock market at the time.

Yeah there was just a story about how there are hundreds of billions of dollars in "non-cancellable" debt obligations to build AI data centers. But they're building far beyond current demand, I feel like the collapse is inevitable.
LetsGetTechnicl··on Wall Street Is Growing Skeptical of the Data Center Boom
The idea that everything will be fine after the data centers file for bankruptcy seems a bit naive
LetsGetTechnicl··on Wall Street Is Growing Skeptical of the Data Center Boom
Yeah but general purpose data centers that allow hobbyists to spin up an app or a service easily is exactly that: general purpose. AI data centers are built for the very specific kind of math that LLM's require. Even the GPU's can't even be used for something like cloud gaming, which isn't very popular anyways.

Probably has something to do with the recent anti-science movement that currently has our country and government in a chokehold.

LetsGetTechnicl··on ER visits for gambling disorders doubled after expanded online gambling market
You also wait a looooong time to get treatment at an ER in the US too, unless you're actively dying, and sometimes even if you are.

Really hoping some good guy hacker manages to take them all down somehow
LetsGetTechnicl··on Apple's Siri AI Can Be Swapped Out for Claude, ChatGPT, Code Shows
Agreed. I'm not looking forward to iOS 27 where basically the only option is this new Siri. I was perfectly content with using the old "dumb" Siri to set timers, turn on a light and control my Apple TV and nothing else.

LetsGetTechnicl··on Shutting down our public encrypted DNS
I set up a WireGuard VPN and use that to connect back to my home network. It's fast enough for what I do on my phone.
LetsGetTechnicl··on Shutting down our public encrypted DNS
Yeah I have a VPN set up. I don't have the best internet so sometimes it's slow (mostly just app downloads seem to take the longest, so I'll just disable it and then re-enable it.) But it works just fine for streaming, including video
LetsGetTechnicl··on Shutting down our public encrypted DNS
I've been loving the Pihole setup I just set up. It uses Quad9 as the upstream provider and then I do all the blocking myself. I used to use NextDNS but this is so much better and free!
LetsGetTechnicl··on Elevator of the Year: Modernization of the Metropolis Trust Building
Yeah the article is specifically about replacing the old unreliable elevator with a new modern one.

Well one works reliably and the other is "agentic" AI
LetsGetTechnicl··on WebMCP: Teaching Your Website to Talk to AI Agents
Right, because disabled people have been sitting at home not able to book a restaurant until now
LetsGetTechnicl··on WebMCP: Teaching Your Website to Talk to AI Agents
The accessibility tools most computers have had since the 90's? Apple has a plethora of screen navigation tools in their OS's. Or, calling the restaurant and booking a table directly in this case.
LetsGetTechnicl··on WebMCP: Teaching Your Website to Talk to AI Agents
It does mention something about "using the page you're already logged into" so I presumed that it meant the browser you had open in front of you
LetsGetTechnicl··on WebMCP: Teaching Your Website to Talk to AI Agents
We already have accessibility tools for that
LetsGetTechnicl··on WebMCP: Teaching Your Website to Talk to AI Agents
Jesus fucking Christ you're on a restaurant booking page looking at a date picker and you need an agent to fill it out for you?

You can get Proton through CrossOver at least. I haven't done much testing but I know some people use it to do some basic gaming.

LetsGetTechnicl··on How to disable or avoid intrusive AI
I'm not excited for iOS 27. I tried out the beta and decided to reset my phone to get my back to iOS 26. I find the new Siri is far worse and slower to respond, if that's even possible. It also adds new features that are hard to remove. I only use it for timers and playing music and the current Siri is just fine for that imo.
