LeonidBugaev··on Writing a very fast cache service with millions of entries in Go
You should check https://github.com/buger/jsonparser and https://github.com/mailru/easyjson as well. They are even more faster.
LeonidBugaev··on New JSON parser for Go: up to 9x faster than `encoding/json`
I added `codec` to benchmarks, performance gets unpredictable once record complexity grows.
LeonidBugaev··on New JSON parser for Go: up to 9x faster than `encoding/json`
Good point, i will think how to make it work.
LeonidBugaev··on New JSON parser for Go: up to 9x faster than `encoding/json`
Thanks will add it to the tests
LeonidBugaev··on New JSON parser for Go: up to 9x faster than `encoding/json`
Anyone knows good JSON specs to run against?
LeonidBugaev··on New JSON parser for Go: up to 9x faster than `encoding/json`
There is lot of tasks when you need only to read data, 3-rd party API, log processing and lot more. For sure this lib not for everyone, but if you care about performance, and especially memory consumption, this could make sense.

Can you a bit clarify about your expectations?

I'm the author.

Happy to answer any questions, hope you like it!

LeonidBugaev··on Diffy: Testing services without writing tests
Well it does more then routing of TCP packets :)

Actually it works on http level, and allows you do rewrite your requests. Currently comparison of original and replayed response can be done only using middleware, but i plan to include it into base functionality.

Also unlike Diffy, it does not act as proxy, thus does not affect your traffic anyhow, it intercepts traffic, rewrites it, and send to the candidate server.

LeonidBugaev··on Gor – A simple http traffic replication tool written in Go
Thanks for putting it to the HN, author here :)
LeonidBugaev··on Lessons learned from the big rewrite
For testing performance i would recommend https://github.com/buger/gor (i'm author).
LeonidBugaev··on AWS EC2 Container Service
I guess it is like hosted Mesos. They provide Masters and API similar to Marathon, and you just have to run slave instances. Looks nice :)
LeonidBugaev··on Show HN: CleverDeck – I built the spaced repetition app I always wanted
Looks great, but does it have pronunciation?
LeonidBugaev··on Ask HN: How Can I Find a Mentor?
try https://www.codementor.io/
LeonidBugaev··on Cloud-ssh – tiny wrapper for ssh which enchance work with cloud providers
Author here, in case if there are any questions.
LeonidBugaev··on Sir Trevor Editor
Looks like it heavily inspired by medium.com editor.

Off topic: Does anyone knows if there is comment system like medium have (individual comments for each paragraph)?

LeonidBugaev··on Canada's Start-up Visa
But what about Visa? From what i know there is no alternative like Europe Startup Visa.

LeonidBugaev··on Improving testing by using real traffic from production
Yeah, this version have lack of smart rate limiting. But i want to implement "buffering", so requests will be send in same order, without loss, from buffer. Smth like video streaming. Session loss in this case will be only when i need to re-fill buffer.

LeonidBugaev··on Improving testing by using real traffic from production
Thanks.I was thinking to use RAW SOCKETS instead of tcpdump, but decided to leave it for futher releases.
LeonidBugaev··on Show HN: Feedback app
I've made similar prototype few years ago, if someone interested here is source code:

https://github.com/buger/PointOut

Realtime stuff build on top of GAE.

LeonidBugaev··on Code sucks
Thanks! Good point.
LeonidBugaev··on Code sucks
Good point.
LeonidBugaev··on Code sucks
Thanks for response. I did't said that code should be awful, sure you should control code quality, to be maintainable. I mostly talked that premature optimizations and rewriting from scratch is bad.
LeonidBugaev··on Code sucks
Yeah, sometimes, if the code looks like shit happens that it actually is this :)

For sure it works only if you have someone with good sense of code quality.

LeonidBugaev··on Code sucks
Yeah, i'm working on it...

BTW, this blog is open-sourced, and if someone helps with grammar i'll be grateful :)

LeonidBugaev··on Code sucks
Thanks! Exactly what i mean.
LeonidBugaev··on Code sucks
Agree. I was talking mostly about web-services, as its mine main specialization.
LeonidBugaev··on Code sucks
Thanks for response!

For sure I don't mean that you should write crappy code. I mostly talking about premature-optimizations. Right now there are lot of tools and techniques that allow to control code quality. At least test, code-reviews and code analysers.

LeonidBugaev··on Code sucks
> Also I think that the best way to write code is to assume that bad code will be written and apply stuff like unit testing as a means to make replacing that bad code as easy as possible.

Can't agree more. Tests and code-reviews help a lot.
