LeoPanthera··on Example.com just launched the biggest redesign in decades
neverssl.com is slightly better for that, since it resists caching.
LeoPanthera··on Powerless F1 drivers frustrated by Bahrain F1 software glitch
It seems they simply disabled a bunch of power limits. Probably just settings, rather than an actual code update.
LeoPanthera··on A map of every lighthouse
I remember when the early GPTs started to appear people worried that the text it generated would be indistinguishable from human-written text.

I suppose it's quite pleasing that not only is AI text still obvious, but AI websites also jump out and are immediately recognizable.

LeoPanthera··on Apple Pass Designer
Apple Wallet doesn't exist on non-Apple devices, so why should this?
LeoPanthera··on We’re forgetting what darkness feels like
That sentence has changed meaning twice, depending on what generation you are, it's either "snow", solid blue, or a screensaver.
LeoPanthera··on Livenerf: Has Opus 5.5 been nerfed yet?
n=1 is useless. The output is not deterministic.
LeoPanthera··on Claude Deleted 48k Files
A few months ago Claude nuked one of our databases. We keep backups, so, "no big deal", but since then we just put "Never delete files, use the the trash or rename aside" (or a wordier version of that) in the global CLAUDE.md.

This works slightly too well, in fact. Our Claude is absolutely paranoid of deleting files, including writing code that has the capability to delete things.

Frankly I'm OK with this.

I don't know why this was linked through archive.org. Although the original post was deleted, you can still read Reddit posts if you know the URL.

LeoPanthera··on Plan mode is dead
This is exactly what I do. If it's asking a lot of questions your spec isn't specified enough. It's very useful.
LeoPanthera··on Plan mode is dead
Wait, you can turn that back on? Where's the flag?
LeoPanthera··on Plan mode is dead
Early versions of plan mode would erase the chat history and present the plan as the start of a new session when you approved it.

I miss that. It worked really well, and it kept the context clean.

LeoPanthera··on Obscura: VPN that can't log your activity
A lot of people are abandoning Mullvad because their CEO is directly funding a far-right political party.

As they should, IMHO.

LeoPanthera··on Dropbox's Jan 1st 2027 terms of service
That seems... reasonable? You have to trash the files and empty the trash before you lose them. Isn't that what the trash is for?
LeoPanthera··on Dropbox's Jan 1st 2027 terms of service
iCloud Drive is the obvious choice.
LeoPanthera··on Claude Code now reads AGENTS.md if there is no Claude.md
If you don't use Claude anymore, why do you care?
LeoPanthera··on Wax motor
What a treasure Big Clive is. Educational, entertaining, and zero of those YouTube cliches and clickbait that everyone hates. I don't think he's ever said "Like and subscribe" literally ever.
LeoPanthera··on iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27
Correct me if I'm wrong but it's my understanding that macOS 15 security updates are only made available for devices for which 15 is the last compatible macOS version.
LeoPanthera··on iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27
I would upgrade if only because you would otherwise stop receiving security patches at this point.
LeoPanthera··on iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27
Is this a joke? My iPhone is still running 26 and I just did that exact test and it went into "Household items".
LeoPanthera··on Reverse-Engineering Claude Web's MicroVM: Uncovering Anthropic's Hidden Antspace
"This is not just an AI coding assistant. It's"...

Claude writing about claude. Painful to read.

LeoPanthera··on Ask HN: In The Matrix, the bad guys are the 'agents'. Coincidence? Clairvoyance?
Dr. Walter Gibbs: [laughs] You've got to expect some static. After all, computers are just machines; they can't think.

Alan Bradley: Some programs will be thinking soon.

Gibbs: Won't that be grand? Computers and the programs will start thinking, and the people will stop!

LeoPanthera··on Why is Google still serving dodgy ads?
Apple News does this too. In some ways it's actually worse. It's a real problem, and those who are less technologically ept are inevitably going to be scammed. I expect a lot more from Apple than I do from Google, so it's surprising that it's been going on for so long.
LeoPanthera··on Will there be a 7G?
AT&T has figured out a way to monetize that. If you have a "Turbo" plan or add-on, your phone will work in crowded cells.

If you don't, good luck with that.

LeoPanthera··on google.com/goto: Google's anti-scraping update
It breaks the social contract of the web. My user agent should be able to tell me where a hyperlink goes without first clicking on it, and perhaps act differently based on that information.

Now, all Google search results appear to go back to Google.

LeoPanthera··on Apple Watch Series 12
Apple Watches have had an audio recorder app for years and no-one cares. Sometimes people are just looking for a reason to be offended.

You'd be shocked what the suite of sensors in the smartphone 99% of the population has in their pocket can do.

LeoPanthera··on Apple Watch Ultra 4
They made it very clear that it doesn't record anything.
LeoPanthera··on iPhone Duo
I thought the Pixel Fold didn't support this? No landscape keyboard?
LeoPanthera··on AirPods 5
Why are you comparing in-ear earbuds to over-ear headphones?
LeoPanthera··on Apple Unveils iPhone Duo
I too have nothing to contribute to this post.
LeoPanthera··on iPhone Duo
Apple has had the "perfect existing technology" business model for FIFTY years and people are still surprised.
