LawnDart1··on Stop Calling It “Military-Grade Encryption”
By calling it Military Grade, it's easier to Ban it...
LawnDart1··on Ask HN: What are you learning in 2019?
Learning Piano, 3d design & printing. Improving my inline skating.

And a bunch of computer stuff too, but hell, for the past 33 years of working in this game, I've learned a bunch of new computer stuff each year. Sooner or later it all tastes like chicken.

LawnDart1··on Why does no one ever tell you how brilliant ageing can be?
In fairness, while getting old is not ideal, it usually beats the alternative
LawnDart1··on Tell HN: Pluralsight and the dark-pattern of auto-renewals
Also somewhat "dark" when they email you on the day of renewal, so that you have no chance to consider other options.

LawnDart1··on The Free Coffee Test, or Lefkowitz’s Law of Corporate Financial Health (2013)

LawnDart1··on Sqlite: Code Of Conduct
First, I never knew SQLLite was quite so religious,

Second 69. Love your juniors. Really? Won't HR get involved?

LawnDart1··on Ask HN: What can be done to prevent a climate catastrophe?
Most of the people who live in places that will become uninhabitable, can either not or can barely afford clear water and food. They will not be able to afford hi tech solutions. Since Humanity does not help them now, it is not reasonable to assume that we will help them in the future.
LawnDart1··on Ask HN: What are the things keep in mind while giving/preparing for a tech talk?
Understand your audience.

It's SO easy to assume knowledge. When I talk about python, I now give a quick intro to the command prompt. I started out assuming everyone knew how to use the command prompt. A lot of times, you forget that the stuff you "just use" may be new to the listeners.

LawnDart1··on Ask HN: What has the past 12 months taught you?
"Don't bother disagreeing with people on social media."

You should put that on a tee-shirt, or maybe a billboard.

LawnDart1··on Leaked Emails Show Google Expected Military Drone AI Work to Grow Exponentially
This is what T800-101 really looks like https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_Atomics_MQ-9_Reaper
LawnDart1··on Ask HN: Of your hard learned lessons, which do you wish could’ve been easier?
It is not Enough to be right, you must bring people with you.
LawnDart1··on How to build a house alone [video]
what could possibly go wrong....

LawnDart1··on “Pinterest needs to be removed from Google IMO”
So I'm probably not the only one who adds "-pinterest" to my searches. Never signing up for pinterest.
LawnDart1··on Human-sheep hybrids pave way for diabetes cure and mass organ transplants
Wake up Sheeple (Sorry, I had to)
LawnDart1··on Bitcoin is an energy arbitrage
Hard to take him seriously when he thinks 1/6th of an hour < 1/7th of an hour
LawnDart1··on Bitcoin is an energy arbitrage
Hard to take him seriously when he thinks 1/6 of an hour is less than 1/7th of an hour...
