LandoCalrissian··on Commodore C64 Wi-Fi Modem
You could probably use IRC with it, which could be kind of fun.
LandoCalrissian··on Glassdoor: Airbnb dethrones Google as the best tech company to work for in U.S
Summer hour to me always meant it wasn't uncouth to leave an hour early during the week or take a full day or half day on Friday. Really it's just more relaxed hours.
LandoCalrissian··on Gene Amdahl has died
“By sheer intellectual force, plus some argument and banging on the table, he maintained architectural consistency across six engineering teams,” said Frederick P. Brooks Jr.

This is one of the more impressive things to me. Keeping that many people on the same page is an amazing feat.

LandoCalrissian··on Bitcoin Surges Past $400
So what numbers do you have to pump it to until you get your money back?
LandoCalrissian··on TB Is Now the Top Infectious Killer
This was really good, a few things about it really surprised me since my understanding of the history of TB was pretty lacking. Really recommend checking it out.
LandoCalrissian··on Amazon Will Ban Sale of Apple, Google Video-Streaming Devices
First thing in a while I have been disappointed in from Amazon. Pretty crappy move.
LandoCalrissian··on Amazon Flex
Why are they so unpopular there?
LandoCalrissian··on The $9 CHIP Computer Is Shipping
Wow, I had not heard about this before. For the price and spec that can't be beat. I would've expected the maker scene to blow up over this but I haven't heard anything. I have a ton of projects that could leverage this. How did they make this so cheap?
LandoCalrissian··on HP to cut 25-30k jobs
I'm really sorry for all those people. Nothing worse than losing your job. I hope they at least get a good severance. It's a pretty mis-run company that is now having a lot of human collateral damage. Really sad.
LandoCalrissian··on Google’s look, evolved
Yeah I think it's pretty nice too. Works really well with the material design elements for most their applications.
LandoCalrissian··on Financial Misstatements
The average age of founders in YC startups is 29, that's not really straight out of college. I think you might actually have misconceptions of what YC does. It's not a school for sure.
LandoCalrissian··on San Francisco’s Newest Fast Food: Healthy, Cheap and Served by Robots
Beat me to it, I could not for the life of me remember what they were called. Thanks for the link.
LandoCalrissian··on Landlords are trying not to rent to startups in San Francisco
Then don't rent an office? I really don't know what you think the alternative would be. I assume the value comes from not having to work by a flaming barrel down by the river.
LandoCalrissian··on Reddit Chief Engineer Quits After Less Than Two Months on the Job
That one kind of surprised me, I expected Altman to be above that.
LandoCalrissian··on A Bitcoin miner in every hand
Basically what I'm reading is it probably would have been more prudent just to light the 116 million dollar investment on fire and not waste everyone's time.

These are terrible ideas.

LandoCalrissian··on McDonald's CEO promises better food
So the solution to their overpriced bloated menu, is to add more stuff to the menu? Good luck with that.
LandoCalrissian··on French National Assembly approved Internet traffic monitoring system (French)
Typically in most systems, you need a quorum to hold a vote of any kind. I'm really not sure why you can only vote with 30 out of 577 in the French Assembly.
LandoCalrissian··on The Roomba for Lawns Is Really Pissing Off Astronomers
Kind of my question. Why can't they use one of the standard open frequencies like 433mhz? I assume there is some reason, maybe broadcast distance and strength for bigger yards?
LandoCalrissian··on FCC Passes Strict Net Neutrality Regulations on 3-2 Vote
This is pretty typical for HN. You get a lot of techno libertarians who think any form of regulation is the worst thing ever. To say that the new classification is somehow going to be worse I think is a bit of a stretch.
LandoCalrissian··on Show HN: Matterhorn – Your new project manager
Looks very nice. Small deal, but the web fonts appear to be getting blocked for me so you may want to host those on the same domain. Keep up the good work!
LandoCalrissian··on Marissa Mayer’s Plan for Yahoo Takes Hold
Sorry, should have made myself more clear. Wasn't trying to directly address the content of the article, which is largely positive as you said.
LandoCalrissian··on Marissa Mayer’s Plan for Yahoo Takes Hold
What Mayer has been tasked with is an almost impossible mission, just stopping the free fall is impressive in it's own right. People really love to dig on her, and I can't help but think it's largely because she is a woman. She's clearly not perfect and can be pretty callous towards employees, but it's not like she is the first CEO in tech to behave that way.

I don't know what the future for Yahoo holds, but it's hard for me to say that she has done a bad job so far.

LandoCalrissian··on Twitch acquires eSports pro-gaming team Evil Geniuses
Justin Wong is playing for twitch now. Didn't expect that.
LandoCalrissian··on Google Fiber Austin
Ya big jerk, can you send some of that fiber to your Minneapolis brothers in the north?
LandoCalrissian··on Fix CSS by writing it in JavaScript
I don't know, doesn't make much sense.
LandoCalrissian··on Bootstrap 3.3.0 and Bootstrap 4
Kind of interesting, that would mean there will be 5 different sizes. I guess one between 768 and 480 or something?
LandoCalrissian··on Bootstrap 3.3.0 and Bootstrap 4
I feel like it's going pretty fast. Do Google or Facebook even officially support IE8 anymore? I think the quicker the issue is forced the better it is for everyone. IE9 is at the very least pretty acceptable to deal with.

Edit: Looks like Google doesn't even support IE9 anymore. https://support.google.com/a/answer/33864?hl=en

LandoCalrissian··on CurrentC Has Been Hacked, Testers’ Email Addresses Stolen
Plus if you lose you wallet, or something horrible happens when you have cash, it's gone. There is a bit of a hassle replacing cards, but you don't just lose your money.
LandoCalrissian··on Apple 1 Motherboard Sold for $905,000
If I had a completely unreasonable amount of money I would buy this, quite a bit out of my price range.
LandoCalrissian··on Show HN: Run dedicated iOS Simulators in the browser
Haha, I'm a little surprised since this was the first thing I did. Actually works pretty well.
