Lalabadie··on Margaret Hamilton has died
May I recommend Caleb Hearth's Don't get distracted ?

Lalabadie··on Claude Code’s suggested message feature: I think the real customer is the model
I think the point was that moving towards these outcomes (bit by a snake, ripped apart by a shark) are examples of failure.
Lalabadie··on All I wanted was a custom domain email
Ditto. The cheapest iCloud subscription includes everything necessary. My partner and I both have emails through our respective personal domains, all on the same sub – I think the limit is 3 custom domains.
Lalabadie··on Apple Pass Designer
Not for barcodes, which excludes almost all membership cards.
Lalabadie··on Apple Pass Designer
Pass4Wallet has been my go-to recently (among the free options)
Lalabadie··on ChatGPT Pro 500
Am I just out of touch with our times if I think hand-wavey usage limits on a 500$ subscription is crazy?
Lalabadie··on Dots: Always-on agents
Just like they always present Astra as useful and not scary?
Lalabadie··on Prompting Claude Opus 5.5
Is distillation an issue that stops you from picking a model, while scraping/torrenting as much of the Internet as possible is fine?

It's not like Anthropic and OAI have clean hands, especially as they're now racing each other to appear the most dangerous to civilization.

Lalabadie··on Ember-1
Just like with OSS in general, being able to distribute it is what makes the effort worthwhile.

This particular example is maybe a niche, but 1400 people can use a few hundred queries in a reasonable amount of time.

Lalabadie··on I don't want the details
I don't read the article this way. It's pretty sane for an exec to draw a line where the team's autonomy meets leadership's responsibility for structure and incentives around which said team needs to organize.

"You did the right things and met the goals we set, but we hit a problem and we all agree it shouldn't happen again. Let's talk about what needs to change to address this."

Lalabadie··on Fable 5 – Median thinking declined in August
I get the perspective from which you're making that statement, but the industry keeps moving its own goalposts.

Change is fast and abundant, and at the same time, it is hilariously more mundane than the dangerous-AGI-in-six-months tune we've been reading daily for years.

I would define it as a quick-moving market, but not nearly moving enough for the fantastic claims they make to justify ever-increasing funding.

Lalabadie··on How OpenAI Used Its Own LLMs to Design Its Jalapeño Chip
Yeah! Procedural and algorithmic art are two other names you'll see used for the general techniques.
Lalabadie··on How OpenAI Used Its Own LLMs to Design Its Jalapeño Chip
I do generative art (no relation to AI prompting). I feel your frustration.
Lalabadie··on Qwen 3.8 Omni Flash
OpenAI, Anthropic and peers deeply fear that everyone would eventually come to that same conclusion.

(I think you're right)

Lalabadie··on OpenJev
Because "Make a website" (however more sophisticated the prompt might be) is not a path to knowing what to put on the website, what the personality of it should be, what the hierarchy of information should be, etc.

Sprinting to a finished-looking result at step 1 gives you the illusion that these decisions were considered, but even the casual observer quickly concludes that the page has 3000 words yet nothing to say.

Lalabadie··on Show HN: Ordewell – turn one goal into an ordered plan of coding-agent tasks
I opened the page looking for a differenciator, but everything about the project is AI-written (including author replies in these comments).
Lalabadie··on Show HN: Neobrutalism.dev – Just added Base UI support and added new color theme
I think your definition is closer. I would instead look at Bell Kiosk as a good example of someone doing the digital equivalent of brutalism
Lalabadie··on iPhone Duo
There's a sizeable amount of us. I finally had the battery changed in my 13 Mini a few months ago. I don't want a larger phone.

The Duo has the same diagonal as a Mini when closed (5.4"), so I'd love to see them eventually embrace that size and release a 7:5 ratio SE or something similar.

Lalabadie··on Elevated Errors for Multiple Models
I'm sure it's not that, but I'm picturing Elon Musk again unplugging random machines in the datacenter, and hiring dudes in a pickup to move them.
Lalabadie··on OpenClaw 2.0, Accidentally
I don't even know if this reply is sarcastic or not, because it perfectly caricatures the constant hyperbolic AI claims, along with their absence of proof.
Lalabadie··on Omarchy: 1Password and 37signals become Distinguished Corporate Patrons
but, but, the people who get a residency receive 2.5k per month!
Lalabadie··on GLM-5.3-Flash
I find GLM's idea of fast/flash is not really competitive with the speed DS4 Flash has, and it's hard to see them as being in the same segment for that reason.
Lalabadie··on OpenRouter is joining Stripe
I get where it's coming from, I like Stripe's long-stated mission ("To increase the GDP of the Internet").

This version is dumb/empty, and reads like brown-nosing Stripe.

Lalabadie··on DeepSeek V4 Pro 0813
With Deepseek as the provider, there's no issue of course, but that means you don't filter providers for data retention, and you could also choose direct API use with them at that point.
Lalabadie··on DeepSeek V4 Pro 0813
In my experience, that's the OpenRouter tax. Even a session that does everything right to remain sticky ends up getting moved between providers on a few requests, which bills you the full context as input every time the switch happens.

I assume it's done as load balancing/latency mitigation, but it's put me off of OpenRouter for my use cases (limited use, limited need for changing models).

Lalabadie··on Banksy works cost public almost £150k
That's true, though it's worth noting that Banksy's pest control – the people who certify that an artwork is legitimate – will always identify anything not meant to be sold as a fake, so resale is a lot more limited than anything meant for galleries and auctions.
Lalabadie··on A year of fighting scrapers on my 1.5 million-page website
The author's website is responsible for storing its own data. AI services currently treat the entire web as their storage and cache layer.
Lalabadie··on The "Disability Dongle": Why Silicon Valley Hates Me and You
You replied "Letting perfect be the enemy of good" several times in the comments here. I think the sentence works against the arguments you're making:

Perfect is the promise of a climb-everywhere-wheelchair. It's hypothetical, dreamed up, and causing people to forego the immediate and good solution (ramps).

Lalabadie··on AirLLM 70B inference with single 4GB GPU
"This one is made with premium vibes"
