KumarAseem··on Nearly the hottest place on Earth, India swelters under intense heat wave
Well, there are many summer drinks, depending on which region you are in. Some of them are:

Aam Panna, Bel ka Sharbat, JalJeera, Shikanji, Neera, Ragi ambli, Jigar Thanda, Nannari, Kokam Sharbat, Coconut water, Chaach/ButterMilk, Thandai, Roohafza,

and many more...

KumarAseem··on Covid-19: India excess deaths cross four million, says study
The cost of space missions done by ISRO is extremely low. Even if you cancel all the space missions, the money saved will be in pennies and the loss of tech know how will be enormous.

The wastage of finances is in other areas. Full page advertisements by govt departments on nonsensical things. Useless litigations. Implementing big changes to laws and systems without proper discussions and studies. Awarding contracts to entities whose track record is a bad one. And so on.

India has become a morally poor nation and 90% of the citizens do not try to see and understand the big picture. They have on interest in spending time to learn what is happening in their nation and see what is happening in other nations and then question why we are doing things in proven wrong ways.

Indians believe more in what is circulated on whatsapp and facebook than if you get a bunch of Nobel winners to explain the truth.

KumarAseem··on India’s second wave of Covid-19 feels nothing like its first
Yes, correct. The govt reporting of every figure is less by a factor anywhere from 10-50, or maybe even more as well. The ground reality in India is way worse than what even the media is able to show. And, at present no light in the tunnel. Heart cries at this but it is us at fault only for putting such incompetent people at the helm.

Browsing data which may not be getting collected through telemetry hopefully.
KumarAseem··on Leaked documents expose Avast antivirus subsidiary selling web browsing data
What is there to prevent Microsoft from not having Defender monitor and report the traffic back to MS once it has gained a big foothold? MS with Win10 forcefully collects a lot of data and adding a little bit of data through Defender will give them a really huge(complete) picture.
KumarAseem··on Google’s new reCAPTCHA has a dark side
I got 0.7 on FF, 0.3 on Opera and Chrome, all in incognito mode. Maybe they have just a few values and return it based on AND OR logic of 2-4 variable. Or maybe they are just playing around trying to gather some stats, for some "Don't be Evil" purpose!
KumarAseem··on The cost of raising a child in America has soared (2018)
I think it has raised in most of the countries.

In India, raising a child now is a very tough one. 1) Health Insurance - Not everyone has it and many who have turns out to be not sufficient. 2) Education - Schooling has become extremely expensive. There is not much regulation and schools apply a lot of tricks to get money from you, mainly under the guise of extra-curricular activities or development. They force the parents to pay, and legal recourse isn't available. 3) Health again - With the bad air, water and food that the children are getting these days, a lot of them get some or the other illness on a regular basis, which forces the kids to visit doctors frequently and take medicines. These all doctor visits don't get covered under insurance a lot of times. Kids of today are not developing a strong immune system. To top it all, many parents don't let their kids play outside. They give them a mobile and think they have done their duty.

I forsee a very bad/difficult future for a lot of children.

KumarAseem··on India has the highest data usage per smartphone
They had the advantage that they did not have any legacy systems to take care off. All the other operators have to take care of 2G and 3G network supporting infra along with putting in investment for 4G. So, Jio had a lot of money to use to grab the customers by offering free deals. They applied the approach of cannibalistic business growth. Also, there network is not good anymore now, as the subscriber base has grown. I have seen cross connects happening which used to happen in the days of landlines. Cross-connect, not sure if all know it by the same name, is when you call a number and you get connected to some other number. I have never faced this with other providers like Airtel, Idea and Vodafone in 13+ years of mobile phone usage. Jio is now in the same league as others, and is actually bad at the customer front level when compared to Airtel and Vodafone+Idea. This is from my own experience and of those in the close circle.
KumarAseem··on If You Care About Privacy, Throw Your Amazon Alexa Devices into the Sea
Do you have any points written out with examples when you explain to your folks? I could use those. Thumbs Up!!! for being successful in weaning a person off from such portals and getting them to understand Privacy and Security.
KumarAseem··on Product Updates Based on Your Feedback
Out of the total population of the chrome users, how many really use more than 1 computer? These benefits may apply only for few users, probably in single percentage figures, which does not justify pushing it down the throats of everyone.
KumarAseem··on Automakers working to transform data from cars into secondary revenue streams
We won't be able to buy such cars also in next 10-20 years as by then every manufacturer would have included partial or complete data gathering on their units. If they are doing it so should I so I can stay in business is the concept being followed. This can only be controlled through strict laws, and that is a sorry state of affairs anyway. :(
KumarAseem··on [dead]
wow! The rate of interest is almost equivalent to what private money lenders charge, and you say on your site "Low Interest..." And why are you asking for Aadhar card when RBI states in its notification that asking for Aadhar details is dependent on the verdict from Supreme court?
KumarAseem··on Forgotten Employee (2002)

KumarAseem··on The end of Iridium flares?
That's a beautiful memory for me too! A lot of us gathered in the college ground and spent 1-2 hours watching the beautiful spectacle. I started to count, and then after sometime just gave up the counting. Never have got another chance after 1998 to see so many in one night.
KumarAseem··on Amazon Offers Retailers Discounts to Adopt Payment System
Their wording is very confusing for me - "To opt-out from our anonymization of your personal information to perform data analyses, please provide your Mastercard or Maestro payment card number below."

To me it sounds like, "we are anonymizing your personal info, but you can opt-out and allow us to perform data analytics using your personal info as it is."

KumarAseem··on Ask HN: Do you think there is an opportunity for a better alternative to Upwork?
When it was Odesk, and had just started, I grabbed my first project. I have done very few projects (not a developer) on it as I couldn't take the time out to keep hunting for work and give long term commitments. And then when it became Upwork, finding even small work became a big pain.

I feel that it is not just the freelancers to be always blamed. I have seen jobs wherein the client will say that this needs to be done in 2-3$ and in specific amount of time, which is impossible. Then there were those who would post jobs but wouldn't exactly know what they want and wouldn't give out details.

The platform was good when it was Odesk. With it becoming Upwork, the changes have made the platform worse in my opinion. Not that many people don't still post good work and hire good resources, but something else can sure fill the gap, if it can figure out a way to better the rating and skill selection system.

And to those who keep saying that people from 3rd world countries have ruined it, that's a totally nonsensical thought. Idiots and scammers are to be found in every part of the world. Yes, people from Africa, Asia and South America are able to charge less, which is because of low cost of living in such countries. You (people from 1st world countries) want to save money by letting a low cost worker do your work (keeping a big share of money without doing work) and happy when that happens, but the moment your job gets threatened, you start shouting. Wow!!!

KumarAseem··on Israeli government’s call for mandatory biometric ID system met with backlash
It is the same in India, and I guess same everywhere. Because of people being illiterate and with the attitude of "this can never happen to me", we have a unique ID system forced down the throat of the citizens.
KumarAseem··on India's demonetisation of Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 notes
In India, it is mostly the poor who don't have CC. Every upper class person has multiple CCs and most of the middle class, specially those in the age of 20-40 have atleast one CC. People may keep just one debit card but they do keep multiple CCs. And now even the poor have bank accounts and many have debit cards.

KumarAseem··on Homeopathic remedies recalled for containing real medicine
So if I was taking Fake/No medication, then I should believe that my body developed the ability to fight and stop the disease without any the help of any external agent just because my brain was thinking that I am taking real medication?
KumarAseem··on Homeopathic remedies recalled for containing real medicine
My problem was not that developed in a month or two but was there from a long time and it took couple of months after I started taking the medicine to get cured and I could see the effect on myself on a weekly basis (It wasn't that one day I woke up and found that I am cured).

And you mean to say that just because my mind thought that what I am taking is real medicine hence my body developed the immunity to fight back the bacterial growth by itself? It is not necessary that what people do not understand now does not mean that it is wrong/flawed/fake. We are not so advanced to know each and everything about chemistry and biology and human body.

I have seen multiple results and have also tested myself by stopping the medication and again starting it and seeing the results for numerous other ailments, hence my belief stands.

KumarAseem··on Homeopathic remedies recalled for containing real medicine
I am from India and I also am a regular user of homeopathy. In case it was all placebo and fools your brain in thinking that you are actually taking some real stuff in and not just sugar and water and you see the effect physically on your body then you would have found mention of this in Ayurveda and Yoga since both stress on meditation which is a way to control your own energy and mind state and by doing meditation you would have been able to cure your body of every disease.

And allopathy is a major money earner for a lot of corporations and they go to every effort to tell the people that any other medicine system be it unani, ayurveda, acupuncture, acupressure, homeopathy, etc are false and bad.

In case you have not tried homeopathy then give it a go for small illness like fever, diarrhea, body pains, etc and test it for yourself. Also go to a doctor who is recommended by someone. Doctor's knowledge is the most important part in homeopathy as it is in all other non-allopathic systems.

KumarAseem··on Homeopathic remedies recalled for containing real medicine
"Please note, the types of things homeopathy is prescribed for are self limiting. Your body will heal over time without intervention, so yes! You will feel an improvement! The remedy you took has nothing to do with it though."

Not exactly. The medicine course brought the illness down to a level where i could really not make out if I still have the problem or not. The problem again surfaced to a very lesser extent after 3 years of finishing the course. What I am talking about is Sinusitis and there is no treatment of it in allopathy apart from operation and the allopathic doctors themselves say that after operation it will again return in 1-2 years.

Why I said that I do not believe the tests that are done by US agencies because most of the tests that are done by US agencies come out to be heavily influenced by the private sector companies who have their business interest in those studies incase the result come out that go against what they claim after few years when skeletons tumble out. I do not reside in US so my opinions are based on what I read in major newspapers.

So you can downvote me to any extent but I have experienced the results on myself and have seen the difference and hence highly doubt those studies. And when I say the doctor really matters that is because you can go for the same illness to many doctors and the medicines that some will give you will show less/no effect at all. So the experience level and understanding of different chemicals and their bonding really does matter.

KumarAseem··on Homeopathic remedies recalled for containing real medicine
I have no idea on how they do those clinical studies which say that there is no difference between a placebo and actual homeopathic medicines. And what I read of USA, I have doubts that these studies are really done by independent personnel and not by those who get directly/indirectly paid by companies like Merck, J&J, etc.

I myself take homeopathic medicines for various ailments (small or big) and have seen improvement in my physical condition every time. Also a lot of people I know rely on homeopathy and not one has ever said that it did not give the desired results. The only factor is that the doctor should be able to diagnose the patient properly and have enough knowledge to understand how each chemical interacts with the body and with other chemical to be able to make a compound that will help the body in overcoming the disease. Homeopathy is as much about the medicines as it is about the knowledge and experience of the doctor.

5) Do not delete any mail/written communication you or your peers had with them. Do not give the originals to anyone except the court no matter what reason they give.
KumarAseem··on RubyConf India – Hospitality was anything but pleasant at The Lalit Goa
Do this:

1) Approach a good lawyer to send a legal letter to the hotel putting in all the problems and demand a huge compensation.

2) File a case in the consumer court of Goa, if no proper response from the hotel.

3) If the lawyer finds no issues then approach local and national news/press agencies and get your story published there. Anything that comes in the news papers has a far greater impact and makes such businesses get down on their knees.

4) Do not delay in filing the case. Do it ASAP.

I wish you get a decent compensation though Indian courts are not known for that.
