Konohamaru··on Show HN: AI generated puzzles from Wikipedia articles
This is an extremely fun game. Thank you!
Konohamaru··on Ask HN: How do you fight unjust bans from online platforms?
You can't fight City Hall.
Konohamaru··on The leap second’s time is up: world votes to stop pausing clocks
It's a euphemism for J-sus.

“In this is love, not that we loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the expiation for our sins.” (1 Jn. 4:10)

Konohamaru··on The Velveteen Rabbit was always more than a children’s book
Here is the worst part of the Lake of Fire: "And the smoke of their torment will rise for ever and ever. THERE WILL BE NO REST day or night for those who worship the beast and its image, or for anyone who receives the mark of its name." (Revelation 14:11)

Have you ever suffered from insomnia? You cannot think about anything, you cannot focus on anything, you cannot do anything. You just have one overwhelming thought in your mind: to go to sleep. Imagine that forever and ever. That is far worse than any physical pain one can experience.

Meanwhile, there will be many sensual delights in the New Jerusalem, but the best one will be the freedom to sleep any time you want.

> geez

This is a euphemism. Please don't use it.

Konohamaru··on The leap second’s time is up: world votes to stop pausing clocks
It was from a skit on the Colbert Report (can't remember the episode). He talks about how NASA added a leap second and then pulled out this comical "second-by-second" year planner and said his plans are ruined because he doesn't know what to do with the extra second. Wish I could remember it.
Konohamaru··on The leap second’s time is up: world votes to stop pausing clocks
It's not comparable because computers are things but women are not.
Konohamaru··on The Velveteen Rabbit was always more than a children’s book
*"end is good" meaning "he is all right && he didn't harm anybody else in the process".
Konohamaru··on The leap second’s time is up: world votes to stop pausing clocks
Maybe he should get Stephen Colbert's second-by-second day planner.
Konohamaru··on Ask HN: What Is a COO?
No, delete this. I don't want to portray J-sus as someone evil.
Konohamaru··on The Velveteen Rabbit was always more than a children’s book
Better than 10,000 years of happiness, bliss, and productive work followed by an eternity in the Lake of Fire.
Konohamaru··on Ask HN: What Is a COO?
To use an analogy from Catholic theology, J-sus would be analogous to the company owner while the Pope would be analogous to the COO. Hope that helps on providing understanding.

Thank you!

All's well that ends well - William Shakespeare. I'm not trolling. I literally believe that during a person's life, absolutely nothing matters except the final state at death. No matter what happens to him in the intervening time, if the end is good, it's all good. And I believe this with 100% no wiggle room.
Konohamaru··on The Velveteen Rabbit was always more than a children’s book
Why? It has a happy ending.

Konohamaru··on The Creator of the Oculus Rift Built a VR Headset That Can Kill You for Real
Horrifying. Some people are mad.
Konohamaru··on The type system is a programmer's best friend
I don't know if you're a theist, but you can pray for divine grace that this blockage go away. Other religions like Buddhism also teach the power of positive intentions in releasing spiritual blockage.
Konohamaru··on The type system is a programmer's best friend
That's not possible, because I can't discern the final cause of all these theorems and definitions in "a whole bunch of stuff". It all comes off as a game of defining abstract objects just for their own sake.
Konohamaru··on Ask HN: How do I become more future-oriented?
In 1 year, the world will be the same, except with more political turmoil and social agitation.

In 10 years, the world will be in deeper social disintegration due to clashing personality types, in addition to the fact that the dinosaurs holding onto the current economic system will be resisting transition to a more logical economic system.

In 100 years, humanity will have completely rebuilt the international social order due to climate change, and new technology in addition to thr rediscovery of old technology (e.g. nuclear) will be implemented to deal with the new agricultural and geographic realities caused by climate change. We'll also have mass migrants from Africa to more climate hospitable regions like Canada.

1,000 years into the future is very far. It could be possible that we're living in a world where AI is the dominant form of intelligent life, but I still don't think humanity will have left the solar system. Traveling extreme spatial distances is extremely difficult in this type of universe.

Any feedback?

You know those "how to draw Bugs Bunny" art guides they used to include in children's art books? Where they begin with a circle with some guidelines and then do a whole bunch of stuff and the end result is Bugs Bunny? But you have no idea how they went from Point A to Point B? That's the same thing with Type Theory.

PROFESSOR: Well, you see, there are different objects, like strings and numbers, that are shaped differently, so we put them into different categories. Those are types! See how simple this is?

<a whole bunch of stuff later>

PROFESSOR: Now the endofunctor of the covariant types are jointly distributed under the free monoid, provided that the pullback doesn't reverberate the time fibration of the dependent type space.

Konohamaru··on Ask HN: How do I become more future-oriented?
What does that look like?
Konohamaru··on Impact of height and weight on life span
Romantic relationships aren't essential for quality of life. In fact, romantic relationships are biologically designed for "preparing" you to become a mother-father couple for the purpose of child rearing. Sex and romance are ultimately for the good of the species, not the individual.

If you want to be happy, cultivate friendships.

Konohamaru··on Ask HN: What is your experience with SSRIs?
It can cause permanent orgasm dysfunction and might also cause "compulsive" behaviors like pacing (SSRIs affect the extrapyramidal system). Repeat: these side effects may continue forever, even after you get off the medications. Same deal with SNRIs. Also most psychiatric drugs increase the risk of suicide.

Psychiatrists like downplaying these side effects, so if you ask one about them, you'll leave with a feeling that it's "no big deal." This feeling is artificially induced and is the result of emotional manipulation.

You might be suffering from bottled up emotional trauma. Find a good therapist. But whatever you do, demand that the therapist not use cognitive behavioral therapy. CBT is how people with narcissistic personality disorder think.

Konohamaru··on Buddhism has found a new institutional home in the West: the corporation
Of course it would. Buddhism teaches karma, the law of strict retribution from which there is no escape. And because there is no loving creator God in Buddhism, there's no one you can appeal to for mercy, grace, or forgiveness. A perfect fit.
Konohamaru··on U.K. considering abandoning metric system

Konohamaru··on The Highland Park suspect breaks the mold on violent extremists
I have a tip on a strange clique like the one described in that article. Where should I submit it?
Konohamaru··on Why isn't the internet more fun and weird? (2019)
The answer to the title's question:

"There will be no curiosity, no enjoyment of the process of life. All competing pleasures will be destroyed. But always— do not forget this, Winston— always there will be the intoxication of power, constantly increasing and constantly growing subtler. Always, at every moment, there will be the thrill of victory, the sensation of trampling on an enemy who is helpless. If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face— forever." - George Orwell, 1984
