> 100 Times safer cars

I wish companies would back up numbers like this. Are they really going to reduce the number of accidents on the road by a factor of 100 due to a better os? I really struggle to believe that.

Kluggy··on Don Lemon says Elon Musk canceled his deal with X after 'tense' interview
Who did the PR stunt?

Elon? he offered multiple millions of dollar contract to Don Lemon to then pull it after one show to improve his PR image?

Don Lemon? he's unemployed and accepted a multiple million dollar contract, to do one show and planned on pissing off musk enough to get musk to pull his contract for some pr?

Who gets what benefit from this?

Kluggy··on Don Lemon says Elon Musk canceled his deal with X after 'tense' interview
so you're thinking it was better for him to give up a multimillion dollar opportunity in exchange for some PR and ability to blame someone else when they fail?

I really don't get how this narrative makes any sense at all. According to the article, Musk/X was the one that pulled the plug on the show, not Don Lemon.

I really just don't understand the benefit being claimed from this is.

Kluggy··on Ageism Haunts Some Tech Workers in the Race to Get Hired
Our industry isn't powered by the rare genius, but by the magnitude of line coders that the best impact they can do is just not cause issues as they develop the next version that adds feature x and y promised by some sales engineer to a big client.

Sure, by 40 you're not likely to change the world. But in your 20's, you're not likely to change the world either. It's a long shot. Focusing on the fact that the long shot odds gets worse as a reason to not hire people just doesn't make sense.

Kluggy··on Rabbit Inc. Faked Their Demo (Again)
Even clicking the wrong link, the audio says

"Our mission is to create the simplest computer, something so intuitive you don't need to learn to use it"

and the transcript for the one they selected says

"The meeting focused on creating a simple and intuitive computer, without the need for learning how to use it".

So while it's understandable they selected the wrong entry, it is a bit curious that the audio mismatches from the transcript of the one they selected.

Perhaps they're running the audio capture though some sort of GPT to make it more like naturally written?

Kluggy··on S3 is files, but not a filesystem
Reed-Solomon would allow you to lose any one of the three and recover. Losing two would be catastrophic.

AWS's guarantee is that you can lose two of the three copies and still have all the data. You can't do that without three complete copies.

Some shareholder benefited a lot. Some bought at the top and have only had negative returns. Some have a net zero cause the bought at this point on the way up.

Just because some people have astronomical returns doesn't mean everyone received the same.
