KerbalNo15··on HP Reveals Keyboard Computer with Ryzen AI Chip
Incorrectly advertising battery capacity as 32W instead of (presumably) 32WH is a hilarious mistake for a company the size of HP
KerbalNo15··on Microsoft won't let me pay a $24 bill, blocking thousands in Azure spending
IMO, take your money somewhere else. You don't want this to happen again later with more disasterous consequences.

KerbalNo15··on SMS 2FA is not just insecure, it's also hostile to mountain people
Voip.ms is fairly inexpensive (a couple dollars per month) and if you get an SMS-capable line you can set it up to forward incoming SMS to email. Edit: I have not tested it with short codes
KerbalNo15··on Show HN: My from-scratch OS kernel that runs DOOM

KerbalNo15··on We're Still Not Done with Jesus
This is a deep topic. First, God is not the author of evil [James 1:13, Ezekiel 33:10-11]. You can read through Genesis 2-3 to get a good idea of why we're separated from God in the first place. God doesn't owe us forgiveness- as Creator he has every right not to save anyone. It's out of His grace that forgiveness/reconciliation is offered. A lot of people have trouble with the idea of a God who punishes/will punish their wrongdoings, but the central message of the Bible (back to that Ezekiel reference agin) is that God saves us *because He loves us* and that we are saved not simply from our own evil, but from *His just wrath*.

How then is God a just judge, if He both promises to judge evil and refrains from punishing those who are forgiven? Their punishment is poured out on Jesus instead. That's the Gospel. He died willingly so that they can have life. If you believe, this is for you too.

KerbalNo15··on Rapidly accelerating glacier melt in Alaska
Perhaps bias from most other HN articles, but I read this as [A method for] rapidly accelerating glacier melt in Alaska.
KerbalNo15··on Ask HN: Is there any software you only made for your own use but nobody else?
I have a lot of things like this. Mostly one-offs for bizarre stuff, like a FUSE plugin that saves data to FAT-formatted image files. Some things, though, I consider useful enough to post on Github for people who might need it. My favorite (and most-used, personally) is an app I made to copy files off of my Panasonic cameras. They still work perfectly well, but the official app no longer works to send pics via wifi. I had to reverse-engineer the entire protocol stack from network traffic, it's a doozy. I ended up implementing SSDP from scratch and faking DLNA server support, along with the miserable SOAP protocol. It's a beautiful mess, but it works. Got me back into Android development too.

Ouch, feels bad man. Do you have anyone you can reach out to? Friends/family/church family, Support networks are super important for times like this.
KerbalNo15··on Aramaic original New Testament theory
Yup, I took a Biblical Hermeneutics class last year and the level of agreement between modern texts and archeological evidence staggered me. Really opened my eyes to how God has preserved His Word throughout the centuries.
