KeplerBoy··on Gemini 4 Argon
Why would they want this out the day after openai dev day and after both anthropic and openai had major releases the previous week?
KeplerBoy··on Gemini 4 Argon
It absolutely has auto mode.
KeplerBoy··on Gemini 4 Argon
How else would it work? Less technical people don't even watch their context usage.
KeplerBoy··on PS5 Relapse Exploit
They should be angry at sony? wtf?

It's literally their job to keep their consoles safe, this is not just about piracy. A vulnerable console could do all kinds of stuff users don't want.

Then also piracy: The game industry is already struggling, good luck explaining that one of the rare non live service offline single player games (after all those are the games most hurt by piracy), which has been in development for years, didn't sell because you left a disclosed exploit wide open and now everyone loses their jobs.

KeplerBoy··on GPT 6.1 Sol: Near-Astra intelligence for a fifth of the price
It's still insane that they stopped showing you all the tokens you pay for. They could inflate the billed reasoning token amount by a lot before it would raise any eyebrows.
KeplerBoy··on ESP32S3 cluster running 1.58-bit (BitNet) Language model
Change the year 3000 to the 2030s and it might be just as accurate.
KeplerBoy··on World Labs Is Joining AMD
Gaussian splatting is the rendering technique of projecting the gaussians into the 2D viewport. How you obtain the gaussians in the first place is a different question (feed forward prediction vs. iterative gradient descent fitting).
KeplerBoy··on The problem is not the AI code, but nobody knows anything anymore
It solved coding as in it's significantly less of a bottleneck than it was before.

At least that's how I experience it. In the before times each non-trivial code change had a real opportunity cost as it would easily consume two days until I could even estimate whether this is worth looking deeper into.

KeplerBoy··on 16GB iPod Nano 3G Upgrade
Yes, you're probably right. Ipod nanos already started from ~150$ 20 years ago.
KeplerBoy··on 16GB iPod Nano 3G Upgrade
That would at the very least have to have Bluetooth (and at that point they might as well add wifi, since that is more or less the same modem).

That would make a damn nice 149$ apple music machine, slap some stripped down firmware on it, so they can argue why it only supports apple music streaming.

KeplerBoy··on Platform-Independent SIMD in Go
Does matlab these days do stuff like JIT operator fusing to avoid memory roundtrips and take advantage of FMAs?
KeplerBoy··on VSCode's SSH Agent Is Bananas (2025)
off topic, but I feel this observation was quite early in feb' 2025: "LLM-generated code is useful in the general case if you know what you’re doing. But it’s ultra-useful if you can close the loop between the LLM and the execution environment (with an “Agent” setup)."

kudos

KeplerBoy··on Claude Opus 5.5
With the pi harness it just opens the browser (or gives you a link if you're on headless) and you sign on as usual.
KeplerBoy··on Claude Opus 5.5
Anything else would be inconsistent, wouldn't it?
KeplerBoy··on Qwen Image 2.1
True, but my pockets aren't deep enough to be the one who wants to figure that out in court.
KeplerBoy··on Samsung is expected to more than double output of its HBM4 and HBM4E DRAM
MacBooks use regular soldered lpddr5(x) RAM. Same RAM as every other laptop manufacturer, they just use more lanes to achieve a higher bandwidth.
KeplerBoy··on Qwen Image 2.1
You talked about commercially deploying it. Of course nobody cares what you are doing on your own hardware for fun.
KeplerBoy··on Qwen Image 2.1
Yes? If you deploy the model and provide it on Openrouter (or elsewhere) you better have a license.
KeplerBoy··on Brood War Bench
Maybe one could try to reconstruct very closely matched replay files?
KeplerBoy··on Jobs Without LeetCode
Why not? It seems more important than ever that people know how to actually code, now that everyone can produce endless code of untested quality.
KeplerBoy··on OpenAI Model Misalignment Report
I feel like they should just publish the whole conversation at this point. What the hell is going on in that context window?
KeplerBoy··on Steam Frame starts at $1059
It's a lot easier for developers to target a known platform.
KeplerBoy··on Fable 5.1 Solves the Cyphral Distich, a 370-year-old cipher
might?
KeplerBoy··on Navier-Stokes Announcement
It's not a large prize though.

OpenAI spent many multiples of the prize money in just a few days to get there and even if one solves a problem in the traditional way, that person is most likely already an accomplished professor at a reputable university where a million dollars doesn't mean as much as the eternal fame that comes with it.

KeplerBoy··on OpenAI’s Navier-Stokes release included a Lean 4 formal proof
Nothing happens I guess. If the AI can't communicate its work or apply it to anything, it's useless and funding for those experiments will quickly dry up.
KeplerBoy··on The Navier–Stokes Millennium Prize Problem
I wonder if it's the same with the sub 2 hour marathon which was broken this year (it certainly was with the 4 minute mile).
KeplerBoy··on The Navier–Stokes Millennium Prize Problem
SQL is so ubiquitous and the use case so obvious, there's no way they have not already been tracking performance and benchmaxxing on SQL queries for years.

But I don't think openai will bother to release a competitor, the real threat is that anyone with a decent LLM and a harness to try a few queries will land at the same or a better query within minutes.

KeplerBoy··on The Navier–Stokes Millennium Prize Problem
I would assume a lot of codex data goes back into training. A well steered session is extremely valuable data.
KeplerBoy··on Tesla killing Solar Roof is leaving installers with six-figure losses
Works perfectly fine in Europe.

KeplerBoy··on Tiny $70 Xteink X3 e-reader
"In a sense, it is that. Xteink sounds less like a real brand name than the kind of garbled text you’ll find in AI-slop memes."

I think it's a great name. To me it reads like "extend e-ink", crazy how perception can be so different.
