Caveat: previously worked at Prime Video though not in this area, still at Amazon
At ChowNow, we build online ordering systems for thousands of restaurants. We're launching new projects in the coming months that I'm really excited about. Most recently, we launched https://eat.chownow.com and the iOS app (https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/chownow-food-delivery-and-re...). I love working here as a software engineer. It's a great balance of challenge, responsibility, and freedom.
We're looking to bring on a Principal Front End Engineer to help us build out the new products and update some of the existing ones. We use React for our newest projects and have some Ember.js projects too. The position is here: http://bit.ly/chownow-frontend
In addition, we'd like to hire another senior-level backend / full-stack engineer to work on our Python-based services (http://bit.ly/chownow-fullstack). This is the team I'm on! We have interesting opportunities coming up related to scaling, architecture, and new products.
You can find all our open positions at https://jobs.lever.co/chownow?lever-via=MO5-ac-qvc or read more about ChowNow on Glassdoor (http://bit.ly/chownow-glassdoor). If you have questions what it's like to work here, please contact me at kevinlondon@chownow.com or Candice, our recruiter, at candice@chownow.com. Thanks!

How are these false claims? The executive order directly mentions religious grounds and allows "minority religions" in the 7 listed majority Muslim countries to be allowed in while prohibiting the rest.
At ChowNow, we build online ordering systems for thousands of restaurants and millions of diners. We're launching a few new products soon that I'm excited about. I love working here as an engineer. It's a great balance of challenge, freedom, and impact.
We've been growing quickly and we're looking to hire an Operations (DevOps) engineer! As background, we had a manually configured AWS infrastructure that we've retired in favor of an Ansible / Terraform-based setup. We've automated infrastructure and our deploy process so it's a great time to come in and shape where we go from here.
We also have positions open for a Principal Front-End Engineer (Ember.js / Node) and a Data Analyst on our careers page at https://jobs.lever.co/chownow?lever-via=MO5-ac-qvc.

I didn't have a Computer Science undergrad degree, so perhaps I have a different outlook on this than you did. I'm currently working as a software engineer, so I'm also not forgoing earning a living by taking the time off from school.
In other words, while I can understand why you feel disappointed by your educational experience, there are other lenses through which this program makes sense. I feel good about having gone through it so far and I'm looking forward to finishing.

We've been growing quickly and we're looking to hire a DevOps engineer! For some background, we had a manually configured AWS infrastructure that we've just retired in favor of an Ansible / Terraform-based setup. We've automated infrastructure and deploys so it's a great time to come in and shape where we go from here. For example:
* Dockerize everything?
* Build out a Kubernetes cluster for our services?
* Use Spinnaker for a Continuous Delivery pipeline?
To be determined!

Finding humor's tough! I've read some papers on finding humor in reviews, e.g. https://cs224d.stanford.edu/reports/OliveiraLuke.pdf. That's been helpful. It'd be great if I could use the Yelp review set for finding humor as they did but the humor doesn't translate between data sets. Mostly it's still manual curation, which is ok too.
I posted a few of my favorites from last year here: https://www.kevinlondon.com/2015/09/10/10-software-talks-to-...
I, too, generally dislike software podcasts in the car. For me, they usually are paced more conversationally, so I find that I get disinterested.
I'd also recommend against using a production dataset for your dev database.
