KON_Air··on Apocalyptic Claims About Climate Change Are Wrong
Of course it will be spent on financial markets and derivatives. Why else do you think Al Gore is pumping out teenage enviromental activists?
KON_Air··on Half-Life: Alyx
I can see that happening but consider this; the closest "character" they have to "player character" with a voice is Alyx.
KON_Air··on Deep learning has a size problem
I find this weird too, question of "miniaturization" should come after theoretical stage is satisfied. Is this coming from a line of thinking where capitalistic sense avoids high costs or strict design sensibility where optimizition is a primary concern? The nuance is tiny but very important.
KON_Air··on America’s sex recession could lead to an economic depression
It mentions sex-bot industry and social media, but sure writer should have elobrated where AI fits in those at least a little.
KON_Air··on Migrating Russian eagles run up data roaming charges
Or better yet an agreement with gsm operators were made ahead of the time so they did not charge the "eagle calls", and they were all made to a single cloud-or-whatever-distribution-center.
KON_Air··on My company sold for $100M and I got zilch – how can that be?
funding where higher risk takers get paid more but "controlling rights" remains with smaller invester(s), so I guess MS didn't want to give up any control by selling shares, other then select few.
KON_Air··on Twitter, Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram Restricted in Southern Turkey
I don't see how betrayal comes into play, that is the function Kurds chose as mercenaries in Middle East. They essentially play "Red Communist State" vs American brand of "Nationalist" Turkey/Syria.. etc. They did in Iraq and got themselves a semi-independent feudal state, this time Syria held on with Russia and they are getting nothing.
KON_Air··on Whatever happened to Six Sigma?
If thing explode and you can't do anything about it then you are clearly in a cargo cult, not under a management that understood the underlaying philosophy; it is a glorified flow chart and you have to come up with your own practices for each step unique to your own process(es).
KON_Air··on Have You Ever Tried to Sell a Diamond? (1982)
From the dates of post we get;

-Have You Ever Tried to Sell a Diamond?; September Months from Filing to Divorce:7, June MFD:4, Debruary MFD:0/12

-Diamonds are Bullshit; May MFD:3, March MFD:1, March MFD:1

-Diamonds Suck; May, November, February

There is a study which found spike at filing divorces at February; https://www.theatlantic.com/health/archive/2016/08/why-divor...

From this with MFD values it is (not) sensible to say these people want a divorce and seriously don't want to keep the ring and disappointed at the prices they got.

Then there is this (probably doesn't really warrant being called a) study put marriage spikes to October, September and June; https://www.theknot.com/content/is-there-an-off-season-for-w...

From this it is (an even shakier prediction) to say these were asked to (or tasked with) buy a diamond ring, vehemently opposed it and wants rest of the world how to avoid it.

KON_Air··on Why didn't the Romans contribute much to mathematics?
I "belivie" it is effect of cumulative knowledge from all their trade partners, who when put together is pretty much everyone on the planet at the time, since they were physically at the center of trade routes.
KON_Air··on ‘They Get Fired All the Time. And They Have No Idea Why’
It reads more like a couple of people on the spectrum and then people who decided they have to be on the spectrum.
KON_Air··on Filling hospitals with art reduces patient stress, anxiety and pain
Rather then anxious I'd be dissapointed because I didn't walk out as a biomechanical cyborg.
KON_Air··on Riichi Mahjong Strategy Books
I think every modern iteration has Mahjong, but Kiwami 2 also has a pretty good Shogi minigame.
KON_Air··on Grumpy Cat has died
"The cat from Arizona had "helped millions of people smile"."

It always made me cringe as it was a freakshow caused by selective breeding.

KON_Air··on Material Design Guidelines for Dark Mode
I don't find these things really work as well as a real misaligned offset printer.
KON_Air··on Amazon rolls out machines that pack orders and replace jobs
I would like to remind you such machines are not built because it requires some genius touch in design, they are not built because there is little demand for them. But yeah, tool being not locked under some patent by some monopoly or the other is a good thing.
KON_Air··on What a Midwife Wishes People Knew About Her Job
Absolutely, especially artists should pay their employers for the exposure they get.
KON_Air··on A researcher needed three hours to identify me from my DNA
to me the biggest surprise is the fact it took 3 hours.
KON_Air··on Why Can't Hollywood Make a Good Video Game Movie?
Sharlto Copley as %90 of all "NPCs" made that movie better then it had any right to be.
KON_Air··on Giraffes Added to the Endangered Species List (2016)
Well isn't it if the organization is large enough?
KON_Air··on Spacewar: Fanatic Life and Symbolic Death Among the Computer Bums (1972)
At first thought why didn't they dump the memory, print it out and find it, after all they did write everything "raw". But then I realized by the time they could dump-print-find, it would have moved on.

It is glorious.

KON_Air··on Grumpy Cat wins payout in copyright lawsuit
I know but, when you are selective breeding for stuff like dwarfism, malformed skulls and other plethora of "cuteness" which are not exactly beneficial for the animal.
KON_Air··on Grumpy Cat wins payout in copyright lawsuit
what I find even weirder is people not being turned off the fact that cat is a living genetic dumpster.
KON_Air··on Board games are back, thanks to lessons designers learned from computer games
I played every CS except CS:GO and despite all the changes and the focus on selling clown guns I'm pretty sure it is still a "complete the objective against the clock" game.

Unless it is poolday.

KON_Air··on Flat-Earther Set to Launch Himself in Own Rocket
They teleport to the opposite edge when they hit one. It is common knowledge to anyone played Asteroids. http://www.freeasteroids.org/
KON_Air··on The Girl with the Brick Earring
I remember bending out of shape trying to code a program for my mother to help with her (short lived) cross-stitching adventures. Gave up and discovered program (lot's of them as a matter of fact) which prepared excel sheets from image files and decided on colours based on thread manufacturer catalogs.

I'll say cross-stitchers beat everyone to it.

KON_Air··on The Uncanny Resurrection of Dungeons and Dragons
C# should cover everything (or GURPS), it can do anything, if you can keep up with its caprices (a billion rulebooks) and afford the hardware (7/24 caffeine injections) to keep it going.
KON_Air··on Use of English and Chinese in Alibaba’s Alipay Advertisements
English translations on cheaper end, especially manuals for electronic appliances tend to be awesome and Heavy Metal.

ONE MUST TAKE THESE STEPS TO ENSURE PLEASANT EXPERIENCE TO FOLLOW WHILE HOLDING THIS PART INSTEAD OF DEATH BY PAIN OF ELECTROCUTION.

Hell yeah, it is just a 9v adaptor!

KON_Air··on Arabic characters found woven into burial costumes from Viking boat graves
Which are just basic patterns that require a mirror and imagination to be read as Arabic.

edit; I'm not ruling out interraction or even Muslim Vikings but reading Allah on that fabric is just absurd.

KON_Air··on Arabic characters found woven into burial costumes from Viking boat graves
To be honest "Allah on mirror" sounds like "Jesus on toast".
