KKKKkkkk1··on I don't want to read what you didn't write
So I spent a full workday investigating an issue with an agent and then I spent another hour prompting the agent to summarize the findings so that I can send them to a colleague. How does what you're saying come anywhere close to describing my work?
KKKKkkkk1··on How concerned should we be about Astra's recurrent architecture?
I don't understand why he's citing a NeurIPS 2025 paper when cross-layer parameter sharing was introduced in ALBERT already in 2019.
KKKKkkkk1··on Why I'm Forced to Say Farewell: Google Management Has Lost Its Moral Compass
The actual reason is right at the top: he's a director who was "promoted" to IC.

KKKKkkkk1··on OpenAI asks White House for relief from state AI rules
So I asked ChatGPT what is a rent seeker and it said it's someone who seeks to make money without contributing anything. I don't think that fits OpenAI. I think you're overlooking ChatGPT, for example, which was developed by OpenAI.
KKKKkkkk1··on Grok3 Launch [video]
HN has turned into the Slashdot of the 2000s. No wireless? Less space than a Nomad? Lame.
KKKKkkkk1··on Ingrid Daubechies awarded National Medal of Science
Is it accurate to say that wavelets were a promising avenue of research in the 1990s but interest in them has kind of died because they were obsoleted by CNNs?

KKKKkkkk1··on Meta is killing off its AI-powered Instagram and Facebook profiles

KKKKkkkk1··on ICC prosecutor seeks arrest warrants against Sinwar and Netanyahu for war crimes
That depends on who is in power. I don't think Jeremy Corbyn's Labour government would have apologized.
KKKKkkkk1··on ICC prosecutor seeks arrest warrants against Sinwar and Netanyahu for war crimes
What do you mean they wouldn't arrest? Israel's foreign minister Tsipy Livny had arrest warrants issued against her by courts in the UK and in Belgium.
KKKKkkkk1··on U.S. sues Apple, accusing it of maintaining an iPhone monopoly
Every employee that joins Apple goes through a course that teaches a few case studies about Apple's culture. One of those is how Steve Jobs made the decision to kill Flash. IMHO it was a no brainer and if this sort of thing needs to be litigated in court, it's a travesty.
KKKKkkkk1··on California suspends Cruise's autonomous vehicle deployment
By the time you're paged to handle the situation, the pedestrian is already trapped under the vehicle and you cannot see her because the car does not have an under-the-vehicle camera. So the only way you can handle this case is to rewind and review what happened before the collision and respond only then. Considering that the speed with which you react can be a matter of life and death, I don't see a satisfactory solution to this problem.
KKKKkkkk1··on California suspends Cruise's autonomous vehicle deployment
> But I will always pick a Waymo over an Uber if they are the same distance away. I love playing my own music and just being in my own world without another human to consider. It is truly a relaxing commute.

Not to ruin your commute, do you know if there are interior-facing cameras monitoring the passengers?

KKKKkkkk1··on YouTube blocks Russell Brand from making money through its platform
What kind of weird lawyerly nitpicking is this. YouTube does not want to be associated with an alleged rapist. Is that so hard to understand.
KKKKkkkk1··on Meduza co-founder's phone infected with Pegasus
That is absolutely not the implication. NSO is not the Israeli government and the identity of the attackers in this case is not known.
KKKKkkkk1··on The Fandomization of News
Technology has brought increasing competition to the news business, starting with AM radio, then cable news, then the likes of Drudge Report on the internet, and finally social media. As a result, the media are pursuing consumers much more aggressively, and in particular they are targeting specific demographics. Hence polarization, "juicy collection of great narratives," [0] and the death of objectivity [1]. The age of Walter Cronkite and Edward Murrow is not coming back.

KKKKkkkk1··on Google uses in-person office attendance as part of employee performance reviews
Sounds like Google is eliminating remote work. Has VP Urs Holzle returned from New Zealand? https://www.inc.com/minda-zetlin/google-exec-remote-work-wfh...
KKKKkkkk1··on Don Knuth plays with ChatGPT
There is this idea that the goal of RLHF is to make ChatGPT woke or as you put it to lobotomize it. I suspect that this is a conspiracy theory. There's a very good talk by John Schulman, chief architect of ChatGPT [0], where he explains that if you don't include a RL component in your training, you're essentially doing imitation learning. It's well known that imitation learning fails miserably when presented with conditions that are not in your training set, i.e., answering questions that don't exist on the Internet already. So the goal of RLHF is actually to reduce hallucination.

KKKKkkkk1··on Geoffrey Hinton leaves Google and warns of danger ahead
Not knowing anything about Hinton's work, I am guessing there is no mystery to why he left. Many people leave after a couple of years. His initial grant of RSUs has vested and he wasn't able to make a sufficiently large impact within the company to justify him staying.
KKKKkkkk1··on Tech jobs remain a good bet despite mass layoffs in Silicon Valley
Tech is a rare industry where you can easily pivot into it later in your career, start at an entry level position, work your way very high up the ladder and get paid very well along the way.

That's not likely to be possible anymore. Microsoft's net income went 9x in the last two decades. Apple's 475x. I don't think this kind of growth is going to continue.

KKKKkkkk1··on GPT-4 and professional benchmarks: the wrong answer to the wrong question
> We already know this is about self-driving cars. Passing a driver's test was already possible in 2015 or so, but SDCs clearly aren't ready for L5 deployment even today.

Who told you that? Passing a driver's test was not possible in 2015 and it's not possible today. You might pass, but only if there are no awkward interactions with other drivers or bicyclists or pedestrians, no construction zones, and you don't enter areas where your map is out of date. The guy testing you would have to go out of his way to help you pass.

KKKKkkkk1··on Meta is building a decentralized, text-based social network
> What if, and hear me out: we ditch the idea of a better replacement social network and just ditch the concept in general?

Good luck with that. Social networks is an idea that is as old as the Internet. MySpace and Facebook were merely a step in a progression that included IRC, Usenet, email. Arguably hypertext itself. If you're not connecting people, what is the point of the Internet?

KKKKkkkk1··on On Chomsky and the Two Cultures of Statistical Learning
I'm sorry, but what Chomsky wrote is pseudo-scientific mumbo jumbo, and Norvig went to the trouble of wading through that mumbo jumbo and refuting it. Thank you, Peter Norvig.

> Apple came after Blackberry.

Apple and specifically Jony Ive started the development of a handheld computer in the early 90s. Apple was definitely not a second comer to that market.
