A deterministic program given the same inputs will always give the same outputs.
We can debate about what is cool, cold or freezing but a thermometer will present the same numeric value to everyone.
The trick is getting the content creators there, but most of them are ultimately and fairly interested in making money, and your new platform wont have that for them.
Bluesky has done alright, but that was a black swan event Elon Musk inspired.
And also in the way that it's hard to tell what we as the average people should do to prepare and about it.
Good even, in comparison to a lot of people.
Either way you can weigh both factors and 90% of diets can be easily and cheaply improved by just adding a hefty dose of frozen veggies to every meal.
Plenty of variety these days too, lots of premixed medleys.
But I'm let down because my chess partner is a 9 year old who is still learning basic strategies.
Keep what works for you, leave what doesn't.
It's like debating your political other. You can often predict what they will say not because you understand their reasoning, but simply because you've seen multiple times how they react to a given argument in the past.
I'd love to see these in a museum with background information about the subjects and stories like the raspberry fungus.
In another thread I saw a recommendation for dual 3090s if you're not doing anything gaming related, good to have some confirmation there.
There's also quite a difference between the ethics of healthcare and legal services.
Most of the time if you need a legal answer from a lawyer who charges like that, it's because you know you'll net more money from having the answer than it will cost to get a reply.
With healthcare, you're not trying to make money you're just trying to live.
"All I have to do is modify my virus until the anti-virus doesn't detect it."
Mostly due to the generous use of rubber gloves in their internment camps.
Kind of like how an educated guess by a professional is often more accurate than a well reasoned opinion of a layman.
The professional may not have reasoned it so much as intuited, but within that intuition is a lot of wisdom.
I suppose "predicting" is a more precise word than guessing or reasoning.
Guessing implies an arbitrary nature, reasoning implies understanding the concepts at some level.
For example if you tell it "Do <thing>" and then open a new context and say "Do <thing>, explain your reasoning beforehand." you will often get a more accurate response.
Granted, it's not that any "Hmm, let me think about that." Deep Thought reasoning occurs, but simply that predicting what the reasoning would look like and then predicting what comes after that reasoning results in a more accurate - and ironically, reasoned - response.
Kinda funny actually, it's a bit like how in Hitchiker's Guide they just had to tell the probability machine to calculate the odds of an improbability drive in order to create it.
It seems inevitable that some sort of signature or identity proof will be necessary soon to participate in most online forums.
Either esoteric networking between people or straight up government/private entity issued multi factor authentication.
It's always painfully obvious when someone has never had to run even the microist of businesses.
They literally can't perceive the idea that most business owners are taking a huge risk and putting in far more hours and effort than their employees who are free to just walk away any time a better offer comes along.
At which point you are STILL not responsible for any liability. For example if the bar gets sued, you don't lose your home, car, etc...
And in most countries, would receive unemployment that was at least partially paid for by the business in advance.
Notice again though - just like the gold mine - without the infrastructure you can't extract any value at all from your ability to pour drinks.
Wolff is about as bad faith as actors get.
The standard "how come patrons at a bar pay $10 for a drink but I only make $15 / hour when I serve twenty drinks an hour" argument.
The answer of course is because you didn't create the bar, you didn't secure all the necessary supplies and amenities to run it and ultimately you're not liable for what happens to it. In essence if the bar loses money each month you're still owed a paycheck.
And ultimately that's why raw materials and content DON'T have inherent value (e.g. dug up gold sitting in a mine shaft, the best song ever buried in your notebook).
What they have is POTENTIAL value if the infrastructure exists to get them processed and to the locations where people want them and if people are willing to put skin in the game to bet it will pay off.
And that need for infrastructure is the reason that argument always falls apart.
Co-opts are about the best feasible answer we have now, but it always seems to be the case that suddenly people have far more capitalistic notions about running a business when THEY become the majority risk holder for a new venture.
