In the interview, it's mentioned that tuition was $900 in 1940 at Yale. That works out to $16,493.85 in "2019 Dollars". Yale costs $49,480 today. I apologize for being off topic but I wonder if John was college age today, what college would he have attended with very limited parental support, $35 specifically.
" Lyme disease would mean a lifetime of medication and discomfort". Although long term problems are possible from Lyme disease, it is very unusual. 20 years ago I contracted Lyme disease. After a 4 week antibiotic treatment, I have had no other effects and I believe this to be typical.
In Massachusetts You can get as long as a 2 1/2 year sentence in county jail. You also can't get a state prison sentence from a district court. You have to be indicted and sentenced in Superior Court to do state prison time. In theory You could be sentenced to 3 consecutive 2 1/2 year county jail sentences in a District Court, that is rare, I believe. Contempt of Court is an outlier that is served in a county jail, but with a possible life sentence.
I know the basis for Mr Assange's support is 1st Amendment protections of a journalist. Does someone engaged in subtrafuge such as this pervert journalism?
As someone that spent a couple years incarcerated, I tried to look at people using excrement as a weapon as a consequence of asymmetrical warfare. You have to learn to relate to people like that, so contempt isn't a good option.
I wonder if the applicants bumped by the bribed admissions would be able to bring legal action against all parties in this case? The amount of income lost by rejection to a prestigious school would seem to be a large number.
As a white American that has been fired upon by the police, I find to make these things racial, glosses over the other problems causing so many citizens being killed. From my anecdotal experiance American police are quite racist, especially in a smaller city or town. I was shot at around 10 years ago and the shooting I can reconcile as the "heat of the moment". Five police officer's telling the same lies with the intention of incarcerating me for a long time is much more difficult to process.
The article focuses on which substance killed the drug addict. It would be more honest if it identified the opiate that led to addiction in the first place.
Also how is a smaller competitor going to be on a level playing field. For example existing NY companies paying full taxes are partially paying Amazon's subsidy.
Would anyone care to comment on the technology that makes the recognition and surveillance possible? If we supply "back doors" to the ChiCom so that they allow our tech to be distributed in China, are we less complicit than the guards?
