Joona··on AMD GPU Debugger
I tested some image and text generation models, and generally things just worked after replacing the default torch libraries with AMD's rocm variants.
Joona··on iPhone 16 Pro Storage Expansion 128GB to 1TB [video]
It's more so the 128GB package is not worth that much, so it's easier to just delete it.
Joona··on Ask HN: Coding music playlist to increase code throughput
Breakcore has been my go-to for background noise, and I found the "This will break you" mixes to be good when not listening to albums from my collection.

Joona··on Ask HN: Dealing with website distributing malware disguised as open source?
We've done that with all the reports so far. Most of us aren't in the US, but hopefully the ones that are can reach out.
Joona··on Ask HN: Dealing with website distributing malware disguised as open source?
Thanks for the US-CERT/FBI links, we'll report to them. We've reported the site through Google's safe browsing form and the registrar and host abuse addresses. Both registrar and host replied saying they found no malware on the site, despite us submitting analysis on it.

I don't think ICANN deals with malware, but we'll contact the registry. We've also considered DMCA, but we think it would be a very temporary solution.

Joona··on A Python Interpreter Written in Python (2016)
There are some changes to ceval in 3.8 that should make it a bit simpler:

The interpreter loop has been simplified by moving the logic of unrolling the stack of blocks into the compiler. The compiler emits now explicit instructions for adjusting the stack of values and calling the cleaning up code for break, continue and return.
  Removed opcodes BREAK_LOOP, CONTINUE_LOOP, SETUP_LOOP and SETUP_EXCEPT. Added new opcodes ROT_FOUR, BEGIN_FINALLY, CALL_FINALLY and POP_FINALLY. Changed the behavior of END_FINALLY and WITH_CLEANUP_START.

Joona··on Ask HN: What is your 'end game'? What kind of life are you striving to live?
Sounds great! I'm looking to race a little closer to where I live, maybe karts or something like Legends Cars.
Joona··on Ask HN: What is your 'end game'? What kind of life are you striving to live?
I haven't really come up with the perfect endgame yet, but some ideas I've had:

Teaching in an university or such (I love teaching)
Traveling the world to meet my friends
Financial freedom to do things I'm interested in (racing, VR)
Joona··on Ask HN: My strange pain point – is it a startup idea?
For tagging apartments as "I don't like it", you could create a browser extension that automatically hides them. That aside, I think dirktheman's comment is relevant; I don't think the data you want is useful for most other users.
Joona··on The science of Destiny 2's 'uniquely complicated' netcode
I don't think that's right. PlayerUnknown created the Battle Royale mod for Arma 2, and it took off. I'm sure it was helped by DayZ's popularity, but the games are not really comparable.

Joona··on FLAC Support in Firefox 51
> I see no point in streaming anything if you can just put files on your player and not depend on any connection.

Sure, if that works for you, but my collection is too big to fit on my mobile device (even after encoding it in Opus instead of FLAC).

I suppose my use case is rather rare, but even then, why not give the ability?

Joona··on FLAC Support in Firefox 51
My music collection is all in FLAC, and encoding it again would be a waste of space and/or resources. Streaming FLAC is completely fine for me, as I don't have bandwidth caps or such.

I can see myself building a streaming service for myself to listen to my collection while I'm on the move.

Joona··on Ask HN: How do you read the news?
No, but I come across some on IRC, hear from friends and such.
Joona··on We ditched Google Analytics
Definitely looks like it to me. Took me a good month to back up my (video) files with CrashPlan, as it was using some 10% of my upload.

I think it would be a good selling point for a service like this to allow higher upload speeds.

Joona··on SoundCloud Spammers on Twitter
I've noticed Twitch has a similar problem. If you enable Twitch to tweet for you when you go live, you often get favorited by bots that advertise selling followers/viewers.
Joona··on Is it just a game mod, or is it “facilitating piracy”?
I think that's why they got on Steam.
Joona··on Opera silently puts advertising in SpeedDial
I definitely got bookmarks at the very least. Not sure about speed dial, that may have been only on fresh installs or on chromium. It's been quite a while since Presto last updated. :)
Joona··on Opera silently puts advertising in SpeedDial
I think they've done it in Presto too, when updating to a new version.
Joona··on Is it just a game mod, or is it “facilitating piracy”?
Or compare it with the Just Cause 2 multiplayer mod, which requires you to own the game on Steam, and acts like a DLC.

http://store.steampowered.com/app/259080/

Edit: Before they got on Steam, they required you to log in on their site and the mod with Steam's OpenID system, which they could use to check if you owned the game or not.
