You're not thinking long-term. What happens when AI is put in charge of systems that interact with the physical world?

Chromebooks are much cheaper than Windows laptops.
Similarly priced chromebooks are also much more responsive than their Windows counterparts (mainly due to the OS being so optimized to run on crappy hardware). And you're right -- Linux might be a viable alternative here. But it's not like the corporate world runs on Linux.

But in my opinion, having an ad-supported tier is actually a good thing. It makes gaming more accessible to people who can't afford/don't want to purchase expensive gaming PCs.
Plus, it adds competition with nvidia's geforce streaming service (which is already ad-supported).
