JasonHarrison··on Google has stopped pushing Git tags for some Android source code
What will you purchase instead? It sucks that the modern smartphone OS market is a duopoly.
JasonHarrison··on You deleted everything and AWS is still charging you?
Me too! AWS actually charges my credit card $0.01 every month.

I'm surprised they don’t just waive low balances, like many banks do [0]

How is it economical for AWS to charge a credit card for a penny? I wonder what Amazon’s agreements with interchange networks must be like...

JasonHarrison··on Acme Weather
I am on the free trial and it did not extend to my family. Unsure whether this will change when the trial converts to a paid subscription.
JasonHarrison··on Spain will introduce free train travel
My guess would be the Chicago Transit Authority.
JasonHarrison··on Freenode ops take control of 700 channels
Wow. I chat on Freenode daily during my teen years (~2007) and I used to be friendly with many of the Freenode opers, including Christel.

I mostly stopped using IRC in 2017. Reading about Freenode's "acquisition" (takeover) spurs lots of nostalgia and makes me sad.

JasonHarrison··on Oregon becomes first U.S. state to decriminalize possession of all drugs
Good. Putting people with addiction issues in jail was the wrong approach.

Perhaps the addicted can seek help in other ways without the fear or risk of being incarcerated.

JasonHarrison··on Ask HN: What are you building tonight?
Some friends and I built a free and open-source website for playing board games. The site is built with React, NextJS, and TypeScript.

Tonight I'm working on adding matchmaking / lobby features :)

JasonHarrison··on CamScanner, a malicious Android app with more than 100M downloads in Google Play
Apparently calendar invite spam is on the rise, and CamScanner might not be related. See https://www.theverge.com/2019/8/23/20829615/google-calendar-...
