My problem is that I am the exact opposite of someone who "sifts through a lot of stuff".

There is little that I have read on the internet that I have found to be worth reading... and what is worth reading is not worth sharing.

My only other post on HN was 11 months ago (that was one of the aforementioned Microcorruption writeups). Since then, I count only one article that I read and thought "this should go on HN". I did not post it, but I distinctly recall thinking that I should.

That one instance aside, I have nothing to share that does not originate in my own head.

I think I put a lot more effort into my self promotion than most people, but that does not change the fact that it is self promotion.

Hence, the question.

I am not sure HN is the right platform to do what I want to do; I just don't see any better options that I can even post on.

JamesEvery··on Ask HN: Can't follow "don't use HN for promotion" due to my lifestyle: OK or no?
See the "about" section in my HN profile.
JamesEvery··on I'll see your 372 lines of Verilog and raise you five lines of math.
Context: over the last decade, about 500 people solved the final level from the original version of Microcorruption (Hollywood).

The final step involves a preimage attack on a homebrew hashing algorithm. Most people bruteforce it or use Z3, but one person, "[ashamed] at not being able to simply solve for the password with math", wrote several hundred lines of SystemVerilog to crack it on an FPGA.

This is how to break it purely with math.
