JSadowski··on BufferBox (YC S12) Solves The Problem Of Missing Packages
This may take off, but they need some sort of unlimited plan as well. The reason Amazon Prime does so well is because some people can't get over the mental hurdle of paying for shipping. At $3 per package, on top of whatever existing shipping rate there is, BufferBox could be seen as cost-prohibitive to many frequent online shoppers.

On the very form where they collect your email:

"Receive your online orders at our new parcel kiosks in the Toronto area"

JSadowski··on Amazon S3′s PermanentRedirect and cURL error code 51 Problems
It's my experience that wildcard security certificates (like the one amazon has for .s3.amazonaws.com) do not work past one level of subdomain. That is to say a certificate issued to .example.com will work on www.example.com and sales.example.com, but not www.sales.example.com or shipping.us.example.com.
JSadowski··on Payment iframe - the easiest way to insert Stripe into your website
Just because it isn't most-sensitive doesn't mean that breaching the data isn't a problem.
JSadowski··on 1and1 ask for passwords over the phone
1and1 is horrible anyhow, leave, fast!
JSadowski··on Settle is now Droplet
Droplet in itself isn't a horrible name... but for your product it is. One of these days I'd love to see somebody stand up to a baseless claim like this, despite the costs that might be involved.

No, just potentially their credit card information.

And you can accomplish the same thing by using an iframe that you have full control over.

Instead, if you use this service, you're trusting another 3rd party site to be available and to not be compromised.

JSadowski··on With Credit Card Settlement, Will Ecommerce Software Need an Update?
Also, it should be noted that PayPal's terms for merchants also state that surcharges are not allowed.

While it may no longer be a requirement of Visa or Mastercard that merchants not pass on fees on to consumers, I believe that there are laws on the books in several states (California included) that would still preclude this.

JSadowski··on Plivo (YC S12) launches scalable API platform for Voice & SMS Apps
One of the features that I feel sets it apart from Twilio (but that admittedly isn't very well documented) is that you can configure an application to be direct-dial. In layman's terms, you can use Plivo via SIP for an internal phone system and configure how different numbers/extensions are handled when dialed from the SIP phone.
JSadowski··on Facebook forces all users over to Facebook.com e-mail addresses
As it is right now, I have a unique email address setup for Facebook on one of my domains. If anyone sends email to it other than Facebook, it gets instantly marked as spam.... I only wonder why I'm giving Facebook a pass and not marking their emails as spam too.
JSadowski··on Facebook forces all users over to Facebook.com e-mail addresses
I only wish that when Facebook gave away my email when I connected with other sites that they gave away the Facebook email address. As it is, I almost never give permission to sites because most require an email address. I do not wish to share my real email address just to read an article that has shown up on my newsfeed, but would gladly share my @facebook.com email address
