JAFTEM··on Steven Colbert On Vessyl Digital Cup [video]
The only reason I can think of is the listed nutritional value isn't always accurate. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't understand how this cup can be any more accurate than the label.

Honestly if I wanted to count calories and monitor my nutrition, I would rather speak to my phone what I'm currently eating and have it tally everything up. And I would gladly pay $10 for an app like that over $200 for a cup, so until someone can bring this technology down to $20-$30, I don't care.

JAFTEM··on Massive 'ocean' discovered towards Earth's core
We're fracking at a couple thousand meters right now, I'd say 700km is a decently-sized buffer.
JAFTEM··on Fitness Crazed
I have many friends that in the past wanted to get more fit and healthy and they've always felt the need to do a lot of research or look for some sort of crazy program that they think is necessary to shed off the weight or gain muscle. I always try to just push them in the direction of starting out with the "big four" that this article mentioned: the bench press, the squat, the dead lift, and the clean and press. All you need to do is look for videos online that demonstrate the motion and proper form and try to mimic this with a light weight [1]. As your form gets better, you can naturally add more weight. From there as you gain more experience, you can start working on exercises that isolate different body parts and of course incorporating cardio.

In my humble opinion, it's best to just jump right in, create a routine, and start learning from experience. Refer back to videos online for proper form in trying new exercises, and from first-hand experience you will see what works and what doesn't.

JAFTEM··on "Free-to-play" misleading advertising in Europe
I don't see how unless you have some third party reviewing each game.
JAFTEM··on Cable lobby rebuffed in attempt to ban public broadband networks
The title forgot the part where they flushed it down the toilet.
JAFTEM··on Incoming ‘Moby Dick' asteroid goes missing near Earth
Article says it was last seen 14 years ago, so it's obviously not some asteroid we've been monitoring too recently that just inexplicably disappeared like I, someone who doesn't know much about astronomy, assumed from the title. We apparently were just wrong in calculating its trajectory..
JAFTEM··on Losing graciously
XFCE is great and all, but isn't MATE an actual fork of GNOME 2?
JAFTEM··on Things I learned by pretending to be blind for a week (2013)
There is enough driver support for rMBP? What's your battery like?
JAFTEM··on Facebook Paper's gesture problems
> "It's certainly pretty and with some content other than my Facebook feed, it might be a good interface. It would be perfect if I wanted to read 90 percent of this stuff."

Isn't this what Flipboard does?

JAFTEM··on Philip Seymour Hoffman Dead at 46
Anyone know if his parts in Mockingjay finished filming?

This is really terrible news, anyway. He was a great actor.

JAFTEM··on How Music Hijacks Our Perception of Time
Nothing scares me more than someone speeding past me on the highway blaring dubstep or some other genre with that much bass.
JAFTEM··on Average water use per person*day by country
Does 'at home' include watering the lawn or garden? If the drought in California is a 'mega drought' like some news outlets are saying, I hear that cities could pass laws restricting residents from watering their lawns as it accounts for up to 50% of a household's water usage [0].

JAFTEM··on Breaking Madden: The Super Bowl, in which the machine bleeds to death
That's true. In fact I remember a semi-pro brought a modded controller to an MLG event but was kicked out/banned.

But if people really wanted to cheat, they would standby or mod anyway.

JAFTEM··on GoDaddy Updates Its User Protection Policies
He hasn't gotten it back, but the attacker is no longer in possession of that handle having deleted the account. The handle was then apparently unavailable to take [0], but some time later Twitter allowed some random user to pick up the handle as you can see by visiting @N now.

JAFTEM··on Breaking Madden: The Super Bowl, in which the machine bleeds to death
And the competitive community took full advantage of this, because knowing how to "double shot" and BxR made having a battle rifle the only weapon you really needed to beat really anything but a snipe.
JAFTEM··on Why I’ll be Pirating Adobe’s Products From Now On
I don't think Adobe has actually cared too much whether or not individual customers pirate their software. From what I've heard, piracy has actually helped the popularity of their products so that more companies and schools, who account for the bulk of their revenue, will buy their products en masse.
JAFTEM··on Google to Buy Artificial Intelligence Startup DeepMind for $400M
Does that mean that having "our way" overrides what AI knows is in the best interest of the planet and humanity? Will this AI just lend itself to be used in harmful ways by dubious and invariably less intelligent people?
JAFTEM··on Warren Buffett offers $1 billion for perfect March Madness bracket
My brain had a hard time processing "billion" with a "B" in the title.

Anyway, it says your odds are a 1 in 4.2 billion for correctly picking the winning 63 games. What that basically means is that we're going to find out if time traveling exists sometime in March.

JAFTEM··on San Jose Is Hell On Earth (1996)
I would be surprised that people here wouldn't be able to tell by the HTML.
JAFTEM··on Wozniak: “Actually, the movie was largely a lie about me”
Which is what I said and my point stands: how many people can actually give the correct answer to who created the first light bulb? Edison was attributed all of the credit when he built off the work of others, which isn't to say that's a bad thing but that this is usually how breakthroughs usually come about.
JAFTEM··on San Jose Is Hell On Earth (1996)
I encourage people to watch Fresh Off The Boat with Eddie Huang: Bay Area. In his short documentary series he tries different foods from different areas to get a feel of the culture. I really think his opinion about the food here resonates with the South Bay especially [0]. You wouldn't think that restaurants in strip malls would have good food or a lot of culture, but somehow we manage that here and I personally think the author is being too black and white in his analysis of San Francisco and San Jose.

JAFTEM··on Wozniak: “Actually, the movie was largely a lie about me”
Many people usually go under-appreciated for their work that leads to major engineering feats. It seems to me that society likes to look at the past and attribute one thing or one person to what changed everything, when in reality it is the accumulation of several events that lead to major breakthroughs. Thomas Edison never invented the light bulb, but he did find a filament for the incandescent lamp so that it could be mass produced.
JAFTEM··on Quick tip for developers who use OS X
I just realized you can use some of these Emacs commands in the Chrome browser address bar (not sure about others).
JAFTEM··on The Curious Case Of The Chromebook: Is It Really A Hit?
That's great and all, but I'm still confused why I would want one over a traditional laptop (or ultrabook) with OS X, Windows, or Linux unless it's purely to save money on a less expensive Chromebook model.
JAFTEM··on Silicon Valley Hustle: Former Motionloft CEO Accused Of Defrauding Investors
Looks like Mills himself and investors involved are in the comments section via FB (so they're using their real identities). One of the investors even still believes in Mills and states he invested 48k.
