IzzyMurad··on Porting dl.google.com from C++ to Go
Too many Google employees in Hacker News trying to advocate Go...
IzzyMurad··on An open letter to Jeff Bezos: A contract worker’s take on Amazon.com

IzzyMurad··on Stay-at-home dad
> being constantly alert

A good or a retarded dad? I am not sure. What trouble a 0-4 month old baby could get into if you put him in a place where he could not fall?

IzzyMurad··on CppCMS – High Performance C++ Web Framework
"CppCMS is a Free High Performance Web Development Framework (not a CMS)"

This is so dumb. Why it is called CppCMS then?

IzzyMurad··on Internet Explorer 11: “Don’t call me IE”
It's not a matter of the browser features anymore, but rather the company behind it. Say we all switch back to IE11 tomorrow... I am pretty sure Microsoft will abuse its power just like they did during IE6 era.
IzzyMurad··on Introducing Cloud Typography Webfonts by H&FJ
There are just too many excellent free alternatives to justify such subscription.

Most of these widgets already come bundled with Bootstrap (http://twitter.github.io/bootstrap/javascript.html) and it's done better; see http://alloyui.com/examples/button/, for example, you get a checkbox then it's converted to a button after being displayed for a brief period.

Django 1.5 (latest stable version) requires Python 2.6.5 or above, so it doesn't matter.
IzzyMurad··on Ruby 1.8.7 retired
That's exactly why I went with Django/Python instead of RoR/Ruby.

I have no problem with keeping software up-to-date but I don't want to make that a main task because some "cool" kids easily get bored and keep phasing out stuff which break production apps and/or causes security issues.

IzzyMurad··on My Song Got Played On Pandora 1 Million Times and All I Got Was $16.89
I see. So both are paying next to nothing in comparison to the number of plays.
IzzyMurad··on My Song Got Played On Pandora 1 Million Times and All I Got Was $16.89
I don't get it. Many of you are saying "Pandora pays a ton more than a radio station".

The song was played 1 millon times and he got $16.89.

How many times the song should be played to make a significant amount then? A billion times?

IzzyMurad··on Ask HN: Advice on how to best spend $3,000
From my +10 years experience in the hosting industry, I'd say in this case the best way to spend the $3,000 is to buy Xbox One and some other cool gadgets.
IzzyMurad··on One Year Later: Review of PyCharm 2.7 from a Vim User’s Perspective
The only major downside I found is its nonnative feel since it's written in Java. Otherwise, it's the best.
IzzyMurad··on In 8 months at Microsoft, I learned these things
If I were Bill Gates, I'd fire you without blinking an eye.
