InfiniteTitan··on The Decline of the U.S. Machine-Tool Industry and Prospects for Recovery (1994)
This whole line of reasoning is so similar to consumers picking up chicken breast in a grocery store and not realizing that it comes from chickens somehow.

The US manufacturing base is extremely broad, deep, and strong. The onus is on you to try to prove otherwise.

InfiniteTitan··on Bluesky quickly sold out of the T-shirt its CEO wore to troll Mark Zuckerberg
HN never disappoints.
InfiniteTitan··on The “strategic reserve” exposes crypto as the scam it always was
Simply incredible. Used for millennia as currency but not a solved problem to determine what is gold…
InfiniteTitan··on A bear case: My predictions regarding AI progress
Is it revolutionary to order from a screen rather than calling a restaurant for delivery? I don’t think so.
InfiniteTitan··on The “strategic reserve” exposes crypto as the scam it always was
> And how will the store owner authenticate that it's actually gold?

Umm this is a solved problem. Believe it or not gold has been used as currency for thousands of years.

This only applies to very large amounts of monetary value. $1m USD is currently under 24lb/10.7kg.

InfiniteTitan··on DOGE's only public ledger is riddled with mistakes
> As long as it's all legal

It’s quite clear by the preponderance of the evidence piling up that these actions are not legal.

The cost of defending all of the employment actions that result from this will easily eclipse the “savings” presented.

> over time we will eventually just become a debt slave society paying to other economies.

This is categorically false. 70% of our debt is held by US entities.

InfiniteTitan··on Fair Pricing
Netflix cancels after billing you for two years. Kagi doesn’t bill you if you don’t use the product that month. Do you understand those are not the same?
InfiniteTitan··on Garmin's –$40B Pivot
I bought a smartphone. I was shocked at the poor value proposition. Very expensive and the charge wouldn’t even last a day!!!
InfiniteTitan··on You Probably Don't Need That Green AG1 Smoothie
Curious about your level of expertise to render the option that this product you’ve never heard of is “probably good for you” ?
InfiniteTitan··on Metal thieves in America's cities
I’ll never understand promoting the hysterical media driven vilification of crimes of poverty.
InfiniteTitan··on Toyota showcases compact engines adaptable to different fuels
Right, China did this two or three years ago but it’s such a different country now!!!

Try googling. It lead easily to a Bloomberg article. https://www.bloomberg.com/features/2023-china-ev-graveyards/
InfiniteTitan··on Vision Pro: What we got wrong at Oculus that Apple got right
> Given the high price of the Vision Pro and the resulting low sales, it would make little business sense for app developers to invest in creating apps for it instead of for the Quest 3.

For sure. That’s exactly how it’s played out in iOS vs Android. No developer makes anything for the higher priced, small market iOS, right?
