InGoodFaith··on TSMC “Apple-first” 3nm policy leads to AMD and Qualcomm mutiny
> VC's have a very strong preference for a large number of small customers over a small number of large customers, and why.

This is intriguing and I would appreciate if possible to get any sources to read up on this?

I understand your earlier point of military wars not exactly being rational - but:

Is it really moving the goalposts to say that comparing the economic impact spread over decades isn't the same as one experienced relatively instantaneously?

Or the risk of retaliation from a nuclear power isn't comparable to guerilla warfare?

Moving goalposts or not, it just doesn't seem to be an apt comparison to gauge military rationality.

> This is not a dead man, I am really alive

Hi there! Just a friendly note since it appears that there might be a slight misunderstanding (perhaps ESL?)

The "deadman's switch" [1] is not in reference to you (the creator) being a literal dead person, but rather to the definition of your service being built to operate in the event something (like being kidnapped/killed/incapacitated) happens to the user.

Hope that helps clear up the confusion.

InGoodFaith··on Apple Will Not Reinstate Epic’s Fortnite Developer Account
I appreciate this - I should have expanded on my original post with the appeals disclaimer to clarify.

edit: I am not the original GP who said it's plain wrong - perhaps I should lead with that

---

I really appreciate your analysis. Perhaps my comment was unclear, but it was in reference to the GP asking

> Why do you think this is plain wrong?

Since from my understanding the injunction should still be in effect (as mentioned by another commenter). Of course with the added disclaimer that I am not a corporate lawyer.

> I seriously recommend not relying on blog analysis of a court case and instead reading the court documents, and if you are unable to do so (understandable!) to avoid participating in the conversation in the manner of correcting someone.

I appreciate your candor - while I may exhibit elements of imposter syndrome, I believe I didn't add noise to the SNR of this post since it was my intention to expand on the aformentioned GP's question.

Isn't the "luck" in that case the spirit of having a competitive market?

In an effort to stifle off regulation, the self-interest of giant corporations are aligned with their otherwise powerless developers - even if coincidentally.

If the duopoly wasn't under scrutiny, this "luck" would have run out as there would be no real viable competition.

InGoodFaith··on Apple Will Not Reinstate Epic’s Fortnite Developer Account
As you might recall - Apple did retaliate previously by also banning an associated Epic Account (for Unreal Engine and such) but was later legally forced not to [1]

The multiplicative inverse of 0.7 is approximately 1.429.

You will need a 42.9% markup to counteract the 30% cut.

InGoodFaith··on Twitter to label 'good' bot accounts
Taking your comment in good faith, there are already a set of rules with regards to automation on twitter [0] which might help in understanding their usage of the word "bot" in that context.

InGoodFaith··on Twitter to label 'good' bot accounts
> Suppose there's a bot that responds to every comment with positive sentiment about ivermectin with "You are not a horse" with a link to WHO guidelines. Would Twitter call that a good bot or a bad bot?

It would not only be classified as a bad bot (if unsolicited), but it would violate Twitter's automation rules [0]

InGoodFaith··on FOSS app removed from the Play Store for linking to the project's website
This seems a bit disingenuous considering that progress and advancement in certain fields might not show a direct benefit until years down the line.

It's a building block that might pave the way for something else.

InGoodFaith··on Epic vs. Apple: Order Granting in Part and Denying in Part Motion for TRO [pdf]
It's already separately under Epic Games International, S.a.r.l (“Epic International”).

It was under a different agreement from the regular "Epic Games" that Apple decided to both terminate

InGoodFaith··on Reddit’s profane, greedy traders are shaking up the stock market
I wish you would take GP's comment in good faith.

NB: I have lived in these countries, and I am also part of what you may call a "protected group" in western areas. I have come to terms with it.

Counter examples:

1 - PRC's treatment of Uighar muslims, LGBTQ+, Tibetans

2 - Light-hearted potrayals of lolicon, sexual harassment in the entertainment (specifically anime) industry

3 - "No foreigners / (insert specific race group here)" signs in some Japanese establishment that normalize xenophobia.
