what "correct thing"? i can text people who use android phones just fine. TBH this all boils down to the ridiculous blue / green bubble thing. that's the ONLY difference in texting between devices. i honestly have no clue why apple would be regulated in any way over this!

i was in the same situation with the switch to silicon. I have some obscure industry software that i use on a rare basis that only runs on x86 - i just bought a cheap thinkpad (x220 i think) and have XP on there.

silicon (m2) is worth its weight in gold to me for the battery life and functionality.

that's what killed rss it wasn't google reader going away, it was the ad-weaponizing of the feeds themselves

i will never understand the absolute hatred people have toward imessage. it's an app that runs on apples platform, for apple users. people can still communicate or text between android and apple. if you want inter-OS encryption then use whatsapp or signal or whatever the hip new thing is today.

apple owes nothing to anyone. they have created an ecosystem for their walled / gated devices that works extremely well. they don't have to let anyone else play in their pool.

no. it's anti-openness. the true value in ai/agi is the ability to control the output. the "safe" part of this is controlling the political slant that "open" ai models allow. the technology itself has much less value than the control that is possible to those who decide what is "safe" and what isn't. it's akin to raiding the libraries and removing any book or idea or reference to historical event that isn't culturally popular.

Not if the tool is so neutered and politicized that it can ONLY be used one certain way, which is how things are pointing. Call me a Luddite if you will, but unless AI / AGI is uncensored and uninhibited in its use and function, it’s just the quickest path to an Orwellian future.

There has been an influx of social media “ads” for these CT scanners - probably the worst (and obviously paid) example is Adam Savage’s YouTube channel where they just throw random things into a CT scanner under the guise of “how does this thing we’re scanning function from the inside out” - but it just ends up being an advertisement for “check out the features of the scanner and the settings you can change” with literally no investigation into the object being scanned
