ILMostro7··on NSO Group CEO says law-abiding citizens have 'nothing to be afraid of'
>It's going to be hard to keep software out of the wrong hands.

If your entire business model is to sell covert intrusive software to powerful entities, then the argument is irrelevant.

ILMostro7··on Assange case: Key witness admits he lied
Again, that speech was made early in the campaign. Obviously not talking about 60mil people. But, definitely didn't help, especially once pundits pounced on it.
ILMostro7··on Assange case: Key witness admits he lied
Lol not "traditional democratic voters"; the die-hards who saw, and continue to see, Trump as a messiah as he insults anyone from Gold Star parents, to disabled journalists, to Mexican immigrants... Anyway, off topic and deplorably exhausting.

In the end, Assange is just a scapegoat. Although, he wouldn't be the first or the last. When WikiLeaks was being used to disclose information about other countries, US citizens and even the Government saw them as a positive force in the world. But, once the info focused on US affairs, especially around a Presidential election, Assange was public enemy number one (tied with Snowden).

ILMostro7··on HK media erase their archives amid rising arrests
Lol How do you go from a protest to a coup d'état?
ILMostro7··on HK media erase their archives amid rising arrests
How and why do authoritarian regimes get toppled? Ultimately, capturing hearts and minds of people throigh peaceful protests is beneficial. The question is not whether protests always work directly and timely even. Wheteher or not special interests play a role, the result is easier reached when there's at least a larger audience that may become allied or organized better. To me, it's a fallacy to say that on the one hand ideology or protesting even doesn't play a part in political change when they can be greatly exploited by special interests or governments to gain power or better control and order.
ILMostro7··on Against Meme Activism
Perhaps it was thought or believed that an increased availability of education, in general, had curbed the effectiveness of these types of persuasive methods. Although, it's probable that you are right and they never subsided; only adapting to a new environment and mostly dismissed as outdated in hindsight.
ILMostro7··on Against Meme Activism
Not entirely sure that's how Gravity works, btw, as it's relative to this planet rather than the universe.
ILMostro7··on Against Meme Activism
yes. Larger scale; faster speed; larger populations
ILMostro7··on PHP has been removed in macOS Monterey
Companies see Mac products as more attractive for their workforce than Linux-based workstations. Having printers, wifi, other products seemlessly work, since Apple devotes time and money ensuring that, improves productivity, generally, and lowers costs in (in terms of Helpdesk staff and time spent diagnosing and fixing systems integration). So, developers and admins make use of what's offered, as it is a middle-ground between stability and functionality.
ILMostro7··on Senate Unanimously Approves a Bill to Make Juneteenth a Public Holiday
I've always wondered why many other countries shut down for Christmas entirely yet have relatively low or no compulsory religious language in public institutions, or purity tests in politics and government. It might be too easy to blame capitalism for a moral decline in the general public, were it not unpatriotic and therefore not aligned with the political party that most religious people tend to associate with.
ILMostro7··on Senate Unanimously Approves a Bill to Make Juneteenth a Public Holiday
Maybe they couldn't get it ratified or just wanted to stay in politics for more than 20 years. All lame sarcasm aside, that's a great clarification. Thanks
ILMostro7··on Senate Unanimously Approves a Bill to Make Juneteenth a Public Holiday
Those other federal holidays are not in November?

ILMostro7··on USV Dumps 100% of Coinbase Stock
Lol the title IS the clickbait here, just as elsewhere. Interested parties react on emotion that's implied in the title. Oftentimes, as here, the title is exaggerated or alarmist or intended to invoke an emotional reaction that gets people to CLICK on it. Hence the term.
ILMostro7··on United Nations Expert Arrested in Tunisia for Using an RTL-SDR
If they're arresting people for even a $20 component/tool, then it stands to reason that they are more authoritarian and vigilant; not less of a threat or incompetent!
ILMostro7··on Tesla is raising up to $1.5B through convertible note and share sale
Electric Vehicles have been around for decades. Arguably, if it wasn't for the weed-smoking twitter troll, those established car companies would still not be investing in EVs. Notably, the Electric Vehicle that surpassed all measures of quality by Comsumer Reports; giving away patents to expedite the EV development, research, and related infrastructure; cutting out the middle man in the distribution channel...

A bit odd how quickly the cynics and Monday Morning Quarterbacks usurp the conversation.

ILMostro7··on RHEL is deprecating KDE
Same here. However, packaging awesome window manager for RHEL/CentOS is a PITA. I end up using older fedora packages for it hehe
ILMostro7··on RHEL is deprecating KDE
XFS is stable but incomplete. Hopefully there will come a time when fs shrinking is possible, for example.
ILMostro7··on RHEL is deprecating KDE
Indeed; probably will be. Recently, yum has also included the copr plugin for using thirdparty repos, albeit a much lesser option than EPEL.
ILMostro7··on RHEL is deprecating KDE
I thought Lennart created systemd before he joined RedHat ...

"It's a good thing" -Martha Stewart

KDE is a beautiful, bloated rootkit, IMHO. There are countless of issues still open from years ago that never get addressed by developers. LXQT has potential, but even that suffers from some of the same issues with respect to KDE. e.g https://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=67&t=120706

ILMostro7··on Problems in Mathematics
Ahh, "problems", not problems :)

I thought this was going to be about the abc conjecture.

ILMostro7··on Linux developers threaten to pull “kill switch”
In an effort to create a Utopian environment while pushing out all assholes they become assholes themselves.

I'm a die-hard liberal, but this is getting ridiculous now. Move on, do your work, learn to deal with difficult people in the world.

I think we're done here.

Although...lulz.com is the source for this? Interesting.

ILMostro7··on NASA advisers say SpaceX rocket technology could put lives at risk
NASA Challenger and others have proven record of putting lives at risk. It's a dangerous job. As for hypothetical danger, that's more of a clickbait "analysis", timely after recent lash-out by Musk on Tesla conference call, IMHO.
