HunterWare··on From Oscilloscope to Wireshark: A UDP Story (2022)
Actually I take it back: For the series 6B spec page... Real-time: 50 GS/s (2 channels), 25 GS/s (4 channels), 12.5 GS/s (> 4 channels) Interpolated: 2.5 TS/s
HunterWare··on From Oscilloscope to Wireshark: A UDP Story (2022)
Looks like max 50GS/s per their site. That also looks reasonable with the screenshot they have in the article showing 1ns / div horiz. But clarity on the data would be lovely. =)
HunterWare··on Rob Pike’s Rules of Programming (1989)
ROFL, I wish Pike had known what he was talking about. /s ;)
HunterWare··on Rob Pike's 5 Rules of Programming
Can't be but so obvious if the first comment I saw here was that the first two rules didn't seem so important. =)
HunterWare··on Framework Laptop 13 gets ARM processor with 12 cores via upgrade kit
Looking at the comparison btw M class machines and the Minisforum MS-R1 that is the same chip, I'm not sure Apple is being proved wrong here.
HunterWare··on The Death of the Minivan
Toyota Sienna == Toyota Highlander

It's all the exact same chassis, drive, suspension, pretty much you name it except the doors and body style. So that's not quite true...

HunterWare··on World of Goo 2: now available
I eagerly await being able to play it on Steam and iOS/Play. =)
HunterWare··on Ocean Gyre
Ok fair, but in that case isn't it missing the words "I think" prepended to the factual assertion.

As in: I think it's missing the words "I think" from that statement. (Which is educated speculation on the statement that has yet to be rigorously explored)

HunterWare··on Surprising supernova scars cover the Earth
40% is a rounding error? I hope not ;) (edit, fine 34%... but I'll say THAT might be a rounding error grin)
HunterWare··on Abusing url handling in iTerm2 and Hyper for code execution
Yeah, that would be convenient. It feels like users do get the power to choose utility (enable) vs skeeved out (disable), which is all you can ask for =)
HunterWare··on Abusing url handling in iTerm2 and Hyper for code execution
Huh, I just disabled it in Preferences and kept on rolling. This is the other viable option: Settings->Pointer->General and disable cmd-click opens filename/URL.
HunterWare··on Bento3D
Completely unrealistic… more constructive to recommend melting them down and re-casting/machining =)
HunterWare··on Klipper is a 3D-Printer firmware
No updated release or new news at all here.
HunterWare··on Amelia Didn't Know Radio (1993)
The Night Witches were fascinating to read about, thanks!

HunterWare··on Home Assistant blocked from integrating with Garage Door opener API
Genie is what I heard. I haven’t deep dived, as I’m going to get along with Ratgdo. But if I needed new ones that’s where I’d start. =)
HunterWare··on Home Assistant blocked from integrating with Garage Door opener API
I don’t, and would happily use that installer again. =) But unless you give feedback on how the choices are working out how can you expect them to know and have a better choice next time? (Genie, is what I heard for the future… I’ll have to check further when/if it becomes relevant)
HunterWare··on Home Assistant blocked from integrating with Garage Door opener API
You can buy little ESPHome devices that will speak it’s local serial protocol and control it. (And then link to them how you want)

It’s incredibly annoying and dumb and I now have to get some. grumble

HunterWare··on Home Assistant blocked from integrating with Garage Door opener API
And put it high and proud on the site!
HunterWare··on Home Assistant blocked from integrating with Garage Door opener API
I use Home Assistant and have this openner. My installer recommeneded it because he’s had happy customers like me who use home automation. I can tell you that I a) will never recommend or buy the brand again, and b) have already complained to my installer about his recommendation of this line (and he is moving to another brand).

I wish ratgdo a ton of success and have several on order.

HunterWare··on Hard-to-swallow truths they won't tell you about software engineer job
So much truth in such a dense format. =)
HunterWare··on Self-driving cars less likely to detect children and people of color
In other news, it turns out that detecting smaller and lower contrast objects is harding with optical sensors. Almost, you know, like how it is with real people.
HunterWare··on iPhone = Privacy?
Huh, I use Google Maps daily too and have never had a popup since the first time I used it and picked "While using". I could have picked "Always", which worked too, but choose not to for reasons outlined in other posts here.

You can also easily turn off "Maps" tracking or limit it the same way if you choose.

I got to admit that I don't see the meat in this burger, so to speak.

HunterWare··on Re-Entering the Vampire Castle
Ah! thanks, and tough to disagree.
HunterWare··on Re-Entering the Vampire Castle
I have to ask: w-word? I even searched the article and couldn't figure out what you are referring to.
HunterWare··on Booting Linux in five seconds (2008)
A common use case for this is things like car/plane instruments/nav/etc. You don't want that sucking power all the time when your vehicle is parked for 1 week or two, but you do want a quick transition from POR to usable UI up and running.
HunterWare··on Arm Introduces the Cortex-A715
And memory is also a large user of power budget. This is exactly right… larger and brighter screens, better wifi, BT, and cellular systems, more memory, and higher system speeds (because you know that 20% more efficient processor is X% faster offsetting that efficiency) all eat up that power budget.
HunterWare··on Ask HN: What has melted your brain recently?
While funny, California as a whole has (according to Wiki) 8.5% of million dollar net worth families. There are almost 10million of them in the US. That's on the order 1 in 10 people belonging to a family in that bracket in the US and thus a whole bunch of people. So that's not really just some tech bro's in the valley...
HunterWare··on How Secure Boot Works on M1 Series Macs
That has full access to, and modification/control ability over, the main CPU.
HunterWare··on How Secure Boot Works on M1 Series Macs
Yep. The signing is done with public/private (aka asymmetric) keys and some kind of hashing mechanism.
HunterWare··on How Secure Boot Works on M1 Series Macs
How do you secure something when other's know the secret? There has to be some "secret" (aka key) that some definition of "you" only knows, that the system then tests against (hopefully via some kind of asymmetric system or hash).
