HorkHunter··on Don't guess my language
Yes 100% this, Geo-location != language. I wonder why this isn't common sense to be honest
HorkHunter··on Alaska Airlines grounds Boeing 737 Max 9 planes after mid-air window blowout
I would understand budget increases or timeline delays rather than fear for my safety.
HorkHunter··on Why would prisons ban my book? Absurdities rule the system (2022)
always have been, down with type tyranny
HorkHunter··on Coal Prices Rising Exponentially
Right? strange to assume nuclear power plants could be built over night! while discrediting that renewable on components production levels could be easily scaled.
HorkHunter··on Basic Music Theory in ~200 Lines of Python
Does any programmer suffer with music theory as well, just based on the fact that an exact thing could be called in many different ways, depends on its position, function..etc?

my brain kind of cannot accept this fact and I struggle with it

HorkHunter··on System76 Developing “Cosmic” Desktop Environment
KDE really is the unsung hero of the Linux community
HorkHunter··on Who Owns the Nile?
That was the case before they bought the Rafale from France I guess
HorkHunter··on Who Owns the Nile?
That is really old news. read the current situation between Turkey and Egypt, which is actually getting better https://www.reuters.com/article/us-turkey-egypt-diplomacy-id...
HorkHunter··on Who Owns the Nile?
The problem revolves around the filling duration. 3 years is way too fast for the downstream. thirsting the downstream is hardly ever a solution.
HorkHunter··on Who Owns the Nile?
They had a joint training Air force operation 2 days ago named "Nile Eagles"

HorkHunter··on Who Owns the Nile?
The difference is, regardless of political divisions, everyone in Egypt totally understands that they are doomed without water. so the mentality there is slowly shifting towards "well, if we are dying anyway...."
HorkHunter··on Europeans get ‘right to repair’ for some electrical goods
the only phone people swear -or meme- by how strong and sturdy it is had a replaceable battery!
HorkHunter··on Fake Amazon reviews 'being sold in bulk' online
Can confirm, its a shame they stopped delivering to the EU :/
HorkHunter··on Fake Amazon reviews 'being sold in bulk' online
There are some FB groups where users can make money by receiving some products, write a review then send it back. then they get something in return. its not super hidden as well
HorkHunter··on Military seizes control in Myanmar
Heh, no wonder in Egypt they are building the new "capital" as well.. guess all military dictatorships are reading from the same manual.
HorkHunter··on Ask HN: We Cannot Seem to Be Able to Release
I just want to release because, mainly I see we are running into a loop of write something.. see it could be enhanced,, refactor / redesign.. rinse and repeat
HorkHunter··on Ask HN: We Cannot Seem to Be Able to Release
Actually no, the product has a very nice market, however we are in the fault detection field, and as with all these products you will always end up with some percentage of false positive / negatives. and neither devs nor management want to take the risk to just release with known 2-3% error rates
HorkHunter··on AWS announces forks of Elasticsearch and Kibana
And that's exactly what the GPL advocates have been saying for ages.
HorkHunter··on Voat Is Shutting Down
Constant dehumanization of people does not eventually lead to physical violence?

someone somewhere must believe that they should do something about these bad people.

your argument at best is in bad faith

Can we actually annotate or label data with it?
HorkHunter··on Fucking, Austria changes name to Fugging
Sounds plausible,

Similar to weekday names in Portuguese.

HorkHunter··on If high street shopping was like online shopping [video]
my first professional job was similar to this, working on a project which I personally believed to be a totally useless and has no chance of success. at the end I had to park the car wherever the driver wanted and looked for a different job. however I very much sympathize with those who do work in similar conditions as their first/entry job really. could be hard.
HorkHunter··on EA will be releasing the C&C Tiberian Dawn and Red Alert source code under GPL3
Oh god you're going to get bombarded by the "I want to use free software and lock my product" people
HorkHunter··on List of oldest continuously inhabited cities
Yeah in 1775 it happened during All Saints Day, and I think they still say "Todos os Santos não chegaram"which translates to something like "All saints were not even enough to save us"
HorkHunter··on List of oldest continuously inhabited cities
So, Lisbon is older than Rome, TIL!
HorkHunter··on Gleam: A statically typed language for the Erlang VM
I'm starting to see the recent interest as well, which I just wanted to complement.

I've made myself familiar with Erlang around 2011/2012? encouraged by the writing this amazing book [1]. which is still around and super amazing fast introduction IMHO. unfortunately I have never implemented anything of significance with it. maybe its time :)

HorkHunter··on Gleam: A statically typed language for the Erlang VM
I'm really happy the Erlang and BEAM are finally getting the attention / traction they deserve!

the language was kind of underappreciated or considered very niche for a long time
