Heston··on Almost 1/3 of San Francisco charging stations are broken
I find your comment a bit sensational. You both arrived at the same percentage.
Heston··on Engineer turns plastic into bricks that are reportedly stronger than concrete
You're right. He's referring to Asphalt concrete and confusing it with the components of cement. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asphalt_concrete
Heston··on The impact of childhood lead exposure on adult personality (2021)
Those levels are likely not coming from the lead solder but from the supply line to your house
Heston··on The problem with Bitcoin miners
I propose we move to a new system. Proof of Wasted Electricity
Heston··on Stress hormone reduces altruistic behavior in empathetic people
You need a study to confirm you don't give away food when you're starving?
Heston··on Update Firmware of Samsung SSDs in Linux
This works very well. For a linux solution this is pretty painless and arguably more convenient than making a livecd and booting it.
Heston··on Ben Huh can has reddit? I respond entirely in LOLcat photos - Alexis Ohanian
So I guess no one has learned anything from the previous discussions on HN.

Reddit has hit critical mass and therefore has a substantial user base - start charging a monthly fee. Even at $1 a month, I'm sure they could be pulling in 6 figures every month.

Or perhaps I'm mistaken and all they need is more ads.

Heston··on What Is Intelligence, Anyway?
Intelligence is a desire to learn, plus experience.
Heston··on Happiness is earning $60,000/year
This title comes off as cliché...No, money can't buy you happiness but it does allow one to be happy. For when you consider the other end of the spectrum, poverty won't make you happy either; but then, everyone knew that.
Heston··on Many gifted children fail academically
Perhaps Intelligence never did define success. Perhaps it was this unrelated determination that drove people to succeed regardless of their graded abilities.
Heston··on Adam? …is there a reason your laptop is in the fridge?
This is why you typically leave the hard drive (or in this case, the laptop) in the freezer for atleast a few hours. Doing this allowed me to copy a 60 gig which windows couldn't even mount to work no problem - which took well over a couple hours, all in one shot.

Using this method, the electronics don't need to be kept in your refrigerator or freezer.

Heston··on iPhone App Digitizes Sheet Music, Teaches You Piano
Great idea, poor hardware choice.

Really - this would be an amazing app for an aspiring musician but the iPhone screen would make this experience much less enjoyable than it should be.
