GreenWatermelon··on Physical disc production ending in Jan 2028 for new games on PlayStation
Unity is publicly traded, Valve is privately-owned and Engineer-led and Gabe is handsoff according to all current reporting, so I think Valve is still good for the foreseeable future.

In fact, it's thanks to Valve that I no longer need windows to run games and have finally nuked it from my system a bit over a year ago.

So yeah, nothin remains good forever, but credit where it's due, and Valve's DRM is cosmetic at best, and trivial to bypass.

Is the LLM-tone of this comment intentional? Or is it just how you normally write? Honest question.

GreenWatermelon··on An AI agent deleted our production database. The agent's confession is below
No all that dramatization is just what LLMs belch out by default when told to tell a story.
GreenWatermelon··on Have a fucking website
It could be "Please, I beg of you, have a website" or "For the love of God, have a website" or even "AAAHHHHH JUST HAVE A WEBSITE ALREADY"

Many ways exist to cover all ranges of emotions without resorting to a purely cosmetic "fuck"

GreenWatermelon··on Have a fucking website
And in our day jobs we earn money for providing negative value to society. Least we can do is give a little something to someone everynow and then.
GreenWatermelon··on Have a fucking website
That, and giving something nice to your local community ----- the place where you belong.

Like, if I have a skill, why shouldn't I use that skill in service of those around me? Especially when it's barely an inconvenience for me.

The western culture of individualism runs contrary to our biology.

GreenWatermelon··on Global warming has accelerated significantly
of course, we shouldn't forget that they manifacture the entire world's shit, and have a larger population than US and EU combined. And despite manufacturing all shit, they still emit less per Capita than US and EU.

GreenWatermelon··on Don't post generated/AI-edited comments. HN is for conversation between humans
Pure AI slope os often extremely obvious, while for good AI writing that's indistinguishable from thoughtful human writing I'd say "Mission fucking accomplished"[0]

Poe's law strikes.

Parent's last paragraph was definitely an ironic portray of LLM writing! Notice the double-dash emdash.

GreenWatermelon··on Don't post generated/AI-edited comments. HN is for conversation between humans
As someone put ot before, humans use these little constructions maybe once or twice per article, not every single fucking paragraph.
GreenWatermelon··on Don't post generated/AI-edited comments. HN is for conversation between humans
There is also significant meaning encoded in the parent's choice of words that implies more than what's written. "Formulate", "intend", and "receive" imply the parent comes from a technical or academic background, and this is how they express their thoughts. Parent has "intentions", not mere "wants". To the parent, the act of weaving together a comment for communication constitutes "Formulating thought", which is different from just "find wording"
GreenWatermelon··on Don't post generated/AI-edited comments. HN is for conversation between humans
> my ears, "to help me find wording that conveys my thoughts the way I want them to be understood by the reader" conveys the same meaning as "to search for a way to formulate my thoughts like I intend them to be received by the reader"

I disagree with your disagreement and subjective take. The LLM changed the meaning in a significant but not very obvious way.

Compare "I use a hammer to drive nails" to "I use a hammer to help me drive nails"

In the former the writer implies tool use, in the latter the LLM turned that into some sort of assistant relationship. The former is normal, the latter is cringe (to my ears)

GreenWatermelon··on The L in "LLM" Stands for Lying
Yeah, and for good reason. The invitation of the light bulb meant factory owners could force workers into 16 hours shifts. The main beneficiaries of new tech were always the capital owners. Workers had to literally fight and die for our 8-hour workdays and 5-days workweek.

This is still going on today: the massive gains from automation are being hoarded by the wealthy capital owners, while workers struggle to make ends meet.

This garbage actually got over 900 upvotes. Crazy.

I already suspected it was AI written based in the super-cringe title, and a cursory look at the content confirmed my suspicion. Cookie-cutter basic ai writing as it gets.

GreenWatermelon··on 15 years later, Microsoft morged my diagram
The blogpost is most certainly AI-written.
GreenWatermelon··on 15 years later, Microsoft morged my diagram
The first post this guy has written in years and it's LLM/AI Written.

> The AI rip-off was not just ugly. It was careless, blatantly amateuristic, and lacking any ambition, to put it gently. Microsoft unworthy. The carefully crafted visual language and layout of the original, the branch colors, the lane design, the dot and bubble alignment that made the original so readable—all of it had been muddled into a laughable form. Proper AI slop.

Here we see "not just x" pattern combined with 3-items list. The closing short quip, and an emdash despite the author never having used them in any of his older posts, even the one from 2021. I don't know of he told an LLM to generate a post for the irony effect, or if he just couldn't be bothered to write.

In his (or his LMM's) own words:

> obviously AI-slop-y enough

Proper AI slop.
