Also, the future you are referring to is... like... 6 weeks from now.
This is just being a TL. the agent is an assistant or a member of the team. I don't know why we need to call it "Async AI programming", unless we want to shy away from or obscure the idea that the agent is actually performing the job a human used to perform.
My experience is different. I find that AI-powered coding agents drop the barriers to experimentation drastically, so that ... yes if I don't know what I Want, I can go try things very easily, and learn. Exploration just got soooo much cheaper. Now that may be a different interaction that what is described in this blog post. The exploration may be a precursor to what is happening in this blog post. But once I'm done exploring I can define the problem and ask for solutions.
If it's DOA you'd better tell everyone who is currently doing this, that they're not really doing this.
I'm curious. Under what circumstances would it be _not_ possible to disable RC4?
Is this in case there is a Windows 98 machine running somewhere in the network?
ok let's try data instead of feels. Per Capita, what is the number of mass shootings per year in the USA, and in Japan. I did't know the answer but asked Gemini.
The most recent year for which there is data, apparently, is 2023, during which there were 604 mass shootings in the USA, and 1 in Japan. Given the respective population counts, the per-capita rate of mass shootings in the United States was about 225 times higher than in Japan.
Given that, are you confident that your observation that "one guy made a gun once in Japan" is a strong refutation of the idea that the US could reduce mass shootings by strengthening regulations?

But the statement from Cognition was:
> 100% of Windsurf employees will participate financially in this deal
> 100% of Windsurf employees will have vesting cliffs waived for their work to date
> 100% of Windsurf employees will receive fully accelerated vesting for their work to date
The details matter. "vesting cliffs waived" meaning what? Windsurf shares exchanged for Cognition shares? at what ratio?"Participate financially" means what exactly? They could all get a coupon for a free doughnut, and that statement would be true.
I'm not saying the employees are getting nothing, or even a raw deal. I'm saying we have no idea if the deal is good for them, without details.
> theoretically the remaining company could pay accelerate vesting, then pay out the cash to their remaining employees, and then shut down, to give everyone the same exit as an acquisition, or better.
unlikely that will happen. More likely the investors and VCs will take the lion's share of the $2.5B, that is what they do. That is why they exist. And they'll distribute as thin a slice as possible to the employees.
Maybe. But that would probably be temporary. The market is sufficiently dynamic that any advantages they have right now, probably isn't stable defensible longer term. Hence the need to keep spending. But what do I know? I'm not a VC.
Based on reports from today, April 29, 2025, a Canadian federal election was held on Monday, April 28, 2025.
The Liberal Party, led by Mark Carney, won the election. Therefore, Mark Carney is the candidate who has won the position of Prime Minister. Reports indicate this is the Liberal Party's fourth consecutive term in power. It's still being determined in some initial reports whether they will form a majority or a minority government.

I've also been writing code for a long time, did the 6502 assembly thing way back when, and lots since then. For this current project I wanted to build a web app with a frontend in Angular and a backend in Java 21 relying on javalin.io for the services layer. It had a few other integrations as well - into a remote service requiring OAuth and also into subtlecrypto. After less than 10 hours I had a fully functioning MVP that was far superior to anything I could have created without an assistant. It gave me build files, even a test skeleton. Restyling the UI or reflowing the UX to include confirmations, additional steps, modals, ... was really easy. I just had to type it, and those changes would get made. It felt like I was "director of development" for a day.
I used Aider, plugged into Gemini 2.5.

Not that I have any actual insight. but doesn't it seem more likely that it will not be a human, but a model? Models training models.
Reading this article, it occurs to me that it's not very different than the surveillance that the NSA is performing on US Citizens, except the NSA is smarter about it and taps the network access, at the network provider.
You missed the point. It's not that growth in total energy use is slowing, like growth in population is slowing. The point is that per-capital energy use is _declining_. You can't describe a decline as "slowing growth" with a straight face unless you are a Fox News commentator.
