GlitchRider47··on Show HN: Bible as RAG Database
Friend, you are right to question the meaning of the scripture. But, I urge you to continue. Don't stop after you've just begun. Investigate it. This is your kneejerk interpretation. Read the Gospels, read the Acts of the Apostles, see if your interpretation fits.

Reading a helper function for an api call on a web server doesn't tell you what the web server is used for.

GlitchRider47··on Company Will Add Phone, AirPod, and Smartwatch Trackers to ALPRs
Using AirGuard on Android, I'm able to detect iPhones around me even when they are not in pairing mode.
GlitchRider47··on LazyWM – Tiling window manager for Windows 11 / 10
I see links to a "Github Project" on the webpage, but it only shows the html/css for the site, not the actual project code.
GlitchRider47··on Omarchy Is Not A Distro
I know you're being facetious but everything you are saying is kind of the point about Omarchy. The "oma" comes from "omakase" or something like that. The point of it's creation was to give devs at 37Signals a streamlined onboarding process. That is why it includes apps thst the comapny uses internally. The OSS nature of it enables people to fork it and remove the bloat, which is exactly what people have already done.
GlitchRider47··on Kindle loyalists scramble as Amazon turns page on old e-readers
Only if jailbroken
GlitchRider47··on Show HN: Files.md – Open-source alternative to Obsidian
Idk it's pretty common practice to have your landing page at the base url, with the app itself located on a subdomain. Off the top of my head I think of standardnotes, linkwarden, raindrop.
GlitchRider47··on The switch to Linux and the beginning of my self-hosting journey
Self-hosting sucks, yes. But I'll be damned if it isn't fun. It's definitely not for everyone. Not only is it not for everyone, but it is not for everyone's families. I'm so grateful that my wife is willing to put up with me experimenting on our home network, trying out different apps, waiting for me to resolve a DNS issue because I forgot to assign a static IP to my pihole.
GlitchRider47··on A case study in PDF forensics: The Epstein PDFs
Generally, I'd agree with you. However, the recent Epstein file dump was in 2026, not 2025, so I would say it is relevant in this case..
GlitchRider47··on Nova Launcher added Facebook and Google Ads tracking
Yeah.. I used to use Niagra because it really is a great launcher but I don't like the data collection. A great FOSS alternative is Kvaesitso which doesn't have the exact same layout but it is search based. They also managed to implement a native search that in my opinion is better than Sesame.
GlitchRider47··on Nova Launcher added Facebook and Google Ads tracking
That's strange, that hasn't happened to me. Maybe a reinstall might fix the problem? I use it on a Pixel 8A
GlitchRider47··on Nova Launcher added Facebook and Google Ads tracking
Lawnchair is similar, but it does have some bugs that they're still working through.

If you're not set in the traditional page/app drawer launcher, I'd recommend Kvaesitso. It's a FOSS search based launcher. A bit of a learning curve but it is very performant and feature rich.

GlitchRider47··on Spotify increases its US subscription prices for the third time in 3 years
Spotify is not just a music platform but a podcast platform too. I'll bet they make a good amount from Rogan's show. I don't see what the big deal is about giving money to the podcaster making podcasts instead of the artist making music.

I just started using Finamp for Android

https://github.com/jmshrv/finamp

I recommend the beta edition as the UI is quite evolved from the previous version.

GlitchRider47··on Ask HN: E-Book or Audio-Book
Both! Something I've enjoyed about the kindle ecosystem is the ability to seamlessly bounce back and forth between Audible and Kindle, picking up where you left off on either platform. I've been missing this since I switched to KOReader.

My general workflow is to listen while doing chores or driving, read when I can.

GlitchRider47··on A small change to improve browsers for keyboard navigation
Ha! I actually switched from Vimium to Tridactyl partly because I prefer the rough, snappy scrolling. It felt much more like the ctrl+d ctrl+u navigation in VIM.
GlitchRider47··on Ask HN: Do you still bookmark websites?
Yes. If you're into it, it has an AI tagging feature that will add tags based on content.
GlitchRider47··on Notion releases offline mode
I wouldn't say it is unusable lol. Many people don't need to sync. My work notes for example stay on my work computer.

For those that want to sync without paying, many use syncthing, though I don't think this is a feasible workaround for iOS users.

There are some other syncing methods that I haven't really looked into.

GlitchRider47··on Why I'm all-in on Zen Browser
Hamburger menu > more tools > add new profile

Once you have more than one profile, you'll see the switcher in the top right.

Also, turn off all crypto/ai stuff in settings. I did and I never see it.

It's really not that much.

GlitchRider47··on Ask HN: Do you still bookmark websites?
I switched from Raindrop to Linkwarden. The reading/annotation is not as smooth but I don't really use it for that. It's self hostable and has integration with floccus for bookmark syncing with a browser.
GlitchRider47··on Streaming services are driving viewers back to piracy
It blows my mind what slow momentum Amazon has for a company with such vast resources. Kindle, for example, lacks so many features to enhance the reading experience. Jailbreaking my kindle and installing KOReader was a game changer.
GlitchRider47··on 70 Years Ago, Johnny Cash Recorded 'Folsom Prison Blues' and Became a Folk Hero
As someone who discovered Johnny Cash late (in the past decade) I was really surprised to find out that Johnny Cash covered Hurt by Nine Inch Nails, and not the other way around. I never considered the time overlap in their careers.
GlitchRider47··on VPN use surges in UK as new online safety rules kick in
After rereading it with the sibling comment in mind, the swap does make sense in that it subtly shifts the implied causality of the surge in far right polling. My bad for misunderstanding, thanks for the clarifications!
GlitchRider47··on VPN use surges in UK as new online safety rules kick in
I don't think your modification really changes anything from the original comment.

Strange that their progress distribution chart shows a lower percentage (36%) which happens to be the correct one: https://www.project2025.observer/visualize/charts

As a long time customer of Proton, I was not expecting this but I'm very happy they did it.
GlitchRider47··on Lumo: Privacy-first AI assistant
I agree with both of you. GP was harsh, but I personally think dark theme is necessary (and a very basic feature). However, I am grateful that Proton released this as I always felt _icky_ using tools like Grok or ChatGPT. I'm sure improvements will not take long to arrive.

GlitchRider47··on How to Firefox
Do you (or anyone else reading) know of any way to make TST feel like a more native feature? I've messed with the userChrome.css but I hate that it has to be in the sidebar.
