I know you think you are being eminently reasonable, but it's really just another way of saying you intend to keep to those prejudices and not be distracted by treating individuals as individuals. That would be edge case thinking.

I bet it makes you feel really good about yourself.
Thanks for that idea.
Or am I naive and reading way too much into this?
If so, you would have been a much better interviewer than she was.
Well, everyone except this one reporter apparently.
I can't believe this interviewer is quite as stupid as she comes off. So why the bizarre attacks, why act like a Government mouthpiece rather than a journalist?
If the answer is anyone but the people engaging in the speech, isn't that a little dangerous?
I'd hate working for a company that can't meet its payroll. This really is awful, shouldn't the authorization to hire be the authorization to pay a person?
Their efforts just help the next incarnation work better.
Isn't that kind of like the police deciding to make the roads full of potholes because that would make it more difficult for bank robbers to get away in a car.
Then again, considering the quality of the roads these days, maybe they are way ahead of me on that.
The possibility that any speech may slide into commerce would mean any speech is open to observation.
Too high a price IMHO
Certainly you can gainsay that, as you do. So if that's what you mean by it can be debated, point taken.
But I'd agree with the author that it can't be debated - if you are referring to a free society. Unless we adopt an Orwellian New speak version of the word free.
I was never actually a customer, but it clearly filled a need many had. It would be a shame if the void it left isn't filled.
But as covered in this article, it is far more likely that it will be filled and in fact improved on.
The more they tighten their grip ...
Just curious.
To answer your question, I think the same people voted for the French governement as the ones who are daily clicking on Amazon quite happily.
Do you think they are mistaking forests for trees when clicking on Amazon, but expressing great wisdom when voting?
Do you think that when the politicians voted on this particular law, they were thinking of the people or the business interests that fund them?
It just makes sure that customers aren't allowed to get 5 percent discounts and free shipping.
Governments never make short sighted political decisions to protect entrenched interests. The People on the the other hand have to be protected from getting discounts and free shipping. Because that would be a bad financial option for them.
Thanks by the way, I needed a laugh today.
However, they don't get to dictate my behaviour as part of their business model.
I'll decide what my computer renders to my screen. They don't have to run their business like I want, and I don't have to run my computer screen like they want.
I'm really glad he's made this available on line. And at the risk of looking a gift horse in the mouth, I wish it didn't require silverlight.
Now I'm on Newsblur (a lot of good things to say about other alternatives, but this is the one I settled on). With Google out of the way, there is now a chance for small success like them (and Feedly and Old Reader, etc) to get some market share and pull in some revenue.
It has not only turned out to be painless but beneficial. And it's given me a healthier outlook on relying on Google. That is, I don't.
The outrage.
