Geezus_42··on AI Is Threatening Natural Resources for Billions
All or nothing thinking.
Geezus_42··on AI Is Threatening Natural Resources for Billions
Neo-liberal economics is the reason our taxes are subsidizing all of the corporations.
Geezus_42··on AI Is Threatening Natural Resources for Billions
Except that those are very old, very entrenched industries. We are still in the phase where we have a chance of setting some rules for "AI" before it becomes fully entrenched.

I don't think anyone is saying it should be shutdown completely. I think there is a conversion to be had about not rushing to build all these DCs when we haven't had enough time or accurate numbers to prove that the tech isn't just hype. We're seeing more and more companies that went all in now pulling back because it turned out that "AI" failed to actually provide any benefit, or so little that it wasn't worth the costs. And it's not getting cheaper.

Except it is coming out now that those audits are hollow. The fact that the AI companies are lining up to support them proves how useless those audits will be. Abbott just put out that order for political posturing leading up to the election. The entities responsible for implementing the audits (PUC & ERCOT) will drag their feet until after the mid-terms and if Abbott wins he'll conviently forget about them.

There's also tons of natural gas in Texas that either gets vented directly to atmosphere during oil drilling because its not economical to ship to where it can be sold, so provides no benefit to shareholder value.
Geezus_42··on Exploiting System Management Mode with a very long interrupt
Using the example above, if a CPU core is overheating, can you down clock that core using and instruction run on another core? I don't actually know that much about how the hardware actually works at that level, so I am genuinely asking.
Geezus_42··on Docker Sandboxes – Disposable, isolated sandboxes for AI agents
Sounds like what I'm doing with Nix and MicroVM currently.
Geezus_42··on Waymo in Dallas
Dallas drivers are bad enough already...
Geezus_42··on DMARC has been public since 2012 but most company domains still don't enforce it
No. I think that people who can't figure out how to install openDKIM and connect it to Postfix are not competent email admins.
Geezus_42··on DMARC has been public since 2012 but most company domains still don't enforce it
Which is not hard to do. It's literally a switch in O365. It takes a bit more in other environments, but nothing a competent admin should really struggle with.
Geezus_42··on The session you cannot take with you
Use a password manager to autogenerate them?
Geezus_42··on The session you cannot take with you
> This is why it’s important to utilize your freedoms. Do NOT let yourself get locked into a particular ecosystem.

I wish people would apply this same logic to governments.

Geezus_42··on DMARC has been public since 2012 but most company domains still don't enforce it
I don't think you understand how TLS or SMTP work. You can easily send a message via TLS through and open relay. Only accepting TLS would do nothing because most spam and phishing emails are already delivered via TLS.
Geezus_42··on Stop Killing the Internet: No Digital ID and No Age Verification
> Make sure existing and future "non-kid" hardware can't access those kids-only sites.

No I didn't.

Geezus_42··on DMARC has been public since 2012 but most company domains still don't enforce it
No it's not. You just publish another TXT record.
Geezus_42··on LM Studio Bionic: the AI agent for open models
Or you could have just included the link the first time like a normal human being.
Geezus_42··on Stop Killing the Internet: No Digital ID and No Age Verification
Then why make non-kid hardware unable to access it? This whole idea is ridiculous and would never work in reality.
Geezus_42··on DMARC has been public since 2012 but most company domains still don't enforce it
Good on you!
Geezus_42··on DMARC has been public since 2012 but most company domains still don't enforce it
The purpose of DMARC has nothing to do with stopping spam.
Geezus_42··on DMARC has been public since 2012 but most company domains still don't enforce it
SPF, DKIM, and DMARC are not hard. It's literally just publishing data you should already have, a list of your sending IPs, a pubkey, and how to reach you.
Geezus_42··on DMARC has been public since 2012 but most company domains still don't enforce it
Falls outside scope.

Only half joking. If you can't figure out SPF/DKIM then you should find a new job.

Geezus_42··on DMARC has been public since 2012 but most company domains still don't enforce it
I don't get it. Neither one is hard to setup. How do people have such a hard time with such simple configuration. Then again the majority of "mail admins" I have interacted with have absolutely no understanding of SMTP and can barely wrap their heads around DNS.

I've had more than one argue with me that having more than 10 lookups in the SPF isn't the issue even though I am showing them the SPF failure and the RFC stating that you are not allowed more than 10. Like, good for you that Gmail doesn't care, we do, fix your shit.

Geezus_42··on DMARC has been public since 2012 but most company domains still don't enforce it
Why would you care about TLS for spam? Are you proposing that any email sent without TLS should be label spam?
Geezus_42··on DMARC has been public since 2012 but most company domains still don't enforce it
Stopping spam isn't what DMARC was designed for.
Geezus_42··on Stop Killing the Internet: No Digital ID and No Age Verification

Salk didn't need that temporary monopoly to invent the polio vaccine, which has gone on to be one of the biggest success stories of vaccines and modern medicine general.
Geezus_42··on Long presumed dead, a thriving coral reef is discovered in West Africa
No, we'd prefer a world in which we don't destroy the environment for the sole purpose of creating more unneeded and largely useless widgets.
Geezus_42··on LM Studio Bionic: the AI agent for open models
I don't see a link.
