GabrieleR··on Setting up Proxmox VE in terrible hardware: a home lab story
Thanks for the story sir. I would suggest over my very recent experience with this similar setup and matching expertise: #Pro I would suggest NPM as a viable proxy to menage over view of multiple subdomains over more modern solution unless load balancing is needed to scale up. NPM-gui is a sane choise to go for.

#Cons I would suggest buying a domain and transferring it to Cloudflare to set the dns to subdomains (and generate multiple ssl certs with DNS challenge plug-in using NPM[-gui])

What is the setup required to obtain the equivalent of running : ngrok http 8080?
GabrieleR··on SSH-Snake: Automated SSH-Based Network Traversal
The snake sh code was a graceful late night read to me. Thanks. I can see it being used even to purposely puppeteer ssh linked machines
GabrieleR··on Ask HN: How do I train a custom LLM/ChatGPT on my own documents in Dec 2023?
Try with private gpt github repo
GabrieleR··on Qubes OS 4.2.0 has been released

GabrieleR··on Desktop Linux Hardening (2022)
Thank you! This is an extremely good hardening guide. Next weekend is set on this
GabrieleR··on Easy Effects: Audio effects for PipeWire applications
I recently switched form pulse to pipewire specifically in order to use easy effects. I have to say the results are incredible. It's almost too distracting to listen music now since there is greater resolution of sound. I loved the custom community presets and the per-device profile. Fantastic so far. Thanks
GabrieleR··on Ask HN: GPT and Linux: Any projects trying to merge the two?
Try with gabrielerisso/aiyu I'm the creator, it's still very experimental. Before the end of the week it should be fully functional.

GabrieleR··on Google launches first Android beta for ad-tracking overhaul
Yea, sandboxing is great. Sure. Having bought a pixel 6 one year ago; first, I felt constricted by the on-product policy of "enforced" android 13 upgrade [1] then, this appealing beta, that would be hard to pass if proposed. It's mental considering how few devices are in Europe. Is this this the future? Yes, conveniently then, let's get paid for that. There no shame in selling digital property. It's data. Still, can't see how that could be the right approach to take, but curiously the current prospect depicted in this article are closely not optional. So, let's embrace it.

[1] android 13 is definitely the way to go, even if you didn't had to choose. It's a first in a while kind of platform that allows virtualization of multiple server OSs on-board the device. It's portable since tou have a windows 10 personal computer if necessary in you pocket.

GabrieleR··on Dataghost 2: Kabbalistic computational machine (2017)
This is really interesting machine. It mekes me think about the "culte des livres" (French translation from Spanish) written by Luis Borges. The closest mechanical sculpture I remember was exposed at the Reina Sofia museum and was a glorified infinite monkey theorem sculpture (can't remember the name).
GabrieleR··on Show HN: Summarisr – Generate a summary of the key points from any YouTube video

GabrieleR··on Poll: What's the best laptop for Linux these days?
I went for the T15 lenovo thinkpad. Great compatibility. Everything works using Ubuntu or arch Linux. Even finger print reader.
GabrieleR··on Ask HN: How did early streaming services populate their music databases?
I remember spotify was pirating torrents at the very beginning. Saw that in some documentary
GabrieleR··on A visual quine: a chemical you make just by looking at it
Acoustic quine? Polibius effect
GabrieleR··on My return to desktop applications
I enjoined the ending paragraph tone. Alien like remark on the desktop app emergence and rising popularity after 2000.

On my end: being born two years before 2000, makes me a desktop apps powered man and frankly I've been moving away from them. I'm seeking order and density so I've moved to the dark side of the spectrum, towards clis.

There's hope in TUI like apps: like cashiers softwares terminals which displays some of both extremes. Until GUI are able to visually convoy meaningful symbols without ever using explicitly written characters, there's little gain in using them more the a solely characters driven interface.

Thise are personal considerations,

Hopefully I'm just a maniac that enjoy that intimate vibe interacting with a machine rather than clicking it.

GabrieleR··on A man who uploaded 2M videos to YouTube [video]
I got inspired after watching it. There is a clever piece of script behind it. I've planned a full coding session today in order to implement it. Cooking recipes, philosophy quotes, Wikipedia articles (?) and daily news headlines. Still looking for more content. I'm also thinking about TTS functions like the one used in Sir Reddit YT channel. GabrieleR··on Ask HN: Why shouldn't I take advantage of the Crypto/NFT craze?
It makes me laugh a lot when you refer to the kids of a swiss banker as dumb unsophisticated user. if you take a look of a LinkedIn profile of a swiss Baker in Geneva or Zurich you will rapidly understand the profile of those people and that certainly influence profundity their children. Their values are rater uncommod and sophisticated. Growing up as the son of a mathematician probably puts you already ahead then average users.
GabrieleR··on Ask HN: State Actor Botnet for Parallel Computing?
Its an interesting calculation that can assume some relevance if related to a specific case study (find next sexy prime number). A prerequisite would be to konw the processing power needed to tackle the problem in a definite amount of time. Once you have those contour parameter set you can estimate the scale of the botnet.

and last: botnet >> supercomputer in term of scalability since its cost-free and becouse a supercomputer can always be part of the botnet, not the other way around

GabrieleR··on Borges: The Library of Babel [pdf]
I'd say every set of whatever is a language. not the opposite tho
GabrieleR··on Borges: The Library of Babel [pdf]
such an odissey! huge fan here
GabrieleR··on Borges: The Library of Babel [pdf]
most French version that can be found sounds quite bad
GabrieleR··on Borges: The Library of Babel [pdf]
I have tattooed the alefh itself - not the mitical point, but the Hebrew letter - becouse of that. Borges brought me to life throughout my adolescence. Much appreciation from Italy too, the argentino-ispancio translations to Italian suits Borges' writings sinuously.
