Freedumbs··on Ask HN: Anthropic banned me from using Claude Code and I don't know what to do
Again, neither Anthropic or OpenAI asked for PII. Only my payment information. Open Router requires a phone to get an account, which is why I'll never have one.
Freedumbs··on Ask HN: Anthropic banned me from using Claude Code and I don't know what to do
To create an OpenRouter account, you have to supply a phone number. Neither Anthropic or OpenAI required this. This prevents privacy aware users from signing up.
Freedumbs··on Ask HN: Anthropic banned me from using Claude Code and I don't know what to do
I don't know if it's unhelpful if you consider broader time scales. In 2027 or 2028, Anthropic and OpenAI might decide to stop subsidizing LLM usage and charge enough to profit. Would you pay $100 for a bug fix? They're already headed in this direction. Fable was 10x cost of Opus 4.6. They can't keep burning cash forever and we're reaching the peak of what can be justifiably spent on training cycles. Speaking of training, did OpenAI just give up?
Freedumbs··on Ask HN: Anthropic banned me from using Claude Code and I don't know what to do
I use claude and codex with VPN on and off everyday on personal computer. That's not why.
Freedumbs··on Sixty percent of US consumers say 'AI' in brand messaging is a turnoff
When you label anything with an electrical current AI, ignore all copyright, then cite AI as cause for layoffs ... what do you expect? It's all vibes. Qwen released "world models" that are video processing models instructed through text. Words have no real meaning anymore.
Freedumbs··on Feds freaked over Fable 5 after 'fix this code', not jailbreak, say researchers
This is correct and certain subjects are very close to if not impossible like "use versus mention", but LLM security isn't impossible. WAFs are real and have existed for a long time. Input text produces various signals and can be secured.

No security is ever perfect, but we can likely protect LLMs with WAFs that increase security to an acceptable level. Like nation-state required resources to break.

Freedumbs··on What the Fuck Happened to Nerds
Does anyone consider Musk a nerd? He's more into marketing than GOOGL.
Freedumbs··on Amazon CEO's talks with U.S. officials triggered crackdown on Anthropic models
Call me an idiot, but this 'fable' is necessary for big AI to avoid commodotization. If the mythos family is beyond what's economical to train, then there needs to be some external force to create scarcity for demand. Otherwise, the distillers win in 6 months. With the fable, they avoid there's now a product that cannot be a commodity because it's not usable. Only a myth.
Freedumbs··on ICE denies having a protester database. A letter to Congress sheds more light
Your assertion is the US is less corrupt than Mexico? Can you explain how laws are made in America and who they benefit what percentage of the time? Can you explain the open fraud described as AI?
Freedumbs··on Ask HN: What is your (AI) dev tech stack / workflow?
Use whatever terminal you want.

Use claude or codex cli as architect.

Use !architect-model as actor.

Use local model for scout, extraction, etc.

Read recent AI research in arxiv.

Build a system that suits your workflow based on these principles: executable verification is king, independence is mandatory, a zero-failure report is a claim to be audited, not a result to be celebrated.

Freedumbs··on US healthcare still stupidly expensive, with pathetic outcomes, study finds
Do you expect US wait times to be better considering all other metrics are worse? Have you ever tried to access health care in the US?
Freedumbs··on Seattle Shield, an intelligence-sharing network operated by the Seattle police
Self censored headline to avoid flagging? "Amazon, Facebook, ICE, and the FBI have access to a private intelligence-sharing network operated by Seattle police"
Freedumbs··on Tracking Starbucks' 'widely recyclable' cups: none ended up at recycling
So close. If we shouldn't be recycling them, why not walk back up the chain to the start? Plastics are useful, but should be regulated and used in moderation. Ideally, we would use aluminum instead as that seems to be recyclable, but i assume most cans are coated with some sort of plastic on the inside anyway.
Freedumbs··on Tracking Starbucks' 'widely recyclable' cups: none ended up at recycling
Depends where you are. Some places in the US have decided to use landfills to store radioactive waste openly.
Freedumbs··on Tracking Starbucks' 'widely recyclable' cups: none ended up at recycling
I would hope it's a health code violation for a food processing employees to handle something given to them by a customer while processing food without either changing gloves or washing hands.
Freedumbs··on Tracking Starbucks' 'widely recyclable' cups: none ended up at recycling
People are nit picking methodology when it's not even possible to recycle #5. Just throw it in the trash, there's no point wish-cycling. It only messes up the machines that shred and recycle the plastics that are recyclable (#s 1 and 2).

Freedumbs··on EFF is leaving X
I replied to a comment, not EFF. EFF is doing the correct thing, but very late. I'm not advocating for one platform over another.

It is indirectly a political statement to use Twitter. You are supporting Elon Musk who has made himself a central figure in extreme right wing political views.

Freedumbs··on EFF is leaving X
It's my opinion that the most powerful weapon consumers have is the power to vote with your time and money. Using Twitter is voting to support Elon Musk whether intentional or not.
Freedumbs··on EFF is leaving X
Using Twitter in 2026 is a political statement. I don't consume it, but using Twitter would be supporting right wing extremism (or whatever you classify Musk as).
Freedumbs··on Scaling Karpathy's Autoresearch: What Happens When the Agent Gets a GPU Cluster
right. i'm mostly ignorant of the subject and rushing to judgement based on bias. but he did lead the computer vision team for years at tesla that created autopilot. didn't resign in protest and to my knowledge hasn't apologized, but again i'm ignorant and not seeking new data.
Freedumbs··on Scaling Karpathy's Autoresearch: What Happens When the Agent Gets a GPU Cluster
are you familiar with tesla? i'm not super, but am aware of their public things. they introduced fake marketing products called full self driving and autopilot that don't do those things. apparently this person karpathy was in charge of computer vision there. he led the team who is responsible for these systems that occupy our roads which can't navigate due to such outstanding occurrences as sunlight, precipitation, and fog.

i don't know a great deal about the guy. i know: he worked at tesla, led autopilot there. if we ignore the character defects required to work at tesla, he's responsible for designing systems that would certainly kill people because they decided lidar was too expensive.

Freedumbs··on Scaling Karpathy's Autoresearch: What Happens When the Agent Gets a GPU Cluster
The US governement should 'autoresearch' a way to charge this man for his crimes as head of autopilot at tesla.
Freedumbs··on Why the global elite gave up on spelling and grammar
No evidence, pure speculation. They're dumb, and lazy. Never had to work for anything.
Freedumbs··on The Slow Death of the Power User
It's funny people refer to me as a luddite because I don't carry a smart phone often or use social media. I'm not the right product for them. I see value in the tools, but value my privacy instead. The tools aren't made for (power) users, they're made for profit. AND if they're good now, they won't be in 5 years.
Freedumbs··on CBS didn't air Rep. James Talarico interview out of fear of FCC
This is a reminder that the will of Americans doesn't effect policy. Policy is determined by money*

Freedumbs··on Court orders restart of all US offshore wind power construction
You need a mutex to constrain the natural tendencies. The mutex is regulation. Regulation has been defeated and we live in oligarchy (see: Gilens and Page).
Freedumbs··on Claude Code is suddenly everywhere inside Microsoft
Yes. It's much better. Codex is good for an extra review on plans. There's no need to switch. Use both.
Freedumbs··on There's a ridiculous amount of tech in a disposable vape
Right. My point is nicotine addiction doesn't force littering.
