FrancoisBosun··on Bare Metal K8s Clustering at Scale
I'm pretty sure this is related to being able to continue running the applications even if the venue loses Internet access. You can't stop processing orders if your Internet access has a hiccup.
FrancoisBosun··on How Apple let Siri fall behind the Google Assistant and Alexa
Siri is very dumb. I use for for reminders and alarms.

I speak fr-ca as opposed to fr-fr, and some conversations go like this:

  Siri, call X on cell
  Sorry, can’t call X
  Siri, call X on mobile
  Calling X on cell
In fr-ca, we talk about cell phones. In the contact app, the mobile phone is registered as cell phone, but in fr-fr, they use mobile.

I also sometimes have this conversation:

Siri, rappelle-moi de mettre des mouchoirs sur la liste de matériel du camp
(Siri, remind-me to put tissues on the unit’s list of material)
Do you want me to create a list?
I only have one list, on purpose. I have no way to tell Siri that I never want to create new lists.

It appears to me as if some words have more importance than others, such as the word « list ».

Those are my biggest annoyances with Siri. I will continue to speak and use my iPhone in fr-ca, to promote my language and improve the software by providing data points about which languages are used.

FrancoisBosun··on Programmers who want to change how we code before catastrophe strikes
Smartphone controllable light switches and blinds are useful for disabled people.
FrancoisBosun··on Curl’s backdoor threat
No it doesn't, but what if you can be convinced to use a compromised version of curl that downloads a compromised nginx? This is the threat model that we are looking at here. That's why we should always verify signatures for packages we download, to make sure we get the right bits.
FrancoisBosun··on Towards a JavaScript Binary AST
I feel like this may become some kind of reimplementation of Java's byte code. We already have a "write once, run anywhere" system. Good luck!
FrancoisBosun··on Canadian cable companies interrogate, search Montréal software developer
His phone was seized... he couldn't have filmed even if he had wanted to. Besides, 16 hours, nothing I own would film for that long without changing something.
FrancoisBosun··on Bitbucket Pipelines Beta: continuous delivery inside Bitbucket
You mean I should build a Docker image with both Java and Ruby? The image would be much larger than intended in that case. In production, I would have two different Docker images.
FrancoisBosun··on Bitbucket Pipelines Beta: continuous delivery inside Bitbucket
What about multi-language repositories? If I have Java + Ruby, how will Pipelines work?
