Flockster··on Opensnitch, application level interactive firewall, heading into Debian
A question that comes to mind reading this. Is it possible to block/limit outbound traffic of a docker-container?

I'm thinking of a situation where I want to run a precompiled binary, but only want it to talk to an other container and not the outside world. How would I do that?

Flockster··on Tweetbot is back down again
The thing is, I can't think of a company, with even a 1/10 the userbase that did not at least announce turning of such a service. These changes impact at the very least the users of Twitter itself. And given the history of Twitter, one can argue that the success was in part due to these third party clients.
Flockster··on A formula for the nth digit of 𝜋 and 𝜋^n
I don't think that would be true seeing 1/3 = 0.3333.. , or am I reading this wrong?

Have you tried Eternal Terminal?

Flockster··on Tell HN: Happy Thanksgiving
Yup, I use TreeStyleTabs and the Open in New Tab Extension set to this domain.

That way, the root page is the main page, the comments are children and the link and other links from the comments are children of it's comments page

Flockster··on Electric Cars – fuel duty and road tax: how to replace £35B annual revenue
That sounds interesting, do you have some more infos about this, how the 4th power comes about? I don't have any intuition why it would be that "high". Or some keywords to lead my google searches ;)

Flockster··on DeLorean returns with 300-mile Taycan rival for 2024
Yes, but then they follow up with:

> "The rest of the production run, while still low-volume, will be built and marketed more conventionally and so will go through the necessary homologation processes for legal use on the road."

Why can't the fancy, expensive, showoff NFT cars go through the same process?

Flockster··on DeLorean returns with 300-mile Taycan rival for 2024
> "Initially, de Vries explained, the car will be sold in a limited run of 88 – referencing the speed needed to time-travel in the 1985 sci-fi film Back To The Future, in which the DMC famously starred.

Each will serve as an avatar for an associated NFT, meaning they won’t be road-registered and suitable only for track use."

Why?!

Flockster··on Solid-state cells will cut EV charging time and increase volumetric density
One tank of gas amounts to around 700km. After 5 years it would amount to ~175.000km. This car will most likely not live for 20 years without mayor replacements and repairs.
Flockster··on Airbnb wants to GPS track you also when not using the app
I can choose for each app: contacts, calendar, reminder, photos (whole gallery or choose pictures), Bluetooth, local network, UBW, microphone, speech recognition, camera, health, (sensors?, Never seen that before), Homekit, media, files, movement and focus.

And location of course (never, ask next time, when using and always) with a toggle to set it to "approximated position"

Flockster··on Indiana life insurance CEO says deaths are up 40% among people ages 18-64
Unavailable from the EU.
Flockster··on Intel seems awfully scared of Graviton2. Why pay for this ad on Google?
Yes, for nearly every semi-popular project, there already exsists an arm-compatible docker container to deploy it on a pi.
Flockster··on Winamp source code leak
Wow, it made my Firefox stuck for a few seconds, opening it in a new tab. (So it wasn't viewable while loading).
Flockster··on Firefox 93
It's already in Firefox Nightly and Chrome Beta as far as I know.
Flockster··on Spain will ban selling fruit and vegetables in plastic containers starting 2023
Is there a picture of those containers in question?

What are we talking about here? Bananas in plastic boxes? Because in my supermarket in Germany, nearly everything is without packaging, except maybe berries in cardboard containers.

There was a public discussion about organic cucumbers in shrinkwrap, I think for differentiation reasons. But many switched to simple stickers here.

Flockster··on USA Today is getting a paywall. Who’s the audience for it?
I think this was the idea of flattr. A little different, you set a fixed amount per month and this was splitt across the articles/media you consumed. It was quite popular in the german podcasting scene, where you then "paid" per show you listened.
Flockster··on State of the Windows: How many layers of UI inconsistencies are in Windows 10?
I'm a TreeStyleTab user in Firefox with always >200 Tabs open. But I never got the idea of Tabs in Explorer (or Finder for that matter).

When I use multiple Explorer Views, most of the time I do it, to interact between them. This is not the case for websites.

So for drag and drop interactions, two windows always beat the drag, hover over the other tab until it catches my intend to switch to this tab, and drop it there workflow.

The same goes for copy and paste. Ctrl+c, alt+tab, ctrl+v. I'm sure there is a corresponding command to cycle through the tabs, but alt+tab is deep muscle memory, that it beats this command always.

Flockster··on All-new iMac features the M1 chip
That was not the question. I was comparing it to other MacOS devices
Flockster··on All-new iMac features the M1 chip
That could be the case. The Ethernet-Port is moved to the Powerbrick.
Flockster··on All-new iMac features the M1 chip
Did I see it correctly, that the iMac only comes with 8GB Ram configurations?

Doesn't the MacBooks come with an 16GB option?

Flockster··on Show HN: Grit – a multitree-based personal task manager
Wow a very cool idea. The idea of many root nodes for different views seems interesting. Unfortunatly it does not build on my pc, it seems to import an absolute path in the go build command of the Makefile, which it can not do. (cannot import absolute path)

Since I never really worked with go, I don't know where to start here.
