FlacidPhil··on How Denver Is Becoming the Most Advanced Transit City in the West
There are other services such as Zip Car and Car2Go that work very well for running errands. I live downtown Denver and sold my car nearly a year ago, haven't looked back since. There are times I rely on friends to go to the mountains and such, but for the most part I'm just fine without a car.
FlacidPhil··on Networkr is a Tinder-style networking app for LinkedIn contacts
Ahhh gotta love that never-ending list of apps to build.
FlacidPhil··on New DuckDuckGo design
I love the Forecast.io integration, by far the most beautifully done weather app out there.
FlacidPhil··on Android user sues Apple for not delivering texts after she ditched her iPhone
My father made the hop from iPhones to the Galaxy S5 recently. He couldn't love the phone more, but also had this same iMessage debacle. It just made him dislike Apple even more, they were awful at resolving the problem, and just left a sour taste in his mouth.
FlacidPhil··on Elon Musk: Gigafactory will take battery production 'to another level'
My guess is because you can't even BUY a Tesla in Texas. Why would they set up a $5B factory in a state where they can't even sell a car? http://www.teslamotors.com/advocacy_texas

EDIT: Amongst other reasons of course, just a guess on one factor. Hard to say it's business friendly when they've banned the company from doing business there.

FlacidPhil··on Moves joins Facebook
I used it for a few weeks until I had a good sense of my average daily activity. After that I turned it off due to the battery drain as well. It wasn't a horrendous drag on battery life, but enough that it wasn't worth using when daily stats didn't change much.

Nobody bought Dropbox.. In fact Dropbox purchased Loom last week. I haven't seen news about Facebook buying anyone since Oculus.
FlacidPhil··on Am I really a developer or just a good Googler?
In this day and age, I feel being 'smart' is much more about your ability to find and apply information than it is about memorization.
FlacidPhil··on Microsoft unveils Windows Phone 8.1 with personal assistant Cortana
Do you not see the big 'A' at the start? 'At its Build 2014 conference' makes sense.
FlacidPhil··on Linear Feeds Perform Better Than Grids
Great write-up. From a user perspective, grid feeds like Flipboard look great, but I find them a bit less friendly. I'll lose my spot, have a hard time finding the other article I wanted to read, and am generally just a bit more frustrated. I always go back to linear feeds in the end.
FlacidPhil··on Ask HN: Is it me or ...?
Personally, it's always been about trying to separate my frustrations with the company I'm working for, and frustrations with work. No matter what job you have, it's still a job and there will be things that you are unhappy about. The thing you need to figure out is whether those frustrations would be resolved by switching companies, or if they are frustrations that come no matter where you work. Sometimes the grass is damn green on the other side, but when you move over the same problems follow you.
