FirstHopSystems··on Ask PG: Why does HN uses full width while paulgraham.com has limited width?
Crtl and the '-' key together will help!
FirstHopSystems··on Ask PG: Why does HN uses full width while paulgraham.com has limited width?
HN is floating for me. I've never seen it full screen?
FirstHopSystems··on HBGary planned to "blow the balls off Nmap"
It's really simple to program in ASM or using ISE/Verilog. going to a low tech approach it can be done on graph paper.

No reason why it's specific..Simple, 'easy to port'. I was doing a little bit of research about a theory I had but when I figured out enough I never fully completed that little project.+2 years prior.

FirstHopSystems··on HBGary planned to "blow the balls off Nmap"
I'm going to use Javascript and Redis. I'm working on a few little projects to learn both systems a little bit better.
FirstHopSystems··on HBGary planned to "blow the balls off Nmap"
He was probably looking at a data structure white papers/research. LFSR is good to use as a primary key for DB's./Linked lists(sequential numbers, no so great) I was working on an API along while ago using C.

I think this could be a mission for Redis and Node! Anyone want to hack together a little API/framework for LFSR Generation?

FirstHopSystems··on Xcode now costs US$ 4.99
It would be so barren and lonely. Good ole Apple tax.

MOOOOOAAAR!!!

FirstHopSystems··on Xcode now costs US$ 4.99
This is just the beginning. Apple is in the position of "Your going to take it, and your going to LOVE IT." What are you going to do? Not develop for iOS/OSX with Xcode? Bwahahaha. Don't forget apple is a large public corp. I don't think making less money is in the plans.

This is just a small part of the plan. Just wait until you have to be in a Apple approved facility, wearing apple approved developer uniforms to independently program anything for Apple.

FirstHopSystems··on Ask HN: 'Idea' guy moving in the right direction?
Yeah, ignore my Java comment. I would start out with just plain ole Javascript.
FirstHopSystems··on Ask HN: 'Idea' guy moving in the right direction?
Jcasc - looking for learning java material?
FirstHopSystems··on Ask HN: Where could I find a co-founder that wants to change the world?
I would like to know more.

I'm a server-stack guy looking for something to get into.

Measuring apathy? Don't worry, everything is going to be okay.
FirstHopSystems··on SelectOut: Opt out of being tracked online
This is kind of like trying to op out getting into a car crash. Or better, getting robbed.

Hello Customer, Acct#6548856 we are not tracking you. No, some other company is tracking you. Were not doing it directly but we sure are buying data from companies who do.

Not getting tracked, I can think of a few companies that a large part of it's worth is by all the information they collect/track.

Facebook? - Last time I checked they don't pay employees minimum wage. When is the last time you had to pay Facebook to access it? Money is coming from someplace. Directly or indirectly someone is going to be tracking you.

FirstHopSystems··on IE6 died March 1, 2010
I wish it would read 'Executed' vs 'died'. I'm pretty sure crimes against humanity is a capital offense.
FirstHopSystems··on Anyone else doing computer forensics or ediscovery?
I'm on the lookout for interesting projects to hack-on and forensics would feel like home. If your still looking at this thread mail me at Bcounsell1 () Gm/ail <> com.
FirstHopSystems··on Anyone else doing computer forensics or ediscovery?
Looking to put something together? I deal with hardware most of the time. I'm trying to get out of that world and into building applications.
FirstHopSystems··on Anyone else doing computer forensics or ediscovery?
True. I've used VM's, kind of like ant farm to run images through a bunch of tests and see what happens. Most of it was hacked together. It would be interesting to see what kind stuff you could do with Cluster Computing when it comes to pulling apart everything.

I've had to do static analysis of memory images paired up with FPGA's for certain types of hardware. Yeah...It drains the life out of you.

FirstHopSystems··on Anyone else doing computer forensics or ediscovery?
Good ole stego. Manual discovery is 99% of the fun!
FirstHopSystems··on Ask HN: Questions lie and mislead. Data does not.
Haha yes...whoa a little late on my reply.
FirstHopSystems··on Anyone else doing computer forensics or ediscovery?
I work on the signal side of discovery. What do you have in mind?
FirstHopSystems··on Ask HN: Should I learn to code first then cook up startup idea or vice versa?
Do both, They will compliment each other.
FirstHopSystems··on Ask HN: Questions lie and mislead. Data does not.
The greatest trick women have ever played is convincing the world they don't share secret stashes of female knowledge.
FirstHopSystems··on Ask HN advice: C++ into Java programming
Check out "TheNewBoston" on youtube, he has a decent collection of Java tutorials.
FirstHopSystems··on Is youtube.com down right now?
I'm getting some weird traffic coming from one of the caches. It's been super slow for me.
FirstHopSystems··on Rhapsody passes on Apple's "economically untenable" sub plans
Pretty soon..I'm sure it will be 30% of your advertising revenue. Rent? This is more like taking a chunk out of your paycheck. For all the employees out there I'm sure your company would love to take part of your check for the opportunity to work.

30%? do you get any other benefits from Apple? or is it "you take it and you like it."

Apple just has to do is sit there and let the small developers take all the risk. Are they loosing money on each phone sold? I can see charging a payment processing fee like PayPal. 30%? I just hope this doesn't set any precedent.

FirstHopSystems··on Expert Exchange gets narky after snub from Q/A site review
Make sure you use a real fake name. Not a fake fake name.
FirstHopSystems··on Expert Exchange gets narky after snub from Q/A site review
::SOB SOB:: looks like someone felt left out. Whoa! no VCs? I would just love to see what would happen if they found out I didn't pick them for my kickball team. Looks like Fortune magazine in the end all for what's right in this universe.

Pretending like you took part in the interview. I can only describe it to my self as...Desperation.

Maybe this is whine your-self some more recognition tactic? I've been out of the game since I was 6 years old, I can't be sure.

FirstHopSystems··on Quora To Oddly-Named Users: Papers Please
I also loved the fact that I get a message from a Anon admin telling me the rules state everyone has to use their real name. Coming from an Anon admin..if it's automated at least tell me the host name.....

Good Design! Super Effective. I think it is one of the best landing pages I have seen in awhile.
FirstHopSystems··on Wow, the things that people will do for money: "I Do Anything"
This made my day...When I need a theme song I know exactly where to turn too.
FirstHopSystems··on Groupon spends big on Superbowl commercials, but ads anger many viewers
I think they succeeded at getting people to talk about it[Marketing Objective Complete!]. If it makes it onto HackerNews I can only imagine how many times I'm going to have to hear about super bowl commercials in every other website I visit.

I think the height of super bowl ads was Herding Cat's. After that I don't think I could ever be entertained by super bowl commercials anymore.
