Farfignoggen··on Taylor Swift fans are leaving X for Bluesky after Trump's election
Since the environmental regulations are about to be somewhat gutted in the US, would not the best way to fight for the environment be to just limit the purchasing conspicuous goods and services! Maybe it's time to do as they tried to do some 60 years ago and become less materialistic.

Just purchase less cars and electronics and other things unless they completely wear out or just purchase used and not the new that's polluting the planet. But I'm also all for avoiding the agricultural products of the Red Districts in favor of some backyard gardens in the Blue Districts instead. But why anyone "Progressive" wants to use X after MUSK took over is beyond me and folks need to stop buying the products/services of the billionaires and purchase more from alternative channels.

Boycotts can have some effects where Politicians are so bought and paid for and so that appears logical to just purchase less of the items that are not really needed unless one is replacing some product that's worn out. But used laptops and other non new products are an option to help the environment when the Politicians are so corrupted!

In stead of shouting How Dare You just shut your wallets instead and no need to suffer the environmental regulations being gutted as the production of the major polluting products slows down in the face of falling demand!

Farfignoggen··on Qualcomm Approached Intel About a Takeover in Recent Days
More than 10 years and that's why Intel's stock price fell so precipitously as Intel cancelled that dividend and Intel losing its dividend focused luster to dividends focused investors!

But the amount of Folks that comment on these Mergers & Acquisitions(M&A) sorts of articles and the US regulations regarding M&As and the main litmus test for rejection there being if that Acquisition will reduce the competitive landscape of Intended market players that compete in that market!

And So Qualcomm's Snapdragon X Elite and previous Windows on ARM Laptop/PC products are more direct competition to Intel's/AMD's Windows on x86 products! Linux on ARM as well, as Tuxedo Laptops(Linux OS Based OEM) is planning on releasing a Snapdragon X Elite Linux OS based laptop!

That and Intel only controls the IP surrounding the x86 32 bit/Earlier 16/8 bit parts of the x86 ISA while AMD's the IP owner of the x86 64 bit ISA extensions! But Intel and AMD have a cross licensing agreement between them for their respective parts of the x86 ISA IP rights and so Intel has no legal right to transfer AMD's x86 64 bit ISA extensions License to any third party and ditto for AMD and any of the 32 bit earlier parts of the x86 ISA that are Intel's IP.

Qualcomm or any other competitor in the CPU/dGPU market will not be able to get past the regulators easily and Nvidia can not acquire Intel because of Intel's Discrete GPU market presence where Intel's ARC/Later Discrete GPUs are a welcome 3rd player attempt at the low end to mainstream dGPU market place Competition against AMD and Nvidia!

Farfignoggen··on AMD laptop OEMs decry poor support, chip supply, and communication
If AMD had been extremely conservative then they would not have wasted 12 Billion+ US dollars on Share Buybacks in 2021/2022 and on through to today and invested that money in growing their Client PC/Laptop market share. But Lisa Su and Management team wants a more IBM like AMD that goes after the higher margin business and consumer is just there to uptake the Zen generational CCDs samples that do not make the binning grade to be Branded Eoyc/TR Pro and command the higher markups.

So all of AMD's Zen generational CCDs are produced on the same diffusion lines at TSMC and then the Zen CCDs go into AMD's CCD Binning operation where the CCDs with the best electrical characteristics(Operate Stably at the lowest voltage and use the least about of power/generate the lowest amount of heat in doing so) get taken aside for Server/HPC and Epyc branding and markups. While AMD takes the CCD samples with the not so performant electrical characteristics(Needs more Voltage to operate stably and uses more power/generates more heat) and that gets binned down for Ryzen/Consumer Branding and the not so good markups. And so for AMD those Zen CCDs, that do not make the Epyc/TR Pro binning grade, are costs recovered via the consumer market and that's why AMD has a consumer market segment to begin with to unload any non performant for server/HPC/Pro Workstation market CCD samples.

Has anyone read the recent article on the Epyc 4004 processors that are for the AM5 platform but for small business usage and the Overclockers getting a hold of that and they have found a way to unlock a CPU clocked locked part that's not supposed to have that ability! And look at the high Overclocks achieved on those not for consumer market Epyc 4004 parts that are the better binned Epyc Grade Silicon and thus actually can be overclocked higher because that's from the cream of the Zen Generational CCD samples.

And so for AMD they have to have some minimal Ryzen/consumer market to uptake the non performant for Professional Market usage CCD samples that are a little more power hungry as they need higher voltage to operate stably compared to the Epyc Binned CCD samples. The server binned CCDs are for clients that favor low power usage and performance per watt over higher clocks at the cost of power efficiency.

The laptop market is a bit different save AMD's Dragon Range laptop parts currently that are just the same desktop Ryzen CCD based processors that are BGA packaged for laptops instead of LGA packaged for socket based MBs! But eventually most of AMD's laptop parts may not be monolithic die based parts and become more like the CCD based desktop parts where the cream of the CCD samples never makes its way into consumer based SKUs. Most of AMD's current lineup of Mobile APUs are monolithic APU DIE based and so have no Epyc equivalent like parts to get the better Die samples and leaving the less performant samples for consumers.

AMD also has terrible ROCm/HIP support for AMD's Consumer iGPUs and dGPUs and so it's nearly impossible for any Integrated GPU Accelerated Blender 3D Cycles rendering on Ryzen Integrated Graphics or on most consumer Radeon dGPUs, save some limited SKUs of the most recent Radeon dGPU generation parts!

And so Intel's consumer hardware via Intel's OneAPI and Level-0 GPU compute API has better support for creative applications on Linux and Windows for Intel's consumer iGPU and dGPU SKUs. And AMD's support for iGPU/dGPU compute workloads has always been a sore point among end users while Nvidia's support for Blender 3D and other Professional graphics applications on Nvidia's consumer parts has always been better. And really for Apple's M series processors on Apple silicon Apple makes sure that its iGPUs can be used for Blender 3D's iGPU accelerated cycles rendering. So if one is looking to do creative workloads other than gaming AMD's not the first choice there as Intel/Nvidia/Apple have the better support for iGPU/dGPU compute workloads on their respective consumer processors.

Farfignoggen··on AMD deprioritizing flagship gaming GPUs: Jack Hyunh on New Strategy vs. Nvidia
GP102 had more Quadro/Pro Branded SKUs/Binnings and one consumer SKU for the runt die samples that did not make the binning grade to get branded Quadro and so that became the 1080Ti. And the more than one 1080Ti variant was because that was VRAM capacity and memory clocks related for market segmentation reasons!

And then Nvidia created Volta for the Data Center and AI as that had the first generation Tensor cores in a GPU.

TU102 was the same and for Quadro at the high end with some consumer binning as well and even the top end TU104 was initially reserved for Quadro until the Turing generation cards were getting ready to be replaced by the Ampere cards. And the Top end TU104 binning eventually was released for gaming usage(under the Super or Ti Branding).

Nvidia's Pro Graphics Workstation market domination has given Nvidia the funding to create those Giant Monolithic Tape-Outs and Billions for the mask-sets for that every generation. And maybe the gaming revenues were large relative to non gaming at one time but not any longer and most all of Nvidia's later acquisitions of other companies were for the Data Center Market and not consumer/gaming!

Gamers have some sort of collective Myopia with regards to Nvidia's focus on gaming only and gamers! And Nvidia's/Tech Press's marketing focus helped establish the appearance of Nvidia as a gaming only company. But look at Jensen's Keynotes over the last many years and even at consumer/gaming focused events and Jensen's Keynotes were/are mostly AI/Enterprise and cloud services focused, much to the chagrin of gamers!

Farfignoggen··on AMD deprioritizing flagship gaming GPUs: Jack Hyunh on New Strategy vs. Nvidia
The Majority of the gaming market's TAM is in mainstream GPUs and not Flagship GPUs! And all of Nvidia's Large Monolithic Graphics oriented GPU die Tape-Outs are for the Professional Graphics Workstation market first and foremost with some limited number of those Large GPU die samples not making the binning grade for Pro Workstation market usage and so that gets binned down for Flagship Consumer gaming!

And both AMD and Intel lack much of any larger Professional Graphics Workstation Market presence and the Pro Markups to justify that kind of investment for giant monolithic GPU Die Tape-Outs for Pro Graphics Workstations!

Take Nvidia's GP102 tape-out from the past as an example and that Giant tape-out had more Quadro Branded SKUs and only one consumer branded binning, the GTX 1080Ti! And it's the same for Nvidia's later generations where that's for Quadro/A-series branded Pro Graphics workstation GPUs where Nvidia "__102" Tape-Outs are mostly Quadro/A series(The A series branding has supplanted Quadro branding for Nvidia Pro Graphics Workstation GPUs).

Farfignoggen··on CS students in the US substantially outperform those in China, India, and Russia
The Study's Method of establishing if a student in the US educational Institution is actually from the US by Birth or a Naturalized US citizen after immigration is questionable as well as simply a citizen/national of some other country that's in the US for educational training.

Using English Language as the student's chosen best understood(Spoken/Written) language to determine if any student is likely from the US can result in students from other English speaking countries being included! And in the EU many can speak English/Other European language/Languages. So how to reduce any false positives there?

Farfignoggen··on Linux desktop market share climbs to 4.45%
Now ask yourself the same question but only for iGPU/dGPU compute API support from AMD on Linux and I do not think that you or anyone will come to the same conclusion on Linux!

And really Valve/Linux Community is more responsible for AMD's Opensource Radeon drivers and Gaming performance on Linux than AMD is!

Even Intel has better Blender 3D iGPU/dGPU Accelerated Cycles rendering support for Intel's ARC/Earlier iGPUs and dGPU hardware(Via OneAPI/Level-0) and iGPU/dGPU compute API support on Linux. And so really one must first consider what Linux Opensource applications need proper iGPU/dGPU compute API support so they do not have to use the slow and power hungry CPU rendering/whatever fallback instead.

And Blender 3D used to support OpenCL as the iGPU/dGPU compute API for AMD and Intel Graphics but even back then AMD's OpenCL component was not easy to get installed and working on Linux. And Linux/MESA had the old clover OpenCL implementation in the MESA drivers but that was not kept updated for OpenCL feature set support! And even with the newer Rusticl OpenCL Implementation in MESA that's just been created is that Rusticl/OpenCL implementation been fully enabled in any Ubuntu versions or Ubuntu derivatives currently?

Look at support for AMD's ROCm/HIP in Linux and for Consumer/Client iGPUs and dGPUs and that's rather limited and Polaris dGPUs have long since been dropped form the ROCm/HIP support matrix and Vega iGPU/dGPUs are on borrowed time for ROCm/HIP support.

So be careful there giving too much credit to AMD's iGPU/dGPU efforts on Linux as there's more to that story. And Look at Blender 3D where that works with Nvidia's CUDA and Works with Apple's Metal and iGPU compute API support there and dGPUs as well.

And I'm on Linux Mint and never going back to Windows but all my older AMD iGPU/dGPU hardware has never been properly supported for Blender 3D's iGPU/dGPU accelerated Cycles rendering. Intel's got better iGPU/dGPU compute API support on Linux but for ARM Based Processors Apple's the only choice there for proper Blender 3D iGPU support and no mention of Blender 3D iGPU accelerated Cycles rendering support for Qualcomm's Adreno X1 iGPUs on the Snapdragon X Elite SOC based laptops or Mini Desktop PC(Coming soon for consumers).

Farfignoggen··on RISC-V must get its messaging right on open standard vs. open source
Faster than Jim Keller's/Tenstorrent's RISC-V based Ascalon processor?
Farfignoggen··on RISC-V must get its messaging right on open standard vs. open source
ISAs are not the hardware as the hardware is made up of Instruction Decoders and a micro-op engine and other parts that's implemented in the hardware and that is someone's bespoke design that's engineered to execute that ISA. So ISAs are just execution templates that are created to implement a standard execution model and standard encodings with rules that are to be followed by whoever has designed the hardware to execute that ISA(Standard).

The RISC-V ISA is just another standard with a multitude of different ways, in hardware, for someone to implement that ISA. The RISC-V ISA is only special in that it's License Free to use that RISC-V ISA and so no money has to change hands or no royalties have to get paid to utilize the RISC-V ISA/standard. And the RISC-V ISA has no limitations on any set/subset of Instructions that the end user must implement and so that's popular for making Micro-controllers that are never going to be used for any general purpose computing anyways.

There needs to be some Legal definition of just where the ISA ends and the Micro-Architecture begins as that's the de-marking line there as to where the Standard ends and someone's hardware implementation begins. Because on Modern Micro-Processors the ISA instructions/encodings get broken down into Micro-Ops and it's the Micro-ops that are actually what the micro-op engines are executing to get that work done.

I'm sure ARM Holdings does not like RISC-V as that's not good for their ISA Licensing business model but RISC-V is not going to be easily stopped as how easy is it to realistically stop some standardized way of doing things. The only thing that can get restricted is the actual hardware implementations that are engineered to execute the RISC-V ISA if those are created in the US/EU/"West" but that's never going to stop anyone from creating their own bespoke hardware that implements the RISC-V ISA Standard. Impossible to do that for any ISA that's implemented for internal use only.

Farfignoggen··on California's fast food law exempts Panera Gov. Newsom's relationship
LOL as Panera loses its employees to the competition that are forced to pay 8+ dollars more per hour and at a more rapid pace thereafter! And no one wants to take any position at Panera if they can get higher paying food service work across the street! Most workers will just find other employers that pay more and thus the experiment will start for Panera on how the prevailing wage levels in the Golden Bear state will force Panera to raise wages regardless!
Farfignoggen··on Amazon joins companies arguing US labor board is unconstitutional
Congress can Overrule the SCOTUS and the Voters can Change Congress and if things get too Conservative Activist in the SCOTUS and the 1%-5% of the wealthy in the US get too much sway then that's only one Depression Away there from moving back the other direction, A La FDR and another New Deal! And just because any Administrative Law Court and agency is set up under the executive branch does not mean that it was not set up by Congress and is not under Congressional Review where the Executive Branch head of any agency gets reviewed by a Congressional Committee on a regular basis. Congress sets up administrative Courts and any Administrative Law Court NLRB/Other Administrative Law Court can have its decisions appealed to a Federal District Court or a DC Circuit panel of Judges and on up to the SCOTUS.
Farfignoggen··on Amazon joins companies arguing US labor board is unconstitutional
Corporations are not the same as People and The Citizens United SCOTUS decision was the most slippery slope there. And if you want to Weather some really serious social strife not seen since the last Gilded age then just go right back to the late 19th century and early 20th and look at Labor History in the US.

I do not see what this has to do with Small Farmers any more that any other business and really if you like depressions then just keep moving more wealth from the Middle Classes and moving the up to the 1-5% richest in the US and you will get that depression to clean/balance that all out there. The US is a consumer economy and the Middle Class in the US is Directly/Indirectly the creation of the Labor Movement in the US and there's no getting around that fact in the history of the US. The US has been in a New Gilded age since the 1980s and that's about ready to begin being turned back towards being more Labor Focused and moving the Tax Burden back onto the Corporations and off of the backs of the Middle Class that are not really Middle Class if one looks at the cost of Living currently!

Farfignoggen··on Amazon joins companies arguing US labor board is unconstitutional
NLRB was set up by Congress to enforce the National Labor Relations ACT! So it's basically a court that's set up to adjudicate Labor Disputes and enforce Labor Laws/Regulations and promote negotiated solutions rather than Strikes and Walkouts. And in fact if there's a strike planned then the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service has to be notified in advance of any Strike Vote! Go on strike without notifying the FMCS and the strike is not legal and can result in a Union losing their case there in Labor Court(NLRB).

So if one wants to go back to the old days of the Pinkerton Thugs and wildcat strikes and outright social conflict then just try and get rid of the NLRB and related Laws and Courts.

Farfignoggen··on AMD funded a drop-in CUDA implementation built on ROCm: It's now open-source
Lisa Su in a later presentation/event announced that ROCM is no longer an acronym! So Radeon Open CoMpute is no longer the definition there! But ROCm/HIP and CUDA/CUDA Tools, and OneAPI/Level-0 are essentially the same coverage/scope for AMD, Nvidia, Intel respectively as far as GPU Compute API support goes and HPC/Accelerator workloads as well.

So there's a YouTube Video from some Supercomputer conference where the presenter goes over the support Matrix info for ROCm/HIP, CUDA/CUDA Tools, and OneAPI/Level-0 and they are similar in scope there.

Farfignoggen··on AMD funded a drop-in CUDA implementation built on ROCm: It's now open-source
I'm waiting for Rusticl(OpenCL Implemented in the Rust programming language) as part of the MESA driver stack to get enabled in Mint 22(Sometime in April 2024). And maybe I can use the Older Legacy Blender 2.93/earlier editions that use OpenCl as the GPU compute API instead of Blender 3.0/later editions that have dropped support for OpenCL in favor of CUDA/PTX(Whatever) that requires the HIP part of ROCm to get translated to a form that can be executed on Radeon GPU hardware.

CUDA PTX is that Intermediate Language representation that's portable for cross platform usage but I'm not exactly sure how that is implemented for Blender 3.0/later.

P.S I have Ryzen 3000/Zen+ series APUs and Vega Integrated Graphics on 2 systems and the laptop has Ryzen 3550H/Vega 8CU iGPU and Polaris Radeon RX560X dGPU while the Mini Desktop PC has Ryzen 3400G/Vega 11CU iGPU only.

And I'm on Linux Mint 21.3 and so how to change any instillation script to think that Mint is Ubuntu to get that to maybe work there but there's no how-to for Mint like the one that AMD provides for Ubuntu! And really that's compiled By AMD for the specific Linux Kernel so not any DKMS sort of methods there AFAIK! but I'm no Linux Expert and just want some one-click install or that to ship with the Distro already working so Blender 3D's iGPU/dGPU accelerated Cycles rendering is possible on AMD Radeon consumer GPUs.

Too Bad the Phoronix Article did not link there and according to the Phoronix article there maybe be some Trademark issue with a Company's CopperLink branding/naming as CopprLink(PCI-SIG) is just too close there.
Farfignoggen··on PCI-Sig Announces "CopprLink" PCI Express Cable Name
If that's actually true is just a Rebranding of the OCuLink branding where the Cu in OCuLink there stands for copper! And there are now 2 different makers of gaming Handhelds supporting OCulink ports natively and one Mini PC maker that's got a nice combo-use M.2 port that supports M.2 devices or an OEM supplied custom M.2 to OCuLink adapter that turns that M.2 into a OCuLink port that sits nicely flush with the Mini desktop's case there as if that was a builtin OCuLink Port!

And PCIe 6.0 is just PCIe 5.0's clock rates that uses PAM4 encoding instead of NRZ encoding. So PCIe 6.0 with PAM4 encoding and more bits encoded per clock cycle.

And ETA Prime's YouTube channel is featuring that Mini desktop PC in today's Video(11-14-2023)

And CopprLink is terrible Branding really there as OCuLink is just fine and needs no name change!

Farfignoggen··on Ask HN: Is Linux Mint a good choice for a laptop with 8gb of RAM?
Ubuntu is now Winbuntu and the Microsoft tie-in there! And Linux Mint is Derived from an Ubuntu Base. But Linux Mint Debian Edition(LMDE) is directly downstream of Debian so that LMDE is the Mint developers Insurance policy should there need to be a complete break with the Ubuntu Base by Going to the Debian Base instead.

So the Mint Maintainers maintain MINT and LMDE in parallel to hedge that possibility of avoiding more than Just the Snap Store in the future should that become necessary.

Farfignoggen··on Ask HN: Is Linux Mint a good choice for a laptop with 8gb of RAM?
Mint's a good choice for new user usability as the UI is similar to Windows 7 and it's mostly easy to discover how to use Mint's OS GUI and layout there.

Just Get ready for WiFi(Not only a Mint Issue there) issues as Mint's Driver Manager is not really a Manager of Drivers at all. And If you have some newer WiFi hardware that's got an opensource driver but the driver is out of Kernel Tree so ships Packaged(DKMS) as Out of Kernel Tree and works just fine with that driver package until an In Kernel Tree version is Accepted into the Kernel by the Kernel maintainers.

And that's because invariably that WiFi hardware's drivers will eventually be included with the Kernel as an In Kernel Tree driver but you will not be notified when that happens so you may end up with 2 sets of WiFi Kernel modules loaded for the WiFi hardware on your system but Mint's Driver manager is not really a capable application there to assist you in getting that fixed. So trial and error is needed there for some solution!

And I have a Laptop that's was using the rtl8821ce-DKMS version and the driver manager does not even have a setting to remove that but does have a setting to disable the device! And so I disabled that and apparently the in Kernel version of the module is running the WiFi hardware now as even though the device is "disabled"(DKMS version) the WiFi still works and with less issues than before as now the WiFi rarely disconnects at random times as much after the DKMS version of the WiFi Driver Module was disabled in Mint's "Driver Manager"

So Linux has this issue with not all the parts of any Linux OS Distros being developed under one roof so Linux OS Distros are a hodgepodge of separate projects that are assembled together to create a Distro around the Linux Kernel. And thus one finds that they are going to be forced to get their hands dirty in the Terminal with commands that are not really that easy to deal with in a short amount of time as there's that learning curve there to get over.

And the Linux Man-Pages(Manual Pages) are for reference only and lack actual examples of the commands in use and so that's why there's loads of online learning involved there because there's no real reference guides with examples to help with that process.

But for the Linux Kernel WiFi maintainers they need some Notification Page that lists the Different WiFi drivers that are about to be accepted into the Kernel so Folks can get a heads up there if they are running a DKMS packaged WiFi driver that's out of Kernel Tree and that leads to more than one set of WiFi driver modules loaded into the Linux Kernel and both trying to manage the same hardware at the same time. And really that was no fun to deal with for months there with the WiFi randomly disconnecting at odd times all day long.

So With Linux the drivers(WiFi/Other hardware) usually Ship with the Kernel but for newer hardware it could be years getting into the kernel tree so some DKMS Out Of Tree driver will have to be utilized if one is lucky there and there's actually a DKMS packaged version that works with the WiFi card in your device. And do not expect the folks at Micro Center to be at all Knowledgeable about which USB WiFi adapters that Micro Center sells actually work with Linux to begin with.

Outfit it with all sorts of Radio communication gear as a single large Geo-Stationary satellite platform while also outfitting it for space and earth facing telescopes and such for observations and additional science related sensor packages. And have a large Space tug/station keeping module attached to haul that up to synchronous orbit and keep that there for decades/longer.

So the The entire Space station could be outfitted with Xeon Gas storage tanks for station keeping usage and other gases for the instrument packages and that utilized for whatever needs that.

Another option is to take individual modules off and make smaller platforms for more global coverage and make more individual platforms for smaller individual Geo-synchronous orbital platforms.

One other option is reconfigure that as one giant deep space probe powered by Xenon Thrusters and slap some space nuclear reactor in that and loads of deep space antennas there and observation equipment and use an initial chemical rocket to get that up to escape velocity before that cuts out and the Xenon thrusters are engaged.

And one question, are all the modules on the Current ISS past their usable lifecycle and are no longer useful for any new station construction?

Farfignoggen··on Median Household Income After Taxes Fell 8.8% in 2022
In economics that's called the marginal propensity to spend! And on the lower rungs of the economic ladder the marginal propensity to spend versus the marginal propensity to save is nearly 100% toward spending there and nearly 0% for any savings. So any extra income given via Tax rebates and other methods of income redistribution for lower income households will almost 100% be assured to be immediately spent for some discretionary products purchases as long as the costs of Housing/Food and other necessaries is not eating up all of that beforehand.

And the multiplier effect of that discretionary spending void makes that even more than just a simple dollar for dollar calculation there.

The supply chain disruptions caused by the Pandemic is the one major factor that's often overlooked and specifically the longer term disruption that event caused to the Supply Chain Economy Of scale and all that can not be reestablished overnight.

The disruptions caused by all those pandemic related restaurant closings drastically altered the Agricultural supply chain economy of scale as farmers were forced to discard all that food/dairy production for lack of any functioning restaurant industry to purchase that production. And the Trucking/Shipping interests in that Agricultural supply chains losing all that business and having layoffs there and some interests going out of business as the result and Independent Truckers finding work in other market goods transportation/shipping if they could at that time.

So just measure the time it will take to reestablish a longer term Agricultural products supply chain economy of scale and that's a good part of the reason that food prices remain higher to this day regardless of the supply of money in the economy!

Micro Center has a terrible selection of Mini Desktop PCs and if some small outlet electronics outfit would start carrying Minisforum and Beelink Ryzen(BGA APU) based Mini Desktop PCs then I'd definitely be interested. But that's provided that I could get the system bare bones and supply my own memory and SSD.

Micro Center stopped carrying the ASRock X300 Desk Mini for any Ryzen 5000G(Socket Packaged) based desktop APU builds, and a very DIY friendly build that was good for there.

And AMD has stopped releasing G series Socket Packaged desktop APUs as there was no Ryzen 6000G or Ryzen 7000G Desktop APUs released! And so that's not good for any DIY Friendly Small Form Factor system builds like the InWin Chopin that can accommodate a Mini-ITX MB but the Chopin lacks the room for any dGPU to fit into the MB's PCIe slot, so small is that InWin Chopin's form factor. So Desktop APUs/SOCs with powerful iGPUs were what the InWin Chopin was designed in mind for there.

AMD's looking more toward OEMs and BGA Packaged APUs only there as some of the Radeon 7040HS series Mobile/BGA packaged APUs in Minisforum and BeeLink systems have been allotted up to 70W cTDPs on those supposedly "Mobile" BGA Packaged processors and that's more processor wattage than Ryzen 5000G(65W) was allotted.

But if one goes into any Micro Center their selection of Mini Desktop PCs and and Very Small form factor cases and low profile fans is just awful there. So I'd like a store that wold specialize in small form factor PCs and cases and low profile cooling solutions. And I'm more of a Bare Bones Mini desktop PC end user and I do hope that eventually AMD will offer some newer Socket Package APUs in the future for DIY friendly builds. Micro Center used to carry the InWin Chopin as well but they have since stopped carrying that.

So give me a Radio-Shack like entity that specializes in Very Small Form Factor Desktop PC systems and even Handheld Gaming devices like the Steam Deck and AyaNeo/Other gaming handhelds and all the accessories and do it yourself upgrade kits there.
