This way, legally you're in the clear, because you didn't use the voice of X. Not on any occasion did you use the voice of X. You even paid a voicer to make your recordings, and it's their voice.
Morally, it can be - and probably is - a different matter.
Compare ethane - ethyne (single bond - triple bond), for example.
Most people live in the here and now; if things don't affect their daily lives, it's not worth attention. But we're all intelligent enough to see where things are heading. We're also all intelligent enough to know that we can at least mitigate the effects of expected developments through coding a few tools.
The more people that think of such tools, the better. But that's not enough. Being a bit blunt, ideas don't count for shit on their own. The more people that sit down to code such tools from those ideas, the better.
It belongs in the exact same category of "features" as mandatory wiretapping on telecom networks and mandatory tracking on cellphones, and other inventions that treat the user as an adversary. It also belongs in the trashcan.
To people who want this to babysit their kids - no, you don't get to abdicate your parenting to a piece of code doing censorship.

I frequently publish a story when I'm 98% sure - pretty much every single time, the details will fill in as people come to visit and add it to the comments field, frequently enough enriching the story beyond what I first thought. That one time, it didn't, and I'm still somewhat bitter over my misjudgement.

The case presented here is worse than what I would expect from typical banana republics, showing corruption at every step of the way.

Pretty much every Power That Be <tm> has tried to bring the site down, and it still stands.
That's amazing.

Suspicious - well, that depends on exactly what you are suspecting.

CloudFlare doesn't shine on single page loads. CloudFlare shines when your site hits Reddit's front page, you have 1000 people online at the same time, and your servers are already pumping 30 megabits per second of data of content to visitors.
Source: I hit Reddit's front page a couple of times a month. Before I used CloudFlare, my servers would die. Now, they idle leisurely at loads 1.0 to 2.0 when that happens.

So many upvotes.
There are ways to shift custody of objects that would honor such restrictions that you speak of - but they are not a sale, nor are they exchange of property.

There is no "limited license" embodied in the good. You buy the physical item and the whole physical item, in all its aspects. Courts have repeatedly rejected the notion that additional terms can be applied after the sale (and if I'm not mistaken, this is part of the first sale doctrine).
Monopolies such as the copyright monopoly are indeed not included in the over-the-counter purchase, nor did I claim they were. I am, however, stating that they limit the property rights to the good you have legally acquired.
I apologize for coming across as aggressive, but I can get frustrated when people are not clear on the concept of property and what you buy over-the-counter as defined by law (as opposed to what other limitations may apply to the property you have legally acquired), and assert things that are plainly false and misleading.

This statement is utterly and completely false. You can examine the consumer protection laws in pretty much any first-world country to see that sale-of-goods laws and first sale doctrine both apply without mercy.
As your argument is based on the quoted premise, which is sadly factually incorrect, I read the rest of your objection to the article as logically failing.
When you buy something over-the-counter, it does become your property, in all its aspects. Any restrictions to your property rights over the object you bought are just that; restrictions of your property rights.
The copyright monopoly is one such restriction of your property rights.

The person responsible for inserting the text into the report, who is a Member of the European Parliament, and therefore in some sense representing this particular piece of text, names WikiLeaks and the donation blockade specifically.

So this has entered the famous _wurstmaschine_ - the legislative sausage machine - where something will come out the other end.
