Eupolemos··on Plan mode is dead
I find it interesting that what the author arrives at is the OODA loop.

The final form became: understand → act → inspect → clarify → adjust → act again

But he says that "understand" isn't really fitting (or something like that), so we are at: act → inspect → clarify → adjust → act again

That can be understood as "observe, orient, adjust, act" - but with other words.

That is the method to use when you are IN the sh*t rather than removed from it and making some theoretical plan.

I thoroughly enjoyed the read <3

Eupolemos··on EU chief opens door for Canada to become 'associate member'
Democratic populations have feelings towards each other, including friendship.

There are plenty of nations I feel my nation has friendships with - if they were bullied, we'd stand up for them on pure reaction.

Not everything is interests. People are people.

Eupolemos··on Private German rocket makes history, reaches orbit from European soil
Eh, you can split us Europeans up into two camps; those who do not want to see the problem and those who couldn't look away.

The second camp saw the craziness when the later Bush was elected a second time.

Eupolemos··on Third Drone Shot Down in Three Days in Romanian Territory
> The Youtuber has an axe to grind

It is Anders Puck Nielsen who is a serious military researcher and commentator. He is a go-to by any television channel in Denmark and has been from the start of the war.

He very much passes the smell test :)

Eupolemos··on Orion Browser by Kagi
> They abandoned their armies because the continent outsourced defense spending/industry to the United States and Russia following WWII.

We outsourced our defense spending to Russia?

Are you incapable of embarrassment over your own level of ignorance?

Eupolemos··on Orion Browser by Kagi
No.

> The moral dimension is also completely illusory. Ukraine is fighting a war of attrition that's funding is due to the same cold-hearted power politics that Russia subscribes to.

Blatant gaslighting. Ukraine is defending against an invasion. Russia has said it wants to go further and take what it can of Europe, states that the Baltics aren't countries and threatens us all with nukes on a daily basis.

In Europe we defend ourselves by funding Ukraine.

It is super simple; Russia attacks when it is strong enough and takes what it can.

We tried living in peace, we believed in it. We basically got rid of our armies in Europe, since everybody knows how to live in peace. Except Russia.

We will not make that mistake again.

I'm sorry - you're saying that having a public opinion on another person's opinion is against the plurality of opinion?
Eupolemos··on Can Europe train a frontier AI model on the compute it owns?
Being on the backfoot will make us vulnerable to those who are not.

I do not understand how this can not be self evident.

Eupolemos··on The AI industry is discovering that the public hates it
These years, knowing what is tongue-in-cheek can be very difficult.

Many of us see the current US administration as being either real life modern nazis or heavily influenced by such.

So I was wondering; are you being serious?

Eupolemos··on Denmark was reportedly preparing for full-scale war with the US over Greenland
What power?

Economic power (US will no longer be the world reserve currency).

The power of allies (see Trump begging for help in Hormuz).

All the soft power it ever had.

Eupolemos··on Ggml.ai joins Hugging Face to ensure the long-term progress of Local AI
That is a very broad and silly position to take, especially in this thread.

I use Devstral 2 and Gemini 3 daily.

Eupolemos··on Ggml.ai joins Hugging Face to ensure the long-term progress of Local AI
Why are you talking price when we are talking local AI?

That doesn't make any sense to me. Am I missing something?

Eupolemos··on EU bans the destruction of unsold apparel, clothing, accessories and footwear
Perhaps some added details would be nice?

In Nuuk they have had 11 degrees celsius. January has been, on average, 8 degrees above the norm. They are having the highest temperatures since 1784.

It is warmer in Greenland than in Denmark.

They now have to close down ski-slopes in Greenland.

Eupolemos··on EU bans the destruction of unsold apparel, clothing, accessories and footwear
We all have in Europe and the US - but it too is a sign of harsh climate change, because the reason it is cold "down here" on our latitudes is that the arctic is super hot, pushing the cold down to us.

Hey - just wanted to say thank you.

I wanted to make a blog and used your site to find interesting looking blogs for inspiration.

It was wonderful <3

Eupolemos··on FBI is investigating Minnesota Signal chats tracking ICE
Because Snowden, agree with him or not, showed us that reality blew away our imagination.

It may feel normal now, but back then, serious people, professionals, told us that the claims just were not possible.

Until we learned that they were.

Eupolemos··on Europe wants to end its dangerous reliance on US internet technology
Dane here.

Feelings are different now. IIRC, the most popular app in Denmark right now is an app that tells you if a product is American.

It has become broadly clear, that it is about self preservation.

Eupolemos··on Danish pension fund divesting US Treasuries
A counter argument is that this is just a small pension company.

If all Danish Pension Funds etc. decide that we better divest because of imminent war, we are talking way, way more money. I have no idea how much, but Danish pensions are big.

This may indeed be a warning shot.

Eupolemos··on The next two years of software engineering
I think there's a good chance demand goes up in Europe.

We are going to need to de-risk our software dependencies, and Germany is going to need to use computers.

Germany is going to be crazy, I think.

Eupolemos··on I dumped Windows 11 for Linux, and you should too
No, we know it would be the breaking-point for not acting. It will be a shooting war if the US tries it.

We don't need to annihilate the US forces, just make the US bleed enough to rethink this stupid shit.

Eupolemos··on I dumped Windows 11 for Linux, and you should too
Target audience is probably especially anyone not in the US?

It is beginning to look a lot like war is brewing between Europe and the US over Greenland. US media working super hard to make an "acquisition" sound reasonable and "FreedomTM".
