Envec83··on Steve Wozniak speaks on Right to Repair [video]
Am I the only believing it should be a free market, where each company follows the strategy it prefers?

Let the market decide if repairability is desired or not. If customers really want it, certainly there will be companies offering it.

Much better to have millions voting with their money and purchases than a few bureaucrats deciding how they believe things should be.

Envec83··on Ask HN: Name one idea that changed your life
Yes, I loved breakfasts and used to eat a lot. But you get used to it.
Envec83··on Ask HN: Name one idea that changed your life
Agreed. I should have been more precise stating that I adopt both fasting and calorie restriction.
Envec83··on Ask HN: Name one idea that changed your life
I decided to do it to get healthier. There is overwhelming scientific evidence that fasting for long periods is good for you and that living by on 1200 cal per day increases your lifespan by 5 to 10 years.

I lost a lot of weight, feel much better, and save money and time every day now.

Envec83··on Ask HN: Name one idea that changed your life
Intermittent fasting. These days I only have one meal a day
Envec83··on Undervalued Engineering Skills: Writing Well
I completely agree. In fact I created https://www.dailywritingtips.com/ (more than 10 years ago) for this exact reason.
Envec83··on The Next 10 Years Will Be About “Market-Networks”
It looks like HoneyBook pivoted from what is described in the article. Curious huh?
Envec83··on Stop Buying Things and Start Borrowing Them
Isn't this what the "shared economy" is about?

Still, I find it interesting that he managed to raise $30k on IndieGoGo. It signals that people care about those ideas/ideals.

Envec83··on Ask HN: How much ad revenue you make from your side project?
I run a couple of ad-based websites. The largest one being https://www.dailywritingtips.com

The key aspect to estimate how much you can earn is the page RPM you can get.

The average I have seen across my sits is around $2. Some niches have lower RPMs (e.g., programming, in my case at least). Some niches have much higher. I had a site about investing in gold that had $12 page RPM on average, if I remember well.

In your case, I believe the number would be higher than $2000 per month if you reach 1 million visitors. I am guessing twice as much at least.

Envec83··on Ask HN: How to become better at problem solving?
Solve lots of problems.

Given you are asking on HN, I would guess that you code and are looking to become better at programming problems as well.

If that is the case, check out this resource for programming games, challenges and competitions: https://github.com/dakaraphi/development-resources

Envec83··on Ask HN: Native Android development in 2015? Worth the effort?
Yes.

Going native gives you much more flexibility regarding the problems you can solve, and how you can solve them.

Envec83··on 4 Lessons Learned After Winning a Car at Ford’s Hackathon
Brazil is years behind the US in terms of startup culture. There are very few promising startups, even fewer experienced investors, and to top it all the bureaucracy is terrible. Just consider that you would need to wait between 30 to 60 days just to get your business license.

Not coincidentally my goal is to move to the US as soon as possible.

That all being said, there are also some opportunities here. The country is huge (200+ million), so the internal market is big enough to fuel a startup growth. Second, quite often it's possible to merely clone something that is working in the US here. Some people did that with Groupon, for instance, and they made a lot of money.

Feel free to send me an email if you decide to come here. I'll be glad to show you around (contact details on my profile).

Envec83··on Show HN: My First 3D Android Game Using Unity3D – Dragon Slayer: Reign of Fire
Congratulations! I see you have a couple of other games. One with 100k-500k installs, one with 50k-100k installs, and one with 10k-50k installs. All of them have in-app purchases. Could you share with us how much you are making with each game?
Envec83··on How do you get to write so well in HN?
If I may suggest another resource: http://www.dailywritingtips.com

Articles are published daily, as the name implies, and the they are not that long, so you can learn about standard English usage without spending too much time at it.

Envec83··on Ask HN: Where to find a good mathematician to work as a consultant?
Theoretical Computer Scientist could help. The area is combinatorics.
Envec83··on Ask HN: Where to find a good mathematician to work as a consultant?
Thanks for the recommendation.
Envec83··on Ask HN: Where to find a good mathematician to work as a consultant?
Thanks a lot. I'll get in touch.
Envec83··on Ask HN: How about a Web Framework Competition?
Yeah I thought about this point. If enough people participated we could mitigate this, but I am not sure if we could attract such number of participants.
Envec83··on Ask HN: What is the best Linux Laptop in 2014?
I second that. I had troubles when running Linux on a HP and on a Toshiba laptop, but on a Lenovo one things have been working fine for 2+ years.
Envec83··on Ask HN: How many daily users/visitors are on Hacker News
You can use web tools that make such estimation.

Examples:

http://www.similarweb.com/ (best one in my opinion)

https://www.compete.com/

http://www.alexa.com

Envec83··on Ask HN: Would this method work to split equity of a startup?
Very good points. Thanks for the feedback.
Envec83··on Ask HN: Would this method work to split equity of a startup?
We definitely will. I am lining up a couple more pilot customers.
Envec83··on Ask HN: Would this method work to split equity of a startup?
What if we decide he should get 30% upfront in exchange for helping to sell the product, but he ends up not selling much because he is too busy managing his current business. Do you think this is a risk I must take?
Envec83··on Ask HN: How to overcome the fear of doing more than your co-founder?
Thanks for sharing your take on the issue Christopher.
Envec83··on Ask HN: How to overcome the fear of doing more than your co-founder?
I agree, vesting might help a lost with the practical side of things. Thanks.
Envec83··on Ask HN: How to overcome the fear of doing more than your co-founder?
Very good points, especially about the visibility aspect.

And I agree, it's better to have half of a big pie than 100% of a small pie.

Thanks.

Envec83··on Ask HN: How to overcome the fear of doing more than your co-founder?
Yes this is a possibility.
Envec83··on Ask HN: How to overcome the fear of doing more than your co-founder?
Thanks for the feedback man. I agree with most points, including with the fact that it might be an ego problem to begin with!

I'll give this some more thought.

Envec83··on Ask HN: How to overcome the fear of doing more than your co-founder?
