EduardoBautista··on Why is the liver so weirdly regenerative?
Die as a child at alarming rates
EduardoBautista··on GPT-6 Astra
You could have just added “flask SQLite stack” to whatever prompt you added. Just those three words, randomly somewhere in your prompt.
EduardoBautista··on Grok outage
That’s mostly because Grok only became good enough to be worth using about a couple of months ago when Grok 4.5 was released.

I feel confident enough that I can plan with fable or GPT5.6 and then hand it off to Grok to implement for certain complex tasks. If it’s a simple task, I can go straight to Grok.

I like mixing and matching to take advantage of these LLM subsidies and also trying to figure out each of its strengths.

EduardoBautista··on Where did all the public bathrooms go?
Many of the homeless don’t have jobs. They wouldn’t be able to afford rent in Bangladesh.
EduardoBautista··on Stacked PRs are now live on GitHub
I feel it's more of a limitation of the GitHub UI. It is much easier to group together reviews and comments by PR than it is by commits.
EduardoBautista··on Using a Gaming PC's RTX 5070 from a separate Linux workstation
Same error. Might be a false positive DDOS detection.
EduardoBautista··on Airbus Takes Flight from AWS
Since they are cloud products and not bare metal servers, yes, you are paying for the specific features of AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, etc that are lacking outside of US companies.
EduardoBautista··on Your 'app' could have been a webpage (so I fixed it for you)
I “love apps” because it’s less likely to be bloated electron crap or browser based. It’s easier for me to review code on the GitHub iOS app than in the browser because performance is much better.
EduardoBautista··on California authorizes its DMV to join a national ID database
How does the blockchain make correlation difficult?
EduardoBautista··on Performance per dollar is getting faster and cheaper
And that 2%-4% makes all the difference.
EduardoBautista··on Codex for open source
Which online product gives away 6 months of a $100 per month subscription?
EduardoBautista··on Statement on US government directive to suspend access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5
Well maybe now they will learn that they shouldn’t overhype the capabilities of their models.
EduardoBautista··on Incident with Pull Requests, Issues, Git Operations and API Requests
Everything about their UI/UX screams of doing the bare minimum to check off a box on a feature list. It reminds me of Jira.
EduardoBautista··on Incident with Pull Requests, Issues, Git Operations and API Requests
May has been filled with critical issues. It seems it's getting worse over time.
EduardoBautista··on Incident with Pull Requests, Issues, Git Operations and API Requests
I'd consider self-hosting GitHub Enterprise before putting my team through the pain of Gitlab.
EduardoBautista··on Ask HN: What are you working on (non-AI)?
I understand the frustration with dealing with the constant log outs, but I am too paranoid to try anything automated in case they have bot detection.

For some people, getting a US visa denied can ruin their lives (job loss).

EduardoBautista··on Setting up a free *.city.state.us locality domain (2025)
There are services that will submit this information to hundreds of sites for you.

I used incogni and it seemed to have a positive result.

EduardoBautista··on Computer Use is 45x more expensive than structured APIs
Yes, but how cheap is it to run four at the same time? It’s tough to run one good model locally, but running four at the same time which I commonly do with Claude and Codex just doesn’t seem to be happening anytime soon.
EduardoBautista··on Days without GitHub incidents
Defending a multi-trillion dollar company you mean (Microsoft).
EduardoBautista··on Bugs Rust won't catch
I think a lower amount of training data for Haskell might be a reason.
EduardoBautista··on UAE to leave OPEC
The UAE is not theocratic. Yes, Islam is the official religion but there is freedom of religion.
EduardoBautista··on San Diego rents declined following surge in supply
As someone who grew up in San Diego and now lives in Dubai, I point towards how much of the construction companies in Dubai are partly government owned and were at once fully owned before the government sold shares in their IPOs.

I really don’t understand why the California government doesn’t just build luxury condos at a large scale for profit. The state will get revenue and lower housing costs overall.

EduardoBautista··on Direnv Is All You Need to Parallelize Agentic Programming with Git Worktrees
I just use the WorktreeCreate hook in Claude to copy over the .env file.
EduardoBautista··on MacBook Pro with M5 Pro and M5 Max
OLED sounds great, but I am worried about burn in. MacBook screens are a bit more static and on longer than iPads and iPhones.
EduardoBautista··on Claude is an Electron App because we've lost native
Also, Rust's strong and strict type system keeps Claude honest. It seems as if the big LLM models have trained on a lot of poorly written TypeScript because they tend to use type assertions such as `as any` and eslint disable comments.

I had to add strict ESLint and TypeScript rules to keep guardrails on the coding agents.

EduardoBautista··on iPhone 17e
I have found the iPhone Air much easier to hold than the iPhone 13 Pro it replaced because of how light it is, even though the iPhone Air has a bigger screen.
EduardoBautista··on Vercel's CEO offers to cover expenses of 'Jmail'
It shouldn't. The issue is that most developers would rather spin up another instance of their server than solve the performance issue in their code, so now it's a common belief that computers are really slow to serve content.

And we are talking about static content. You will be bottlenecked by bandwidth before you are ever bottlenecked by your laptop.

EduardoBautista··on Discord will require a face scan or ID for full access next month
Saying parents should be doing their jobs will lose you votes, that's why. Anything that implies personal responsibility is political suicide.
EduardoBautista··on Trump says Venezuela’s Maduro captured after strikes
South Korea is doing very well. So is Taiwan.
EduardoBautista··on Texas is suing all of the big TV makers for spying on what you watch
I trust Apple’s business model.
