There's a lot of public keys that don't give you any special access, unless the dev is really bad.

Anyone who cares about security will be using App Attest or the Google store equivalent.

I made a simple app to solve a local/personal problem for people in my area. Keeping it focused made it fairly easy to get it built. I spent more time on the marketing website and images than I did building the actual app haha.

Maybe they just bought the company so they could use the name without being sued

They're still continuing to have a lifetime license option, it's just going up in price.
