The whole "microplastics" thing is terrifyging

Congratulations on the most toxic, astroturfed site on the internet I guess

As 'green' policies are enacted I think you mean

You're correct, a lot of people in the UK want to leave

> You can see this shift even in the rise of the word “content” itself. From Ted Gioia’s article: “The banal word ‘content’ is used to describe every type of creative work, implying that artistry is generic and interchangeable.”

Just one of a number of things wrong with the overuse of this word. I can’t be the only one who gags everytime someone mentions “content” or worse, the phrase “consuming content” which is just gross and stupid

> I don't get why folks find this depressing. If everything can be done by AI and robots - humans won't need to do "work" for all of our needs to be met. Ie, we can all go on perpetual holiday and/or work on things we truly love

That’s just not how this world works.

A few articles from 'The Atlantic' on the front page suddenly?

Surely this will end cancer

I’ve been reading since 2016 that there’s about to be a recession. The conclusion I’ve reached is some people REALLY want one.

Re: the drop in comment quality - it’s because this subject is being massively astroturfed at the moment, across all big sites.

Transparently astroturfed thread

Why does US media seem to get a stiffy out of others' despair?

Two popups about donating to a website I’ve never heard of, instant close

It helps them to "consume content"

Cannot stand the term either, so many problems with it. For one it completely lacks any kind of precision... and the idea of 'consuming content' is just gross and stupid.

Exactly and it's SO obvious. I honestly don't understand how anyone can still read Reddit... these political groups basically run the site now.

Exercise helps more than anything I’ve ever found - I don’t mean small amounts I mean exercising till you’re sweating your bits off. Post-exercise you feel ready to CRUSH if you know what I mean :) I feel your pain my friend.

Let's keep quiet then and just allow them to add more ads with no pushback.

I've started taking Linux for gaming more seriously since the Proton devs managed to fix a stuttering issue in Elden Ring. Would so love to completely remove Windows from my life.

Clickbait titles are getting worse and even more nonsensical

I thought this had been known for a while?

“Just doing their job”

Interesting project, got any screenshots so far?

Wasn't this the company that ostensibly began on reddit? Their founder used to post many promises about "not selling out" and the rest.

Firmly believe what’s ruined social media is special interest groups and the rest parading as people like you and me. My evidence for this is the overnight take-over of r/politics in 2016 and the subsequent introduction of extremely divisive talking points which eventually transformed it into the glorified hate-site it is today. YES I’m bitter, Reddit before then got me through some tough times.

Being called to the manager's office is stress-inducing for most people and presumably the person was having issues in their role beforehand and was expecting something serious. To make a joke about such things is beyond callous.

How incredibly insensitive.

Rapid growth means absolutely nothing on Reddit when it's possibly the most the most astro-turfed platform on the internet. I came across a thread from that subreddit and it resembled a grotesque celebration that a 4-year old had died due to an anti-vax family member.

The first one I looked at (s3-uploader) was abandoned five years ago

The gall to refer to this as “features”
