Why does HN always do this? They'll see that the article is an opinion piece and instantly go on the defensive. Inferiority complex maybe?

I contend that there may still be some forces in some industries that try to subvert efforts at more women in them, but those are few and far between. With the gender earnings gap already proven to be bullshit (and if anything, in tech, women are getting paid more simply because companies want to fill diversity quotas), we need to stop wasting time fighting amongst ourselves and focusing effort on real, actual problems. Workers divided over petty shit like this is what the rich and powerful want.
"Today, architecture feels more like technology shopping than tinkering."
That's because most web development jobs are maintaining glorified CRUD applications. Real actual software engineering jobs are hard to find, and don't pay as well as web development (or it's open source software that doesn't pay).
Also, if it weren't Metallica, it would have been someone else; virtually every big artist at the time felt the same way but didn't speak up.
So far with Biden, we were promised an additional $2000 stimulus check...oh actually it's just $1400...oh actually, we're not so sure now. What did he do instead? Marched the military right back into Syria on his first day in office.
So yes, this is a "both sides" thing.
Wonder how intense the rewrite was; David Brevik said that much of the game relied on the precise resolution and framerate for everything to work. It wasn't a matter of just upping the resolution and everything worked fine.
I swear though, if this is anything like Warcraft Reforged, I'm truly done with this company.
No way? Next you'll tell me Hollywood has this same problem...
Unsolicited opinion: Ok, fine, but music discovery algorithms are one of the coolest things to come out of the Internet. When Pandora first launched, it was mind-blowing. Now it's commonplace. I've found so many good artists on YouTube, Bandcamp, and the like (don't use Spotify). I don't know how they work, but I'm pretty sure they also take user engagement into account, so I wonder if this is really doing anything novel or just marketing.
With each passing day, the Internet looks more and more dire.
