Thanks for the response!
DeltaCoast··on Launch HN: Coverage Cat (YC S22) – Umbrella insurance via your personal agent
I worked as a product designer at Policygenius on their home/auto product. I was pretty obsessed with automating it so people would actually get their quotes instantly and I remember the challenges of being able to pull the accurate quotes with the info people could reasonably provide vs paying Lexisnexus etc. anyway it’s a slog. How are you guys getting quotes? And how have you thought about the acquired user challenge that they want to reshop but obviously insurers don’t want to pay you to lose their customers every 12mos ?
DeltaCoast··on Stripe will reportedly acquire OpenRouter for $7B+
I get the impression they’re doing this for the network that OpenRouter has built, something like 8 million devs on one side and hundreds of services on the other side. If more and more software will be built this way then it’s a good bet this will grow into trillions in transaction volume and Stripe can own a percent like Visa and Mastercard and any network.
DeltaCoast··on Fake food delivery site for the dopamine
There were fintechs that did this, I think yotta and one other that was acquired by a big bank. I think it was (is?) popular but if I remember correctly they lost customer funds because of Synapses failure and the way the customer funds were organized they weren’t insured.
DeltaCoast··on Graduates are booing pep talks on AI at college commencements
I think the comment you are responding to meant that sarcastically.
DeltaCoast··on AI is making me dumb
The author said “god damn” once or twice whereas you just amended your comment to add a sentence containing “shit”. Not sure I understand your logic.
DeltaCoast··on Tax Wrapped 2025
Very cool! But I think there’s a cap on social security, it said I paid much more towards that than I did.
DeltaCoast··on Ask HN: Any interesting niche hobbies?
Very cool! Any links to posts about some of them?
DeltaCoast··on Show HN: We analyzed 1,573 Claude Code sessions to see how AI agents work
Can you expand on the USDC friction piece?
DeltaCoast··on Dual Income, No Kids: What We Know About 'DINKs' in the U.S.
No mention of pets in the article, beyond the photo, so your comment is unnecessarily spiteful. I'm not a pet owner, nor a DINK for the record.
DeltaCoast··on Ask HN: What are you working on? (February 2026)
Nice work! My local coffee shop uses square but I for some reason never redeem the stars, my wine shop has a physical punch card that I sometimes forget in my wallet when going. Seems like there’s room for experimentation in the area.
DeltaCoast··on Ask HN: What Are You Working On? (December 2025)
Very cool!
DeltaCoast··on Boring is what we wanted
That’s what I am holding on to.
DeltaCoast··on Ask HN: What are you working on? (July 2025)
Would love a link to the demo if and when you’re open to sharing. I’m a product designer but not looking for projects, I’m mostly curious - this is one of the more unique ideas I’ve heard.
DeltaCoast··on Show HN: I built Bazaari.io to make launching online stores simple and fast
It's possible the OP was just trying out different storefronts and either doesn't have finalized assets or doesn't want to pull them up to try it out. When publishing or going live I agree with you, but in my experience most sitebuilders/storefronts have a draft / unpublished version - in which case uploading logos/product images/favicons/etc - isn't necessary until going live.
DeltaCoast··on Does generative AI facilitate investor trading? Evidence from ChatGPT outages
Oof yes, sorry, meant to comment on the tiny pod post.
DeltaCoast··on Does generative AI facilitate investor trading? Evidence from ChatGPT outages
This looks so fun! I had not considered getting an apple watch until now. I mostly just use my phone for spotify and maps.
DeltaCoast··on Stocketa – An app I designed, built and never launched
It says he is a cofounder on his about page.
DeltaCoast··on Career Advice (2013)
I don't think it's crazy that what you do for half your waking time has an effect in shaping you? It's like saying you're immune to advertising, you probably don't even notice all of the ways your work influences you.
DeltaCoast··on I don’t want to grow my freelance design studio into an agency
Can I ask how you find contracts? Are there that many contract roles posted in public or is it due to your network?
DeltaCoast··on ‘No way out’: how video games use tricks from gambling to attract big spenders
Thanks for sharing your blog, I've been looking for something like your trainer to help me strengthen my math.
DeltaCoast··on When Work Didn’t Follow You Home
Is there anyone on your team that just isn't around? Keeps a strict schedule - I've found that even working across time zones with tight deadlines, some people just have a hard stop.
DeltaCoast··on When Work Didn’t Follow You Home
Are you saying now people are no longer working "8am to 5pm" because the commute is no longer the boundary? I'm not sure I follow.
DeltaCoast··on Plex lays off more than 20 percent of its staff
Maybe it depends on which half.
DeltaCoast··on Microsoft's ex-VP of HR says you should leave a company if you get put on a PIP
I think most of us agree that you should leave if put on a pip...but I think we should remember that quitting prematurely may not be the best financial move for many as you'll need to rely on savings and not qualify for unemployment. It's certainly in the company's best interest if you feel stressed and shamed enough to quit early and save them the hassle.
DeltaCoast··on [dead]
I worked at Codecademy - you're right the getting stuck part hurts people moving forward, we spent a lot of time trying to help people without outright spitting it out - it was less about runtime errors and more about the concept. I'm not sure that an AI spitting out an answer is the right solution to help people learn - we also thought about different forms (projects, embeds in articles, tutors, etc)

Another Codecademy alumn is building a different learn to code platform - he wrote many courses and was always interested in teaching and providing resources.

All in all, they problems were learning and education problems rather than technical.

DeltaCoast··on Ask HN: Anyone Building a Competitor to Reddit?
Do you have a link to share? Btw I'm surprised you just made a HN account to share that? Seems kind of suspicious but I don't know why.

DeltaCoast··on ScholarTurbo: Use ChatGPT to chat with PDFs (supports GPT-4)
That Pepsi doc made the rounds like 15 years ago. I remember seeing it first on Reddit, someone had claimed it was a branding pitch. There was a lot of back and forth on wether or not it's a hoax because it's absurd, but I've been in some meetings where we've gone through branding presentations that sound pretty similar.
DeltaCoast··on Shopify will be smaller by about 20% and Flexport will buy Shopify Logistics
Someone else mentioned it's not passive, but a few weeks ago somebody referred to this language as "exonerative tense" which I thought fit well.
